Argh!

Flat Tire, afraid it's a blow out, economical challenged at the moment.

Oh well tomorrow I will try to fix that.

Nice one tkblazer. Welcome to the club! That's a fairly hefty commute - how often are you going to do it?

i hope to do it 2-3 times a week :thumb:

First ever post in bikeforums.net!

I've been doing split-commutes to work for the last four weeks ...drive in with bike on Tuesday, ride home (15 miles) that evening, leaving car at work; take a break Wednesday; ride in on Thursday morning, drive home with bike. I plan to double the mileage starting next week, now that my legs, lungs, and sit-bones are getting used to the mileage.

My first mishap happened today...blew both tires about four miles from home. There's a sharp edge of a curb from a side-street (missing about two inches of pavement), and I hit it pretty hard. I could've gone out a bit in the street to avoid it, but I wasn't sure if any cars were approaching, so I sort of panicked. Today I bought a mirror. :-/

Fortunately my wife was able to pick me up, and I was only half an hour later than planned for work.

This is def. the best I've ever felt going up the hill on the way to work. That's not saying a whole lot considering I've only done it probably 6 or 7 times but it's getting easier!

Had some great cooler days here in Hotlanta, and lower pollution levels, too. Makes for pleasant commuting.

Somehow, the thunderstorms that go with the cooler temps missed me, and all I got were the benefits.

:)

It never gets easier, you just go faster

The commute home was a blast. I ran into my former riding partner Trevbo on elerslie and we raced. I hit and sustained speeds over 50kph trying to chase him down on the flats. He won the race but probably only because he was in his car at the time.

It's amazing how true that is...
I've been taking it easier, though. On some stretches I just won't push myself. Except if Mr Yellow Biker is around to push me faster.

I really need to rebuild my rear wheel before the spokes start snapping

wez312 07-10-08 10:01 PM

I need a Mr Yellow Biker...any volunteers?

jterribili 07-10-08 10:10 PM

humid ride in this afternoon, but good. will be leaving in about 30 minutes or so for home - we'll see if there is rain or not - looks sporadic on the radar. oh yeah...i'm tired

trombone 07-11-08 01:14 AM

Left work an hour early today. Much more pleasant ride home, as I missed the Friday evening rush hour. It also meant it wasn't dark.

I picked up a 1965 Phillips 3-speed a couple of weeks ago for $40. I've been cleaning it slowly, and riding it around town.

I woke up today, felt lucky, and pedaled it 15 miles to the office. What a classy ride

Hopefully the tires hold air and I can enjoy my ride home tonight:lol:

Yesterday, my girlfriend rode her bike to the bus station, bussed and bussed to work. She got out a half hour later than I did, so I waited for her and we commuted home together. It was a nice ride, would have made a larger detour to hit the countryside, but there was a storm incoming and she didn't have bike clothes.

This morning wasn't too bad. Though there was a slight headwind for me on the way to work. Made this more difficult.

My Boss isn't usually here on Fridays. Today he is. :(

Still no bike. #$%^%.

77midget 07-11-08 06:08 AM

dead legs this morning, and back was sore from chiro adjustments last night. Still, made it in within a reasonable time, which I guess means that I am getting better at this.

Though, the hills were mocking me this morning.

tarwheel 07-11-08 06:52 AM

I've been playing "thunderstorm roulette" all week. We've had afternoon storms in the area 6 out of the last 7 days, and most of them have been very violent with high winds, heavy showers, lots of lightning and sometimes hail. Fortunately I have avoided them so far, making it home before they hit. Today the forecast was calling for the dryest weather we've had all week -- and, of course, I got caught in some light showers riding to work. Funny thing is that I checked the radar when I got up, and there were no showers visible at that time, so they just popped up. Hopefully my ride home will be dryer.

jpdesjar 07-11-08 07:17 AM

perfect ride this morning
i ran three miles yesterday after doing my usual ten miles on the bike for the day...enjoyed a pasta dinner which seemed to fuel me up just right for today

:)

i am on vacation next week so i am taking the bike down to VT with me so i can go on some nice rides by the lake...super stoked

have a great week everyone

mjw16 07-11-08 07:24 AM

The end of another "all ride week" for me, my 5th in a row. Legs were a little tired this morning but I'm dealing. Otherwise, the weather looks to be improving so the ride home should be decent-next week looks good too.

I followed then passed one of the tourist trollies yesterday, I hit 30 mph in the process, this was right in front of the Jefferson Memorial. I love passing those trollies, I guess it's a little showing off to all the tourists who sit by open windows just a couple of feet away :-) I then noticed my right hamstring tightened up a little, I spun the rest of the way home. Feels better today.

smartbomb 07-11-08 07:39 AM

Ran over a crack pipe yesterday morning, slow leak flat from that. That sucked.

I guess I was the first on the MUP today, as I was getting spider-webs in the face pretty consistently most of the way.

Itsjustb 07-11-08 07:57 AM

I felt like a p*rn star out there this morning. Just one d*ck after another.

Big Ron 07-11-08 08:20 AM

Sweaty, but swift ride in. I got sprinkled on a bit too despite the "no rain " forecast

pueblonative 07-11-08 08:31 AM

Pretty fair ride today. Nice cool weather, which is why I took my ride before it heats up to three digits here in Pueblo.

Pig_Chaser 07-11-08 08:34 AM

Wow, cold this morning. Single digits i think, i rode in with a light sweater and was still cold.

zpl 07-11-08 08:34 AM

This morning I rode by an enormous heron sitting on a rock in the Lamprey River. It would have made an awesome photograph if I had brought my camera.
