I used to ride 4 days a week with a day of bus/train/subway annoyances to give my body some time to repair. The commute was 25km in and out of work, which makes 200km a week. After this I got a new function at an other company and that doubled the distance.
Though last week I did the 'Ronde van Vlaanderen' and noticed that I can do 80km a day. So why not ride one day a week, which makes around 100km.
So this Tuesday I am starting to commute again, one day a week. 100km a week. I'm looking forward to it.

So far I'm 9/9 over the last two weeks...I have every other Monday off due to working 9 hours days...My plan is to bike every day I work till the snow flies again.

I'm on the bike unless its pouring rain, too much snow on the road, or way to cold. For 2010 that was 85% of the time. Since I started commuting almost 3 years ago I have never said "don't feel like riding today".

I ride as much as possible, with 5 days a week being my standard that I try to meet.
I'm not much of a morning person, so I don't always hold to that ideal, and sometimes value an extra hour of sleep over riding. With this in mind, 4 days is a normalized average, it seems.

Since I don't work, my commute is bringing my daughter home from school, so I do it 5 days a week, through cold and snow, rain or shine (except for school holidays and when the school closes due to weather).

Recently I've been commuting to school 4 days a week totaling 150-160 miles. I use the other day as a rest/drive day so my car gets driven at least once a week and I don't get burned out.

I usually commute 2 or 3 days a week. I work at home one day and take public transportation on days I need to rest or have other work commitments. Wednesdays are the days I normally need to rest my legs.

I have a standing appointment Wednesday mornings, so I have to take my wife's van Tuesday nights. I voted 4, if I didn't have the appointment I would ride five days a week.

I do my 40 mile round trip commute 4 days a week, sometimes five. I've been doing it for the past 3 years and love it. I still can't find a way to make it possible to still feel my feet after an hour in 25 deg f or less...but I grunt it out...

I work 12 hour shifts so I work only 3-4 days a week; except for one odd situation last week, I have not missed a day of commuting to work since January 9 (last week I worked a 56 hour week that included some training that was located about 40 miles from my house; that day I chose to drive to a co-worker's house and ride in with him). I will also confess to accepting a ride home from a friend from an after-work dinner when the weather was really cold; as a rule I don't ask for rides home, but will accept them on rare occasion if offered.

I ride every day, but my other transportation option is my feet! There is public transit, but the way the routes are set up, I would still have to walk about half the distance, so it seems a bit pointless.

I'm going to start commuting this week as I finally got around to buying a suitable commuter.
My commute is 43km round trip, and includes a ferry crossing of the Huangpu River (no other way across for bikes
). I'm planning to start at 2 days a week and move to 3 if and when I feel comfortable with it. Sure looking forward to the fun of it, especially as I tried out the trip today and my new bike felt GREAT!

before I picked up a road bike I had been walking to work for a few months straight, rain or shine (it didn't rain even once during that 3 month period). Around the end of february it was getting warm enough that I had to shower when I got to work anyway, so I decided to pick up a road bike so that I could at least get there a lot faster.
I live next to a metro station but it would only get me half a mile closer to work, so it's never worth it.
Moving to Seattle soon, but it's looking like I'll be working in Redmond or Bellevue so my commute might become bike + bus or walk + bus soon

Depending on where in Seattle and where in Bellevue or Redmond, an all-bike commute could still be viable. Even in the dead of winter there are plenty of bike commuters on I-90 between Seattle and Bellevue.

When I see this kind of poll, I'm always wishing there was a way to observe the seasonal effect, because I am all but alone each winter, and yet for a few weeks each spring there are zillions of cyclists out before most go away. Also, as many posters observed, sometimes work gets in the way if you have to carry something really large, or bad weather, or bad temps, so I would be interested (and I'm not going to try to launch a poll) to have more of a comparison of how many days you were in-office for the past 12 months or prior year (for those not working in a home office) and of those workdays, how may were bike commuting days, because I'm really more of an 18 or 19 workdays out of 20 average on a year-round basis, than a 5 for 5. As well as your temp range for the year (mine was -2F to 104F, dry bulb, last 12 months).

Every day. When I made this decision, I figured it was all or nothin'. Knowing my inherently lazy ( I lovingly call it mellow) disposition, if I started driving now and again, it would quickly become every day despite how much I currently love my every day bike rides.
