There's actually a TV show on Travel Channel called 'Triple Rush' Don't know if it is still on or not. It was about bike messengers in NYC. Crazy riding in the show too. Did teach me that they make pittance for pay and if you don't know where you're going, you won't make any money.

I would love to commute like that alongside traffic, but without cutting off pedestrians and cross traffic. Yeah, it is turds like those riders that give the rest of us a bad name.

I agree with others. This is not a typical commute for me and I first watched that video many years ago when YouTube didn't even have an HD option... it was HQ. Riders like this give us all a bad name and is not encouraged unless you want to make cyclist look bad.

That's just like my commute except I ride in dress pants, button down shirt, and wingtips.

Every time I watch a video about cycling in NYC, I think two things:
1. NYC cyclists (at least the ones wearing cameras) are really rude and really unsafe.
2. Cycling makes a lot of sense in NYC. It seems way faster in traffic, even without being rude and unsafe.

My old commute was filmed by a local TV station:

I now have a shorter, urban route. I also rarely ride the recumbent these days.

My commute is even relaxing--not death-defying and idiocy-displaying.
Ride smart, ride safe, and ride with a lick of sense.

We should impound bicycles for severe safety hazards. Then you can't get it out until you pay a $50 fine and watch a video about how to ride a bike safely. Every. Single. Time. I don't care if you saw it last week, when we impounded your bike last time; you're watching it again until it sinks in.

What's your point, anyway? That these cyclists should be excused?
