Tonight will be the first commute in well over a week... have been giving the ankle a rest as I seem to have done more than just sprained it and riding hurts less than walking.
A little cold, a little fresh snow... should be pretty... and slow. |
Simply stunning this morning, brisk, mid-low 30's, bright sun and blue skies; it does not get much better climbing in these mountains. The temps on the sleigh ride down the hill home were in the mid 50's and it was fun racing the quickly disappearing sunlight off the mountain. I don't mind being in town after dark, but running fast on two lane mountain roads is not my idea of fun in the dark.

Uptown, then downtown, then Brooklyn for a late night bite with a friend. A bit rainy but still plenty warm- no gloves. Got a flat on the way to Brooklyn but changed it quick and made it in pretty good time nonetheless.
No more working during the day and the night, now just evenings except on Saturdays and Wednesdays- a more livable schedule and a bit more time for some short fun rides during the week. |
A very warm morning at 61F (16C). I got 1 1/2 miles into the ride and it started pouring. I was prepared, but I had to bring extra clothes, due the temps falling throughout the day. This erratic weather is getting old; it is difficult to predict anything and you have to be prepared for everything.

Around 60 degrees for my first commute to my new office location. 10.x miles each way. I left my house at 5:40 and made it at 6:40, directly through downtown Tampa, with a few lights and minor stops for adjustments. Wasn't the most scenic ride I've ever done, but it was still nice to ride in.

Woke up this morning and there was frozen puddles in my driveway....i drove lol. I did however take a long way home last night, adding about 6 miles making it an 8 miler. Felt good afterwords. Have a nice day!

35F and gray. Still dry which is nice. 7 more commute days this year.
|
Rainy, as usual this time of year. I just realized I had a perfect November commuting record, and also in December so far. I missed one day in September. I'm kind of proud of that.
|
Mid-20s in Austin this morning. Note to self: buy some f***ing gloves!
|
-9C this morning, and no commuters spotted due to my late departure. There is supposed to be a very strong headwind for the ride home.
Tomorrow I'll be staying at the university late for a poorly advertised, poorly timed bicycle documentary screening / advocacy event. There isn't a single poster advertising it on campus, and very few details available online. I wouldn't have even known about it had I not got an email from a member of a cycling club. |
Snow flurries! First time this year. I had a doctor appointment before work and my 3.5 mile one-way commute was a 22-mile adventure instead. I rode the single-speed and enjoyed the bar-mitts. Thin wool gloves on and my hands were toasty. My feet on the other hand...
|
I drove this morning because it was about 20F. It warmed up today and is now a comfortable high 40's. I'm wishing I would have rode...:(
|
Excellent day today. Made some minor changes to my velomobile yesterday and this morning before I left, and it made a difference. Made great time on both commutes: http://ridewithgps.com/trips/461142.
52F and rain with mainly crosswinds and some headwinds from the NNW @ 3-6mph this morning. This was officially the fastest commute to school ever at 17.9mph moving average. 56F and light rain with mainly cross/headwinds from the NE @ 5-7mph for the commute home. This was also officially the fastest ride home I've ever had at 15.0mph moving average. There was a two car collision in downtown Palmer that tied up traffic a little. It must have just happened because the emergency crews were getting there right before I passed by. |
Rainy, windy, and traffic filled on the way home. Front tire rub on the fenders killed it.
|
Commute in was sunny and cool, had one car almost slide into me. Return home 2 drivers didn't see me, glad I saw them. The lights and reflective gear was not enough tonight I guess. I do love the snow here however!

A nice ride in and no rain, and the temps are seasonal, 34F (2C). I relished not having to deal with a downpour for my whole ride. I had 3 fans drying stuff out last night and some of it, is still wet.

Strong headwind the whole way in this morning, cold but very much bearable. |
Much colder and windy with temps in the 30s this morning after several days of unseasonably warm temperatures. I had to drive yesterday due to a dentist appointment at lunch time. That turned out to be fortunate because we had severe storms when a cold front came through in the afternoon. The storms passed during my usual commute hour with torrential rain and 60 mph gusts. The wind was blowing so hard that it blew over our huge rolling trash can -- that was full of trash. I would not wanted to have been riding my bike during that, and the storm lasted several hours so it would have been hard to wait out.

Cold still and dry this morning, probably around 28 degrees. Nothing too exciting, just the usual perils with the local high shcool CC team. At least all the ice from yesterday is gone.
|
26 slight west wind....Crossed the 5000 mile mark for 2011 about 6 miles into my ride...Another excellent day for a bike commute. :-)
|
Today was my 2nd commute. It was cold and crisp and felt great. It's only a 2 mile commute but I'm gonna go the long way around home and do about 10. I'm trying to build a base of 50 mi/week as I have just gotten into road cycling. This afternoon it should warm up to about mid 40's. Can't wait.
|
I have been driving my car this week because it was "cold." In the teens. I've ridden this cold in past years but didn't feel quite ready yet this year.
But as I drove to work in the mornings I'd been seeing my 60yo friend/neighbor Phil riding his bike to work (2 miles). He rides for the exercise, he says it makes his cardiologist happy. Decided I'd better htfu. 17F this morning. Bundled up. Of course it was not bad at all. |
Traffic was the worst I'd ever seen. It was so bad I had to detour onto another street to continue riding. Cars all over the place not leaving any clear lanes or gaps to ride in.
|
Another chilly morning ride. I don't know what happened in last couple of weeks but it really shouldn't be hovering around 30F for morning commute in Southern California?! I am just glad it is not raining.... (shivers). Wonderful relaxing commute as usual though :)
Edit: I just looked at forecast and found out it actually went down to 25f few times and planning to "rain" around 30F next week. Should be.... interesting... |
This mornings commute was interesting. I had a frame box strapped to the CETMA rack on the front of my bike. Normally this wouldn't be very "weird" for me. I tend to use my bicycle for everything from hauling cargo to fitness rides. However this morning the wind was gusting to 40mph and I had this huge box strapped to the front on the bike. Boy am I glad that ride is over.
