Love that show!! Other than that I have nearly no use for television but I do love me some zombies!

45F and partly cloudy, nice and dry

canyoneagle 06-16-11 09:31 AM

55F, rode the Marinoni today. What a frigging hoot.

Rides so nice am forgetting to post. Getting warmer again in DC, had to be in early so nice empty city streets. thiniking I need to adjust my seat up a bit, I've never felt I'm getting a good extenssion of my legs.

Loving my first road bike I got ever... Got me Scott Addict R3 and having blast with it for past 3 weeks of commuting. I can wake up later, If I am tardy, there is a good chance I can make the train by just pushing myself, just blast to ride around. I've started catching train that is one station further away just so I can get more ride on it... Commuting just approached a new level (probably until newness levels off).

Beautiful day. Warm, light breeze, high wispy clouds. Took the long way in. Life is good.

SouthFLpix 06-16-11 01:46 PM

I was watching a documentary on Graeme Obree last night, and thought it was interesting that he trained for the hour record with a huge gear to get his legs used to holding that gear for an entire hour. So I figured my commute is flat, why not? So I set my bike to 50x11 and left it there as if it was a single speed. I'm completely cooked, but I feel like it was one of the best workouts I've had in a long time.

dcb23 06-16-11 04:03 PM

I spoke too soon up there! Major downpour for the ride home, started after 5 min in, got my jacket on and al was well. Cleared all the tourists from my path.

daijoubu2k8 06-16-11 04:08 PM

Nice ride, but a little chillier than usual today. Managed to patch the hole in my rear tire on Tuesday night and it's held up well. Unfortunately it's clouded over and they don't look like they're going to go away by 4pm.

Grim 06-16-11 08:23 PM

Cold front/rain that came through last night made for mid 60's ride in that was very nice Humidity wasnt all that bad today so the ride home was nice despite nearly 90f.

Very, very wet.

It's been raining a lot here lately (Plum Rain season, from June-July) but this morning it wasn't so I decided I'd ride in. Weather forecast seemed to suggest thunder showers later, but nothing serious. Got half way to work when the skies opened up. The rain was so heavy that I got absolutely soaked, even with my rain coat. Got to work and discovered that my panniers weren't as waterproof as I'd hoped, so my change of clothes was damp. Not a great way to start a day with no completely dry clothes, but I kept happy and had a great day anyway. Learned that from now on, no matter what the weather forecast says, I'll put my clothes into a plastic bag before putting them into the pannier. Better safe than sorry. :)

It stopped raining some time after lunch, but then started up again when I was about half way home (though thankfully no where near as heavily as in the morning. )

tarwheel 06-17-11 06:03 AM

I drove yesterday because the forecasters said it was going to rain, rain, rain. We didn't get a drop. That's OK, however, because I had some errands to run and the laundry was piling up in my office. So I ran my errands, including picking up some new bike shorts, and then went kayaking after work for my daily exercise. That was a nice change of pace. It was a beautiful evening on the lake.

vtjim 06-17-11 06:08 AM

A bit warm, but nice. 70F/21C with a light headwind. I went a couple blocks out of my way and stopped at Maglianero, a very cyclist-friendly coffee place (indoor bike parking, for example), and they filled my Trek mug with a mocha latte. :thumb:

Yesterday on my ride home, something was attempting to reel me in. I spotted some color in my mirror, quite a ways back, and it was slowly reeling me in as I'm more respectful of stop signs than the average cyclist. When the MUP opened up though, I spooled up to 20MPH and held it. Didn't see the person again. When I got home I said to my wife, "I had a shadow!" She said, "Did you make it your b!tc$?" I about fell over laughing.

TGIF!

Fizzaly 06-17-11 06:31 AM

47F Nice morning still a bit chilly but at least the winds died down a bunch and finally it seems no rain in the forecast for the next week. (now I wish I didn't say anything:))

EDIT: Ha since I looked at 4:30am this morning the forecast has changed to rain this weekend and rain next thurs and fri, stupid weather

idc 06-17-11 07:07 AM

I rode (just the 3 miles to the Metro) yesterday and the day before but I figured it was just too wet today. Still, I always feel sad when I drive past other commuters on the way in.

scottsmith 06-17-11 07:26 AM

Very nice out this morning. Could feel some humidity but it was cool enough (15-ish C) that it didn't matter. Saw a few more cyclists in the group that passes me on Fridays (going opposite directions) near the start of my ride and because I left late today, I actually saw that they head toward Orillia after my concession.

Also saw a few more casual/commuting cyclists than usual on my way into Barrie.

Cheers

Another note from my ride this morning: I had to slow down for some pedestrian turkey that just couldn't wait for me to go by before jay-walking. :p

No seriously. It was a turkey, of the wild variety. We've got a bunch of them in the woods and natural area surrounding our house. I only saw 3 hens this morning, but I've seen big groups of 15-20 of them from time to time. The toms sometimes puff all up and look really impressive.

The closer I got to the hen crossing the street, the faster she ran. It was a bit comical.

groovestew 06-17-11 08:29 AM

Weather forecast said cloudy and showers, but it was all sunshine and lollipops for the commute in. Wet streets from last night's rain, so I took the fendered bike today.

You mean you couldn't feel the heat from all the burning cars in Vancouver? Sorry... couldn't resist. In all seriousness, sorry about the 'Nucks. I was pulling for 'em.

Great ride home last night after the downpour had passed (made staying a little late more palatable). Good ride in this morning, too. Roads wet from overnight storms, but everything felt clean and no wind to speak of from any direction.

Looks like this week's respite from the heat is over. Back to near 90 today with the heat building back in over the next several days. :(

Just imagine how bright it would be in Puget Sound if the cup was in Vancouver!

I took a different longer route home last night and found a hill I couldn't climb. It's around mile 3:

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=206837

If I had known how close I was to the top I could have made it, but there was a sharp corner and I had my sights set on getting to it, then almost collapsed. Next time I'll do it.

My cool down ride sucks.
