Better Commuter Bike
I would just like a bit of advice from y'all on which of these bikes would serve as a better commuter bike (considering the price):
A slightly used 2009 khs flite 220 road bike for $375
or a much older Vintage Fuji S12-S 18 Speed Road Bike with new brake levers, tires, rims, and wiring for $250.
Basically, is the khs flite 220 worth the extra 125 bucks?
Thanks!

In Seattle I'd look them over, & use the one that can fit fendersfor our wonderful seattle weather, 32mm tires for our wonderful seattle streets. Beyond that ride 'em & see what you like assuming that the overall condition is the same.
On the fine points I'm a bit partial to the Fuji just because it's lugged, but if older it may still use 27" tires, vs 700c, which are a bit tougher to get (in good quality) these days.
The KHS has some pointes as well in terms of more modern parts et al. & nothing wrong with tig welded steel.
Personally I'm still on my old Trek pending a possible change to the upcoming LHT disc version..

There are a lot of factors that go into choosing a good bike, and it's hard to discuss two bikes with no idea of what condition they are in.
I am partial to old school steel frames, and if I can find one in good shape for cheap on craiglist I grab it, even if I don't need it. If it were me, I would go for the less expensive Fuji

Adding to Tromper's post I'd say ride both if you can and just try to get a feel for how each rides. Close your eyes for a minute if you have to. What I mean is if you can get your "head out of the bike" you should be able to feel how tight the bike is, how smooth or harsh the ride is, etc. We get caught up in components sometimes and can loose sight of the way it feels when you ride it.
