Anyone else seeing more commuters?
I rarely see any other bike commuters on my routes, but saw 3 Monday and a different 1 today. The 3 on Monday all had bright lights on, and the guy I saw this morning looked like he'd been commuting for a while too. What a nice change after a summer with what seemed like an unending number of ninja salmon dog walkers and cars that were intent on buzzing me.

Despite overall numbers being down since the time change and temperature dropping there are a lot more cyclists (and runners) out there these days with full lights and dedicated rigs than ever before. It's great to see some traffic on the evening commute. The casual path user has hung it up for the year. I like it.

compared to last month or last summer, there are definitely less. but comparing november 2011 to november 2008, there are definitely more bike commuters on chicago's lakefront path these days, without question.

No, once it starts getting colder and darker, only the hardcore riders are left. However, I rarely ever see other bike commuters even when the weather is nice and the days are long.

There's one guy I try to keep up with, I figure he'll be the death of me...of course he's cheating by using an electric bike.

I know there are more since the downturn, but not sure if that is related to the price of gas or not. Last uptick it was related to the price of gas.

Nope, not this time of year.
This weekend brings the first REAL storm of the year (though we've already had several snows, but Indian summer has prevailed) so I would imagine it will be the breaking point for the part-year commuters. With one exception in the past 3 weeks, everyone I've happened to chat with along the way is in it until the weather turns.
Last winter I would MAYBE see one other cyclist along my route.

Last week I narrowly missed a bike ninja, and saw another cyclist heading the opposite direction in the morning. It was too dark to see if either was a commuter or not, but they remain the only other cyclists I've seen while commuting.

I commute on NW 19th in OKC. I often see a commuter going in the opposite direction. Before it started getting a bit nippy, I saw another commuter going my direction a couple of times. Commuting does not seem very popular here.

No. Roadies once in while out for a training ride in the morning or evening. Have seen a few recreational 'wobblers' out over the summer when I ride through town. A couple of times before DST in October I'd see rec riders on the Natchez Trace Parkway on my homeward leg. Nobody consistantly, though. It's too bad. This is a real nice area for the most part.

I seem to be. There weren't too many in Spring and Summer, but now I'm seeing a fair amount, despite nasty, cold, windy, wet weather.

Working third shift, I don't see many other commuters. There are two other guys that I see occasionally, through out the spring/summer. I got to talk to one of them one time. He told me that he quits riding in November, until April, during that time, he walks where he need to go.

We have seen a steady increase in the overall number of bike commuters here and quite an increase in the number of people who have decided to ride in the winter... they might not be riding today as we got hammered with our first winter storm and the temperature was -30C last night.

There's been a dramatic increase in commuters here because of the economic crisis and rising cost of gas, "but" they're what I call fresh-water commuters... I see them during the day, under ideal conditions; if there's clouds in the sky or even a remote possibility of rain, most of them are taking their cars or public transport.
Never-the-less, on any given good day, I will see 10-15 commuters going both ways on my 15 mile commute; six months to a year ago that number would seldom reach 4-5 cyclists.
