Very nice. 60F or so. Comfortable. Need to crank down the limit screw on the front derailleur though. Threw the chain twice. Fortunately it's easy to get back on. Click to center ring, gently turn pedal. Chain hooks right back up.

Great ride this morning. 67 degrees, dry - later than normal so the sun was up and a clear blue sky.
Would have been a great day to take off. |
Pretty nice ride today. Hit mostly green lights and there weren't as many cars parked on the side as usual, so the door zone wasn't as much of a concern.
Saw a dead crow next to the road the size of a small dog.. also saw a dead dog in the middle of the road half wrapped in plastic which makes me wonder if that was purposely done by some dirtbag. |
made it home last night and beat my morning time by 15 minutes.. i think i figured out the route, but will continue to try other variations to mix things up a bit.

I had a great ride in this morning with a 10 mph tailwind. There were some new faces on the MUP today so that was nice. Going home is going to be tough - 95 or a bit higher with 60 percent humidity and 25-30 mph head wind. I keep wondering if I should be hoping for a t-storm and then call my daughter to come and pick me up.

5 minutes from work, forgot about a small bridge that's been under construction for the last week. Maybe I can sneak across....no, no more bridge. So I decide to start the 30 minute detour until, 2 minutes in I hear a loud pop and whoosh with a nasty mech/metal sound. I'm thinking something is seriously wrong with my rear wheel. No, just a huge screw in my tire.
I had a ton of work to get done this morning so I had to suck it up and call my boss to swing by and pick me up. Oh well. |
I have my bike back. I get to ride home.yiippppee

Had a nice ride in this morning. Cooler weather and less traffic was great. I am taking the long way home, adding about 4 miles to my regular 10 mile trip.

Took my wife's car to the shop to get the A/C checked and recharged. Good lord, I could afford a new set of DA shifters or a decent set of training wheels for what they estimated.
Anyway, one of the car guys noticed my 86 Gazelle and commented that they haven't made any good looking bikes since the 80s. Very nice. Took a longish way back to work. No rush, nice easy spin. If it weren't for the hellish air quality, it would have been perfect. |
Had a nice ride home today. Looking forward to getting a rest day in, though-my legs are a bit tired. It was not too hot today, and humidity was bearable. I did, however, resist the urge to veer into the pub for a tasty beverage.

Lets see, it was hot, strong head wind most of the way home and I got behind a garbage truck that had apperently just stopped at the dirty diaper dump. But, I got to ride home, bike got fixed this afternoon so it was great.

48 miles with 98* Temp on the bike.

A particularly nice ride this morning, with lots of stimulation. Bright, sunny, fairly warm (15 C with a 5 km/h wind) On the first bit I ride past a casino which always seems to be under renovation (additions) and directly across the street a commuter rail station is being built. Busy. Further along, the city is in the first stages of planning to rip up the road for something, maybe the commuter rail, which has been taking shape. Further along the fish plants were quite... ripe this morning, since it is starting to get a little warmer. Made two green lights and had to stop for only one... that was nice, but my country lane was absolutely great. The cranberry fields are still a little bare, but the blueberry fields are looking very lush and should be picked very soon. The ditches were bright green with algae, brighter than the golf course greens. At my wait for the tunnel bike shuttle I could just make out the Coast Mountains through a wee bit of pollution haze. Didn't see any large freighters arriving at the river port -- that would have been great. On the other side, the fields were looking good and the trucks didn't crowd me as I rode into the industrial park.

I left Burlington about 90 minutes later than normal, so I was taking it easy due to all the MUP traffic that's usually nonexistent when I ride. Some young woman on a road bike caught up to me while I was waiting to clear some cyclists and peds. I let her pass me, then I rode with her. She was actually pretty quick compared with what I usually see. 17-18MPH sustained. She tried to sprint a few times but for some reason that didn't make her go faster. She kept looking behind her, I guess to see where I was.
I didn't want to seem like I was stalking her so when we got north of the busy area, I passed and upped the pace to 21-22MPH. Pushing the 45-pound Liquid kinda hard. :) Basically I dropped her though. Oh well. |

The ride home was brutal. Heat index over 100 with sustained headwinds of 30mph. I'm glad I don't have to do this very often because it really takes the fun out of the ride. Still, it only took about 10 minutes longer than normal.

Nice ride in with a few rain showers. Got a small piece of gravel stuck in my tire. Hearing the click, click, click on the pavement alerted me to stop and check. I knocked it off. I had a flat a week ago for ignoring that sound.
|
Just missed a big storm coming through on my way home. And by just missed I mean I had rain drops pelting me in the face like tiny little icicles while the sky was turning a sick green color on the downhill to my house. About 1 minute after I got home it started just pouring. Good time though!

Didn't get to commute to work, had a relative in the hospital. (again.) Managed to get 10 miles in between all my trips back and forth from the hospital. Parked in "employee of the month" parking at the ER (locked my bike to Staff Only parking sign right utside the door since there was no rack.) I rode my bike through a drive-through ATM, that was cool. Not a bad day to be on a bike, which made the rest of the day a bit easier.

One heck of a wind today. Hard and strong and still gusty. The wind was from the west and i was heading north into the city. I literally had to lean into the wind at points. When i hit the city i had to travel east so this brutal strong cross wind turned into a brutal strong tail wind :) I was literally flying down this single lane road doing 50-55kph. this was a construction zone for pretty much the entire length which means, i was actually speeding (50kph limit). Well guess what, every single cager still passed me, i think they calibrate their speed based on the cyclist. ie they have to be ahead of the cyclist regardless of speed/road conditions.

The morning commute was pretty wonderful. Sunny and cool. It was around 90 this afternoon and I got a ride home ::blush::

1005 Miles on an A320 with 155 people sweating all around me.
I miss my Stridle.... We are together again after my reverse 1005 mile A320 commute on Monday. |
I rode into Naha from our my base (Kadena) in Okinawa about 40 miles round trip. The traffic is so bad that I was passing cars. The good thing about Japan is that we get to go to the front of the traffic light.
|
Much-needed commute. It was one of those rides that just makes stress melt away...I got on the bike, found a good cadence, put my legs on autopilot, and spent a peaceful 20 minutes watching the sunrise and all the cute little songbirds on the path. I love nature!
