It was 82 degrees when I left for work this morning. You know it's going to be hot here when it's 82 degrees at 4:45 am. They're calling for 103 this afternoon.
On the Crowley Road shoulder, just north of Risinger Road, I hit a rock just wrong and pinch flatted. It was my first flat in quite a while, and the first flat on the front of my commuting bike in over two years.
My wife pointed out to me last night that there was getting to be quite a collection of spider webs from the bottom of my truck to the driveway.......LOL. It's actually only been a week since I drove it.

Had a great brisk tailwind on the way to work today, cruised effortlessly at 30 mph for a bit. Made me feel like I'm ready for the tour! But struggling to make 10 mph on the way home will bring me back to reality.

Took one of my longer-but-still-direct routes home last night just for an extra mile of fun.
Good ride in this morning. Seemingly a tad drier this AM after storms in the area last night. Got a surprise compliment from another commuter this AM re: my bike. Just said thanks at first until I saw he was on a black Cross Check. I ride a black LHT, so his comment made even more sense. I only managed an "Ah" as in I get it now, but was too slow in my morning stupor to share the Surly love back. So, if you're reading, I liked your Cross Check, too, even though I didn't manage to verbalize that...

Got the roadie back from the shop after 3+ weeks. A few upgrades while it was there, aero hoods, bar end shifters. Legs were heavy and the lungs burned, I haven't been riding enough.

Started my morning off with trying to tune my front der that wouldn't shift into the higher gear, took off for the 14mi ride to school and still couldn't get the thing into the big boy gear. Finally did but the chain was rubbing so I shifted down and threw the chain! Stopping to put it back on, I frustratedly cursed as I had just greased and cleaned the front der...shouldn't be doing this I thought. Thought about turning around but pressed on, only to realize the full extent of my problem-the left crank arm had come loose! Because of this the chain ring on the other side was sliding outward and making the shift impossible.
I stopped, cursed a few times, then went to work with my allen key (thank GOD I brought it today!). Some guy with a SWEET moustache riding one of the nicest trek's I've ever seen stopped by and asked if I had all the tools I needed, I confirmed but he stayed to hold my bike up while I worked on it anyway. It was really nice to have someone there to reaffirm that I was fixing my bike (and not just making things worse) and to chat with to keep my grounded and not get all pissy about it. Once I had everything back in working order we parted ways and I hauled serious butt to make it to class on time (was only 2 min late!). Overall a mentally and physically challenging ride but I'm glad I didn't just stop and call someone to pick me up, plus the weather was gorgeous!

Today was my 2nd time doing my new/temporary 48 mile round trip commute...went much better today since I was prepared logistically and didn't have to carry 15 pounds of crap on my back. Going to do it again tomorrow and I'm a little nervous about doing so much two days in a row, but I wasn't really tired when I got home tonight, so I'm optimistic.

Morning ride was a bit chilly and wet because of the overnight rain and thunderstorm but the midday ride back home was amazing. Cool breezy wind with the sun out but it wasn't hot.

I can't put my bike in my office while corporate is visiting and they will be here until Thursday. It seems like a month since I've ridden my bike but it's only been since Monday. Come on Friday.

Good ride, and almost 10 degrees farenheit cooler this moring at 63 F ( 17 C). The first downhill was a bit chilly. I probably need to ride harder up that hill in the morning to get a bit warmed up on monrings like this.

The pavement was a little bit damp but it wasn't raining. Temps around 60F/15C with a crosswind. Blonde trail hottie was back. Yay!
Pizza for lunch today. I wonder how many miles per slice I get.

Ride home last night was good, but there was a gusting headwind to deal with that made things more difficult than they needed to be. Rode pretty hard both ways yesterday, so was dragging a little this morning on the way in. A little slower than yesterday, and plan on taking it easy on the way home tonight to save a little for tomorrow. With a 40 mile round trip, I tend to avoid riding back to back days, so three days in a row will be a new challenge for me.

70F, sunny, just completely beautiful. I left early and ran to the post office and the bank before work.
I still feel slow on the 'bent. I'm not any slower than on my other bikes, it just feels that way.

Beautiful morning, but I bonked during my last 5 miles. I need to make eating a banana or something when I get up part of my morning routine. Yes, I know that somebody started a thread on this topic earlier this week.

wednesday's ride was pleasant. 70s on the way in, low 90s on the way home. stopped at the pet store and picked up a 15lb. bag of dog food, strapped it in my back basket and continued the final 2 1/2 miles home. no big deal. still, i like adding errands to my commute.

Good ride in this morning. I took my old route that I haven’t taken in a few months and it was seat to see all of the progress being made on the new homes that have been under construction.
I arrived to work and realized that I was missing my shorts that put on over my tight bike shorts. I get here earlier than most people so it's not the walk in that worried me. Leaving work (I leave earlier than most) is going to be like the "walk of shame" I made so many girls take in college.

little chilly but a very nice 28km this morning! Looking forward to my first bike-commute home of the year (yeah, I usually cheat and get a ride home in a car
)...
REALLY hope I don't get a flat though as I forgot my seat-back bag on my MTB this morning... gonna be along walk if I do!

Long days at work leaving me less energetic and more imporptantly with less time so I've been taking the shortest route possible the last couple days. Can't wait for our org's big annual meeting to wind down... among other reasons b/c once it does and next weekend rolls around I'm off for an overnight bike camping trip.

I had a freakishly quick ride home despite a pretty good headwind. I missed the traffic jams due to be spawned by Michelle Obama's visit to our fair city. I wound up reeling in a Clydesdale on an MTB. This was a very large dude, but not in the vertical dimension, if you understand what I mean. He was hauling arse though. I was impressed. Into a headwind at 16MPH. His bike wasn't even adjusted properly. Seat too low! Anyway, I hung out behind him until I had to leave the MUP. If he keeps that up he's gonna be all svelte in a few months.
