Sorry to hear that, Shattered Femurs are kinda bad. Generally you have to be hit a ton to bust a femur. Glad to hear your surly is ok.

Fantastic morning commute for the second day in a row. After two days of record heat, the weather turned cooler and drier and much more pleasant for riding. With a light tailwind, I had my second-fastest morning commute of the year and could set personal best for my total commute if the headwinds are light this afternoon. Going on vacation after today, so won't be logging any commute miles until the last week in July.

Heal up quickly. If you crack a femur just right, she'll break. A guy I know was out trail running, tried to jump from a stream bank to a rock, but went down like a sack of bricks when the rock turned out to be slick. He hit the rock and shattered the BALL of the femur. The surgeons fixed him all up but they said the force involved must have been incredible.
No ride for me this morning. Walked 2.5 miles to bus. Meeting wife after work. Beer and pizza involved.

56f Chilly I actually put a windbreaker on this morning, and rode all the way in with the 3speeds drive train making all kinds of noise, I have no idea why yet.

Almost got right hooked this AM. Other than that a very pleasant ride in today. Weather cooperated all week, bikes seem to be running well, body was cooperating. As long as I get home in one piece, it will have been a very good week.

Ouch. Hope you heal quickly.Yesterday and today were almost identical. Warm and humid in the morning at about 78f, with afternoon highs in the upper 90'sf. Told a lady yesterday that she shouldn't park in the bike lane. She replied that there weren't any signs saying so...

Sorry to hear about that FunkyStickman! Here's to a speedy recovery and getting back on the bike soon!
Had a nice ride home yesterday. Been taking a slightly longer alternate route home of late, and the extra mile or two are nice. Last night's commute included a stop to buy a baguette for French-themed Bastille Day dinner.
Gusty winds again this AM but from the west so more of a crosswind than a headwind. Looking forward to nice ride home followed by a three day weekend!
No riding planned, but next weekend is an overnight trip out on the C&O...

Cold ride this morning. I saw the mama turkey with her babies again by the side of the road. I hope they don't sleep there in the ditch.

60F, gray, sprinkly. First ride in shimano spd sandals a success, even in size 46 (I am more like a 44.8 but they come only in 44 or 46).
Noticed that my bike computer, in addition to ~2% off from my phone gps in estimating distance, is also ~2% off in estimating rolling time.

FSM, sorry to hear about that, heal up fast.
I made my usual left hand turn into the top of a "T" intersection today from the bike lane. The car next to me made the same turn and then drifted over into the bike lane just in front of me and accelerating away, I kind of got the vibe that I was getting brushed back. Normally I wouldn't even comment but it was one of Fort Collins police officers that can't stay in the lane this morning.

This week was another 5 days riding to work and another 122 miles for me. 105 degrees the last few afternoons has made the ride home pretty hot. I stand under the ceiling fan in the living room and cool off for quite a while before I head for the shower.

Ouch! Really sorry to hear. 'shattered femur' always pairs with 'severed femoral artery' in my brain so really glad to hear you dodged that.

Hope you heal quickly, FunkyStickman. Since nobody else has asked yet, how did the accident happen?
My commute this morning was much less eventful than that, thank god. We are having a spell of perfect weather here in the DC area, highs in the 80's and no humidity. Brought out a lot of extra traffic on the trail this morning, but you can't blame everyone for wanting to take advantage of the nice conditions for exercise.

On the way home last night, I was coming up on two girls. The path is wide, but there was a big puddle on the left, so I just waited for them to pass it cuz I didn't want to splash them (freddy fenders!). One girl saw me out of the corner of her eye, said something and the other started moving into the puddle.
I said, "no no, please, you're fine, don't move" as the puddle was pretty deep.
She stopped, stood frozen.
I'm like, uhh, I didn't mean "don't move" at all, I'm not a cop or anything.

Ride home was pleasant. Was kinda tired after a wee of work so I didn't push hard, just enjoyed the evening. 4/5 this week, hoping for the same next week.

Some days you think you should have just taken the bus... ride out was great and was really enjoying the FG but on the way back some ass clown on a bike nearly took me out on the bridge when he crossed over the centre line because he was too busy checking out the ladies.
A few blocks later some ahole in a jacked up pickup is behind me at a left turn and after making the turn he drives beside me for a block telling me that I don't belong on the road...

A little humid but not bad. I could have lived without the headwind. I saw a woman riding a bicycle. She's a trail regular but always, until today, on foot. I guess she realized she could get to her destination faster on a bike.
