26F and partly sunny with no winds this morning. My cyclocomputer was really lagging at times. I believe that was due to the cold. There was a surprising amount of friendly drivers given that it was Friday.

48F and mostly cloudy on the commute home with mainly tailwinds and some crosswinds from the WSW @ 5-7mph. Left late and hit some bad school traffic getting onto Roosevelt Ave from the side street. I thankfully had no issues pulling out, but it took a while for some of the vehicles in front of me to pull out. Had someone take a pic of me with their phone while I was stopped at an intersection. I also hit extremely bad stop and go for ~0.9 miles coming through downtown Palmer. That was due to road construction with only one lane open and police directing the traffic. I could have easily passed the slow traffic, but I just pulled into the middle of the lane and paced the vehicle in front of me the whole time. Average speed was roughly only 10mph through that section.

I had a bit of a wipe-out on my commute today. It was my fault. I was riding on the sidewalk on a main road (where cars are going 50 - 60mph) that I had to take to cut off about six or seven miles off the commute. Well, there were three girls walking my way that didn't seem to give me any space to pass, so when we got at a crossing I swerved around them. Where I hit some sand and gravel and took a bit of a slide.

The girls turned around and ran to me asking "Oh my god! Are you okay?!"

I just got up surprised and said "I hope my bike's okay!"

Then they walked off and continued to be in awe and hoped that I was okay.

Pretty disappointed in myself for being impatient in passing them. Bike received a few scratches, and the left pedal is pretty much torn up. (I just bought this bike on Saturday, by the way). And my favorite pants got torn up along with my palms and forearm.

My mistake though. I'll learn for it. Still can't wait to ride to work tomorrow though! :)

This was a dream commute!! ;)

The weather was a nice 50ish and sunny. So, I called in that I am going to be late.. ;) Finally after about 2 hours pass my work time, I head out to work on my Litespeed. I am clipped in, and the 18 lb bike just makes a whooshing sound as I streak along!! ;) After about 8 miles to the subway, I am on the train. Looking at my watch I am almost a full 3 hours late now.. My stop coming up.. I get up, look at the sun out the window, then I set back down!! ;) Oh boy. I say to myself, the h*ll with work. I hit downtown Baltimore. I am hungry, I hit the market for some food, go to the Inner Harbor and suck up the sun while I eat my lunch..Then I start figuring out where I am going to ride.. Finally, I jump on another train, the Light Rail, and head towards BWI Airport. They have a sweet network of trails.

I get off the train..Don my sunglasses, and whoosh, the 18 lb Litespeed just takes off. ;) Flicking through the buttery smooth gears is joy to behold . I had one little problem, but I didn't let that spoil my ride. The spoke link that goes with my wireless computer had fell off. Hence no computer. No problem, I was just listening to the whoosh!! :)

That was my commute today. A no-go-to-work-and-ride-a-trail-commute!!! ;)

Not bad. 60 ish. Very comfortable ride.

I stopped by my LBS to replace a light that fell off this week. They were out of the light that I want but one of the guys put a Christmas ornament on my bike. :roflmao:

Was running late today so I drove (free campus parking on fridays makes this a terrible temptation). But there had been a spell of freezing rain earlier in the morning, so I think I averaged about 10 mph all the way to campus; it took me as long as it takes to bike, anyway, so the joke was on me.

Tomorrow they're calling for 50-70 mph southeast winds with 80 mph gusts, which is pretty much a direct headwind coming home. Were it the other way around, I'd be tempted to struggle to work just to ride that crazy tailwind home; as it is I see another car commute ahead of me. :(

I rode to work all five days this week. Between not riding much on the weekends and the days I took off because of bronchitis, my mileage in November wasn't very good at all. I was on a pace to end up with less than 500 miles for the month, which would leave me more than 500 miles to ride in December to make my mileage goal for the year. That could have been challenging if the weather doesn't cooperate. So I decided to take the long way home from work this week, adding an extra 10 miles to my ride, for a round trip total of 34.5 miles. I added the miles on quiet neighborhood roads, and on rural roads near Crowley. I did the extra miles all five days.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings were cold, just below freezing, and it was still pretty cool in the afternoons. Thursday was warmer, and this morning was in the 40's, but it felt cooler than that with a strong north wind and heavy mist. It just got colder throughout the day, a thick fog rolled in, and it misted on and off all day. I had already decided not to do the extra miles today, but by time to ride home, the mist had quit, the roads were in good shape, so I still did the extra 10 miles.

Monday was my 200th ride to work this year.

Had the day off yesterday so i went to my LBS in Soho and to pick something up on the UES. Nothing too bad while i was in Brooklyn, just alot of cops in Prospect park trying to ticket cyclists. Usually i take the Manhattan Bridge but i decided to use the Brooklyn this time so i had to go up Centre Street so around Canal some cab driver cuts me off and starts fighting with me when I tap his bumper. I decided not to lose it and keep my mouth shut. Other than that it was overall a nice ride with the exception of dealing with midtown traffic.

Went in at 8am today it was a brisk 19f, windy and 30f on the way home.

Day off today, so I cycled to the recycling center to dump some cardboard, rode to Subway for lunch, and then a 12 mile joy ride. Beautifully sunny day in the 40s.

Fast. Very, very fast. My moving average was 22.43 km/hr (13.94 mph). :giver:

I think that's my fastest moving average, so far.

My rear brake was squealing on Friday's ride home. So today in addition to installing a wireless cadence sensor, I took a look at the rear wheel. It was quite out of true, and I quickly noticed a broken spoke (head broke off at the hub). This is a wheel the LBS lent to me in July while waiting for a replacement 36 spoke Deore LX rear hub to get back in stock for a warranty replacement. I still have the spokes from the old wheel so I had plenty of spares.

40ºF, 25 mph wind, and rain. November had near record snowfalls, and broke a couple of daily low temp records, so many roads were 3-5 inches thick with ice before this storm hit. It poured rain and blew near hurricane force winds last night (peak gusts of up to 118 mph recorded up on Hillside), turning much of the ice into slush and making a few roads unrideable; plus the storm drains were still frozen under a thick coating of ice, so there was a lot of standing water. The 25 mph tailwind pushed me to work pretty fast, although a couple of hub-deep puddles slowed me down, as did the fact that I had to take the long way on account of the MUP connector into downtown being covered in bottomless slush. At least the wind died down to 15 mph for the ride back.

It was a decent morning at 38F (3 C). A little bit of fog, but not much.

Just above 40 when I rolled in so I was able to don the short riding pants and soft gloves (still need my OTG goggles to prevent tearing up).

After my second rear tail light broke off yesterday, I made a repair by bolting it to the flat surface of the rack. To do this I needed to remove the support strut (that bendy one that curves from frame to the flat part of the rear rack)...and now I have an annoying squeal from a rub somewhere.

I woulda known about this yesterday but I made the repair in my apt and then didn't go for a test ride.

Two days of work travel coming up so nio coimmutes.

It is in the teens right now and will be in the teens 3 more mornings while the front goes through, with Fog and snow - so you guys in Minnesota and Alaska go ahead and laugh and call me a pansy, but I'll be using the car few a few days - - When the morning lows shoot back up into the 30s I'll get back on the bike thank you very much

48F/9C with a decent tailwind. I thought cars were unusually slow until I looked down and saw I was riding the 25MPH speed limit. :o (Slight downhill incline helps.) Might get rain for the ride home.

Relatively warm morning in the low 50s F after temps near freezing the past few days. My legs were tired from riding a metric century yesterday, so I took it easy but still made fairly good time. I've started leaving from home earlier in the morning (about 6 am) due to my longer commute and the traffic is less but it is dark for much of my ride.

-20C with a 10km/h headwind this morning, so it was back to the goggles and respirator. Yet tomorrow will be above freezing again. I took the mountain bike today since I had moved the lights over to it before I got around to fixing the spoke on my touring bike. I think I'll stay on the mountain bike until we get another snow. It handles the bumpy, rutted ice a lot better. The one tricky underpass got plowed, so I don't have to get off the bike now.

I am getting very annoyed with my Light and Motion Stella headlight. It has a pathetically short runtime in cold weather, not even enough time for a round trip. And on several occasions including yesterday it has refused to charge. I plugged it in yesterday morning and the charger went to solid red to indicate it was charging. Last night the light was green indicating it was finished. But within 30 seconds of turning it on this morning it started flashing to indicate the power was low, and it died completely within 20 minutes.

Somewhere in the high 40s and I was far too overdressed. Three layers of gloves and two pairs of socks were fine but 4 layers up top was overkill with the shell jacket. I should've known when I left the house and I wasn't cold to begin with.

Great commute this morning at 49F and overcast with mainly crosswinds from the SSW @ 7-9mph. There were quite a bit of trucks scattered about on different roads clearing trees and branches from the end of October's snow storm damage.

12F (-11C) and breezy. Streets were dry, so I'm still holding off on the studded tires.

46F and rainy! I rode my 'bent to work for the first time in months. I just got it put back together last night. It's also the first time in months I've used clipless pedals.

Variety is good!

Stopped to push a bunch of traffic cones out of the bike lane a couple blocks from work.

High 40's, dry with Santa Ana winds gusting to 30 mph (headwinds, naturally).
Rode a 10,000 ft century on Saturday in the same conditions. I'm tired of cold headwinds.
