put bigger tires on one of my bikes, and already had a bigger gear then i usually have (fixed gear bike) and the ride in today was pushhhhhing it.
down hills where nice tho |
Easy ride in. Cooler than expected -- was wearing arm and knee warmers and probably could have used a windvest too. Will summer ever arrive in Sacramento? I have my doubts.
|
I was feeling guilty about driving today, but not anymore. We are having severe thunderstorms with high winds, hail and flash flooding. Not a good day to be on the bike. I had my suspicions when I saw the forecast and radar this morning and decided to drive rather than deal with the foul weather with all the tornadoes, etc. around lately.

Drove yesterday due to threat of thunderstorms. GLAD I did it was coming down by the bucket, flooded the streets in some places a foot deep. Half way home lightning struck off to my right possibly in my neighborhood and a couple seconds later it hit the power pole about 500 feet in front of me and blew the street light apart.
Streets still wet this morning so I left the hot rod at home and rode in the T700 with fenders. Was nice despite the occasional puddle and the ride home was great and on vacation till June 6th. Got a 40 mile no drop Monday morning I plan to do. May do a 20 tomorrow. Sometime next week I hope the ride the last part of the Silver Comet trail that I have not had a chance to see (Rockmart to the AL line). |
A cold and rainy ride home. All my stuff was snug and dry in garbage bags inside my panniers. I had the roads and trails to myself. No joggers, no rollerbladers, no commuters, not even that dorky guy with the aero bars who rides the MUP like he's in the TDF.
WHERE WERE YOU ALL, YOU WUSSIES? :-p |
First day on the bike in a week because of constant threat of storms since Monday, and man I felt it this morning. I felt I was just crawling, yet when I got to my office I realized I set a PR this morning. It was cool, especially for the last week of May, about 50*. Nice ride except someone who felt the need to park in the bike lane on a downhill! :notamused:
On the way home, another good ride, it was cool and cloudy, about 60*. I actually rode in my work clothes home and barely broke a sweat. About a 1/2 mile from my apartment I got buzzed by some jackhole teenage with his g/f in the car. Pissed me off, but I let it roll off best I could. |
I managed to cut 13 minutes off of my return commute, on my SS no less. WOO HOO!! I am getting faster
|
13min is a huge time improvement!
im happy with single minutes! |
really nice for a ride today!

Ha! Actually my daughter won that, but I carried it for her. It's a Donkey Boxx. I've already attached it to her bike.
I have a feeling I know you, but I can't figure who you are. |
Finally got some clear glasses, and now my eyes don't itch like crazy by the time I get in. I actually saw another bicyclist on my brief stint on the bike trail. Normally I'm the only one crazy enough to be on there at night, but this guy actually stopped and pulled over, staring at me as I passed. It was weird..maybe he was so surprised by another bicyclist he had to just stop and stare ?

Very nice ride in today. Sunny, no wind and about 18 C. I decide to count how may rider from my 13 miles commute and came with around 130. Can't wait to ride back home now.. sadly it is an other 7 hrs away....
|
8C at my house when I left, but felt warmer by the time I got downtown. Sunny and a little breezy.
|
44f Cloudy morning and a bit humid, was supposed to be my first day back to work from vacation but I am apparently not even supposed to be here today so I'm gonna stay for a half day to make the ride worth it and go home early . I gotta say I already really really miss the Oregon coast :(

Didn't commute tonight and spend time making a cheap led dynamo headlight while spend less than 10$!

I'm back after months away. I was keeping the car close for when my wife went in to labor. Took me 7.5 weeks after my daughter's birth to actually get back on the bike (plus the several weeks before her birth).
Since I'm out of shape for having been away for so long, I went multi-modal, riding the bus for about 2/3 of my total distance. With the weather in the mid-30s C (mid-90s F), it was quite warm. The roads were nice and empty with today being Memorial Day. Today's ride: about 6 km (3.7 mi) in about 21 minutes. |
Bike to Work day here.. had a nice ride down, quite a few people at the end, quickie free breakfast too. Picked up a new side mirror for the ride after work and very pleased with it considering the cost $4.50.. :) Weather was great for to and fro commute wished most days were like this.

As it has been for the last couple weeks, the wind was at my face the whole time! I swore, sweated, cursed, sweated some more, cranked up the last hill swearing, cussing, and farting and finally made it to work.
My first thought? This is FUN! Why would anyone ever drive? |
A very nice warm ride this morning. This past weekend was nice also; cycled down the C&O canal to Georgetown and spent the long weekend there. Tooled around DC on bikes, metro and buses. Checked out favorite places, then back up the canal yesterday. I don't mind
the heat, so it was a great weekend. |
Rode my backup bike in. Much faster than my crosscheck like 8-10 minutes faster. A dog started chasing me out of the blue, I really never seen it, I took off when I heard the scratching of dog paws on the pavement and a low growl. Probably a little dog if it couldnt catch me. Oh yea, and it was trash day, so aromatic when it is warm out. Still a beautiful day and looking forward to a 90 degree ride home. I think the last one was last September.
|
It was extremely warm for a 7am commute (75F) and I'm still commuting in jeans because I don't want to bring extra pair of shorts (I bring a pair of fresh unders though). It was a fast commute though, as I barely had to stop for any red lights (got lucky) - mostly at Washington Circle/K St I get stuck several times but not today - all green lights!
Now going home, it's supposed to be in the 90s... |
Mornings have been really humid here in the south for the past few weeks. Even with a very decent temp the humidity will leave you finishing with a wet shirt, even on a <5 mile ride.
|
62F/16C and 82% humidity at the moment. I saw bmike enjoying the Adirondack vistas. :) I would have stopped to chat but I was in a hurry to get to a place I read about over the weekend and then get to work without being too late...
...A nifty cyclist-oriented coffee place. Complete with a shower. Loads of room to bring your bike right inside. Tools if you need to repair anything. A tire pump. Coffee, food, etc. Pretty cool place. Only adds about 4 blocks to my commute, so I'll probably be going in there regularly. Here's a Link to an article about it. |
Started using a pannier rather than a backpack this week. Although the extra drag of a full pannier is a little annoying (especially noticeable when coasting), it is really nice to have the weight off my back. :)
|
After doing a 45-miler this weekend, and then eating prolific amounts of BBQ afterwards, I was looking forward to getting back on the bike today. It's very warm and muggy, but otherwise was a nice commute.
