Hot recovery drink?

My morning commute leaves me waiting for train for 10-15 minutes waiting out in cold sometimes. After breaking some sweat, etc... I find it nice to have hot cocoa or something warm in thermo to keep me warm waiting for it. As of late, I've been pushing it a little more and want something to help on recovery as well.
Is there recovery drink I can mix with hot water and doesn't taste horrible?

TIA.

Here we have what we call the 'Finnish Handwarmer', a heavy ceramic cup with hot water in it.

You could separate the sports goo from the hot tea, administer each separately.

read the ingredients, and see what chemicals, there, you feel the need for..

Or, bring fruit, eat that on the train?

This time of year, my water bottle typically freezes, so a big treat (when it thaws a bit...) after the commuter is water...

I've used Hammer products for a while and like them, including their recovery drink. You could probably mix something like that with hot water instead of cold to get your recovery fix.

I'd just put tea in the thermos as opposed to the hot cocoa, while not aimed specifically at recovery a spot of green tea is bound to be much healthier for your body than the cocoa is.

I'm pretty sure I read something recently about chocolate milk being a great recovery drink. Heat it up, and voila!

In my thermos:

2 cups milk, 2 tablespoons sugar, 2 tablespoons straight cocoa. Heat the milk and stir in the sugar and cocoa. Probably very similar to chocolate milk.

EDIT: Or you could go super recovery drink and get those powdered chocolate breakfast mixes that you put in milk. Sort of a hot chocolate smoothie.

Drink a hot toddy and eat a banana.

Chocolate Milk is a great recovery drink- I don't see why good hot chocolate wouldn't be the same.

Bikes: I have 3 singlespeed/fixed gear bikes

In winter time I carry two thermoses instead of water bottles. One has black tea and the other hot chocolate.Hot instant soups are also great in winter time.

In the 70 and 80 dog mushers would take out hot Tang. In cold mornings I take hot tea. Then when I get to work I just add more hot water. But if you are riding far just put what ever you normally ride/recovery drink just warm. I would try it first at home to see how it tastes but most powders are fine, I think.

I make my gatorade with hot water so it dissolves the powder better. That way it doesn't freeze on my way to work. And it doesn't taste horrible either.

About 14 miles in the morning before catching on train I started using it for interval now that I am used to the distance once or twice a week. I do 30 miles round trip a day. I am okay with hot cocoa but I figured anything with good proportion of protein would be better. (Other than energy drink while riding, it's the first thing I am eating/drinking in the morning). And problem is, I am on train for next one hour after the ride until actual breakfast in office. I have been doing hot cocoa and chewing cliff bar but wanted something a little more convenient than... stiff cliff bar.
I am thinking powdered milk with cocoa mix would be pretty good based on general consensus here?

I use Muscle Milk 100% whey protein mixed with hot water (sensitive front teeth) and that really helps. It's also helping out with the diet I am currently on. I've been using this since October and it's been working very well for me (helping me lose 55 pounds in fat and gaining some in muscle, especially in the lower body - obviously).

Hot chocolate, skinny latte, coffee .... I don't see how you could do much better than hot chocolate tho.

I carry a 20-ounce thermos with either:

-Peppermint mocha latte (home version of Starbucks). Recipe is 2/3 cup of Illy Moka coffee (made in a Bialetti stovetop espresso maker, though not really espresso), plus 2 tablespoons of mocha powder, 2 tablespoons of peppermint syrup (not extract!), 2 tablespoons of hot water (mix together). Add 16 ounces of steamed skim milk. It's about 220 calories, so not a light option.

-20 ounces of Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea (two bags in bottle). No calories.

Of course, I also carry water in a podium bottle for the ride itself. The "recovery" drinks usually last me the whole day.
