Help me PIMP my Dew Plus!

Well I got a Kona Dew Plus today. It looks like this one:
https://www.konaworld.com/bike.cfm?content=dew_plus

Some parts of the frame appear black in that pic, but the whole frame is navy blue.

With the white accents on the frame, I think white accessories would look real sharp and make the bike "pop"!

I'm having a hard time finding a white rear rack and fenders. Everything seems to come in black and silver...If you guys know of any, I'd greatly appreciate it!

If not could you suggest a rack and fenders that I could attempt my own custom paint job on?

thanks!

A white rear rack and fenders??? You must like to clean all the time. Do you have OCD?

You would have no problem painting fenders or a rack. Any plastic fender like Planet Bike or SKS can be painted. Even Honjo's can be painted look at Chris King bikes with his painted fenders. Scuff up the plastic with sandpaper and use the right spray paint. You need a paint that is flexible, for example a paint that can be used on plastic lawn furniture, maybe Krylon. Same with the rear rack, make sure it is clean and use something like Tremclad or Rustoleum and spray paint away. I would think the rack might take a beating and have the paint chip off when using it, but all you would have to do is take it off and do it again, you will have already bought the paint. As for what racks, well I am partial to the Axiom line of racks but there are so many out there, it is not hard to choose.

+1 I personally tend to shy away from light colors, especially regarding clothing.

I think Axiom makes a white rack that has a black deck on it. A friend of mine at the shop has one.

If money isn't a factor. Find a rack you like and a set of metal fenders (I recommend the VO fenders) and get them powder coated. You can also take bits from your bike and powder coat them to match too; cranks, stem, etc.

Can't help with the white rack/fenders problem, but wanted to congratulate you on your New Dew.

Thanks for the help guys! You're right, am a bit crazy for wanting white fenders considering I will be wiping them down all the time. My riding won't be too muddy, just water. So after a ride, it will be very easy to just wipe the top of the fenders after a ride and they won't look so dirty.

I think I'm gonna go for the Planet Bike Cascadia black fenders and use blackcoud's advice on how to paint 'em!

And
The Axiom black and white bike rack

I'll be honest, I'm very new when it comes to bike parts/components/accessories. Do you see any installation issues with these items? The Dew frame is made for accessories but I just want to be sure.

Thanks for the help guys!

Didn't see this until today, but you shouldn't have too many issues. The one thing to be concerned with, perhaps, is disk brakes, and whether or not that rack will mount around the calipers? I can't remember if Kona revised the Dew line to bring the rear caliper inboard of the triangle or not...

that axiom rack is pretty slick but it wont work too easily with my frame. It didn't come with mounting hardware and I gotta do some mods if i want it to work. Instead I'm gonna ditch my white accessory hopes and go with a black Topeak rack and black cascadia fenders...

This is the way to go. One can negotiate w/a sandblast/powdercoat business to put bike parts in with a run of the same color. For example I got my frame and fork done for 75.00 in sparkle black because the painter had a run of car parts. But, along with others I'm a little dubious on white accessories on an all-weather commuter. But, the combo would look real nice on the bike you've purchased.

I run a Topeak Supertourist DX (Black) and the PB Hardcore fenders, and they look sharp. My Dew is black, though, so black is just right for me :-)

Whatever you do, I'm sure your Dew will look awesome.
