It's not a problem when you don't have time to go get lunch, because there's always something in the seat bag, bottom of the panniers, etc.

Still trying. Even willing to risk 5-7 over in the school zone next to work, but they just go after the drivers who "must pass the bike, no matter what." I should be getting a commission on those tickets.

They're more likely to reek if left for a couple of days, so they generally get tossed in with any load that doesn't require hot water or bleach. With a toddler and an infant around, that gives me about three opportunities a day.

You're a real hardcore commuter, as opposed to just an internet wannabe, if you're out riding instead of sitting in front of the computer contributing to threads with titles like "you know you're a hard core commuter if..."

Unless they have changed from 20 years ago, you don't have any bike specific clothing. It is sometimes change the shirt miday, and new deodorant multiple times a day.

...someone mentions a great job opportunity to you, and your first thought is whether there is a good bike route to the company's office.

...you start your car every few months to circulate the fluids, and wonder how many years it's supposed to go between oil changes. Meanwhile, your head is filled with plans for renovating the drivetrain on your commuting bike and expanding its cargo capacity.

You have an infrared com device plugged into one of your USB ports so you can upload the exercise data off of your HRM, in which you have your current best-time for your commute as a wall paper on your desktop...

You know you are a hard-core commuter if you get up in the morning, get on your bike and just ride regardless of the weather.

Oh, and if you clean up after the ride using rubbing alcohol and and hand sanitizer you won't care much for a deodorant. Those two are better deodorants than anything else.

People you hardly know approach you with questions like, "say, I hear you know about bicycles and I was just wondering what bike would be good for....."

Cary extra clothing in a pannier I only check the radar map to see what's ahead for the next hour. Weather forecasts are mostly uninformed opinions these days anyway.
