People riding is kinda fun, especially teenage girls in F150 pickups, but I always ask permission first.
If they say no, I just ride my bike, it never says no, but it isn't as much fun.
Last winter I was riding to work and was stopped at a light in the right lane, and a motorist behind me who wanted to turn right, started honking his horn and yelling at me. I could have squeezed over, but at this point, I was peeved enough not to move. The guy kept yelling and I turned and said "have a nice day", this infuriated the driver and he opened his car door and said "If there weren't other people here I'd teach you a lesson. "
I replied " Oh a tough guy, huh?", which wasn't the best reply, but I couldn't believe he thought he was justified in beating me up, because I delayed him for 30 seconds. Luckily the light turned and I went straight and he went right and that was that.
I avoided that intersection for the next couple of weeks.
I think the best thing to do is smile and wave. It throws them off. Like when bums ask me for spare change, I always say " No thanks, man, I don't need any money. Thanks for offering"

So does this make me a bad person? Am I going to hell?

I think it's too bad that what you did could be construed as "assault". I seriously doubt the girl was complimenting your legs or riding style, she was just being an idiot. To think people in a pickup would be intimidated by a guy on a bicycle is actually very funny. Despite some objections that cyclists who take no s*** give us a bad name, I too have a hard time not reacting when someone ensconced within a 3000# hunk of metal thinks it's funny to scream at me.

Check out the "Air Zounds" airhorn if you haven't already seen 'em. If you're all hung-up on aesthetics they may not be something you'd want to attach to your bike, but they're certainly loud.

I've twice been yelled at by teens who were with friends in a car. One time, they pulled on to a side street and I followed, and said "would you please not do that." The guy who had yelled at me just said something like "okay" but he sure looked like he wasn't going to do it again. The second time, I chased this car, which was stuck in traffic moving at about the same speed I was riding, and they took a few turns through which I followed them, but I never caught up. It definitely looked like they didn't want to be caught. Nobody wants to be confronted in person for the stupid things they do, but they think that they can get away with stuff because cars are so fast. They don't realize that in a lot of places, bikes are just as fast as cars.

Yeah, I've shared in a previous thread about chasing a pickup-driving yahoo. I was on the way home from work and wearing chinos and a buttondown shirt with a tie. I thought I looked and sounded perfectly respectable in my offer to calmly discuss California traffic law. But the guy must have thought otherwise because he ran through a red light to get away from me.
Tough guy, for sure.

Bad? Not by any means!! I think people tend to be rude to cyclists and it can get on your nerves to the point where you do something! Going to hell? Surely not! But making someone laugh with that story? Of course!

I think that's a funny story. Society is ridiculous. If it's "assault" to knock on their window, it must have been "murder" when they went flying past shouting at you. Your next of kin are in for a big cash settlement.
