New seatpost, moved me forward an inch or so from where I was. Feel the power! At least, I felt like it. I actually rode in really slowly w/ my wife after dropping the 7 yr old for his 1st day of 2nd grade.

I just recently started commuting and today I pushed back my starting spot to 3 miles one way. Had to pass under a freeway and almost got side swiped by a driver who was really excited to get on the highway.

Other than that, the ride was really nice. The weather was pretty cool for Tucson, I love starting out my day in the saddle. Unfortunately is won't be so cool when I go home this afternoon. The high is supposed to be around 97. That is what showers are for I suppose.

Left one hour eailer today, very nice ride, at 0500 there is almost no traffic. this afternoon is gonna be a hot one

oakback 09-03-08 12:51 PM

Holy crap it was almost *cool* outside today! That gets me excited. If this area wasn't so damned beautiful, the heat is enough to make me want to move sometimes.

It's only my second day, which I know is usually the most painful in any type of daily workout. I figured if I can make it today, I'm good to go for the long haul. So far so good.

Metricoclock 09-03-08 03:05 PM

on the way in it wasn't to bad, nice sunny, moderate temp, but my messenger bag was a lil heavy and my shoulder was feeling it.

On the way back (which i'm glad i left early, albeit 91F) i saw a un forecasted weather front moving in. So along with the weight of my bag previously i also had another large text book i just purchased today added into the weight of my bag. Well about have way through my commute is started to get rained on (which was fine) but then huge head winds and my left shoulder going numb from the weight of my bag. Which was great. Can't wait to get some nice panniers and a rack to get that weight off my body and also still be able to carry what i would like to school.

17mile round trip today with 30lbs on my back.

Yep, it was hot. But still a very nice ride.

The ride home was pleasant. A cool breeze and cloudy skies. Traffic was heavy but I'm kinda proud of the drivers in my part of town. At the worse, they ignore me but are never hostile. Got home in good time. Now if I could just remember what it is I had to do! Stopped for a sandwich, picked up the new cellphone, la-de-da-da-da....:)

18 mph headwind was brutal on the Lakefront path but once out of the exposed zone it was managable. Threatened to rain the whole time but never did.

Back in Boston for Newton to Beantown commute.

Bike pathed in with my wife in the am and got to use the new Comm Ave bike lane on the way home.

They're making some nice improvements to the Charles River path (on the Boston side) and I liked the bike lane on Comm. but I do wish people wouldn't park and stop in it!

Great weather.

starla 09-03-08 05:38 PM

Nothing like a 19mph NW wind on your NW ride home. ;)

robinthehippie 09-03-08 08:55 PM

Pretty chill ride in. Then I had a bad day, lots of things to get my adrenaline going and nowhere to let it out, resulting in stupid mistakes and all the related frustration. I decided rather than go to the bar with my work friends I'd ride intervals on the way home. Now I'm eating and stretching, I was still sort of tense when I got home.

-I tripped a speed sign at 27 mph climbing (I ride a LHT with almost full panniers), I was pretty proud of myself.
-At one point the sky was literally glowing to the east, I think the sun was reflecting off the clouds.
-Lots of other cyclists out, and lots of them said hi to me.
-My bad day wasn't cancelled by the ride, but I feel a lot better.

girljen 09-03-08 09:03 PM

I thought I had class tonight, but it got canceled. I thought about taking the long way home, since nobody at home knew that I was going to be home early. But about halfway home, I realized how much I wanted to play with my daughter...so I dropped the hammer (again) and sprinted home! Whee! It was fun. Now my legs hurt and I stink.

Mattrek 09-04-08 01:56 AM

Kinda cold today, and my lungs suffered, but other than that, easy ride, not much wind. Gashed my leg somehow on the ride though. I have no idea how I did it and I didn't realize that it happened until I got home and propped my leg up on the coffee table. Wierd, no pain whatsoever.

Beautiful ride into work today! Mid-60's and light wind. I thought back to the Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom television show from the 1960's as I had an encounter with a herd (?) of 5 deer and a skunk that waddled across the road. The deer are just brazen. Can't wait for tomorrow's morning ride.

Big Ron 09-04-08 05:17 AM

Uneventful rides home yesterday, and in again this AM. Humidity is rising, but still not too bad. Wondering if I should ride in tomorrow and risk getting dumped on from TS Hanna - hopefully the weatherman will give a detailed forecast tonight on when the rains and winds will begin.

cg1985 09-04-08 06:02 AM

Last night a storm was brewing right behind me on the way home. Managed to walk inside before the rain started.

This morning was a great commute. It was cloudy, but cool. The traffic was light.

making 09-04-08 06:18 AM

Very nice ride in this morning. About 6miles into my ride someone was cooking Bacon and Eggs. Smelled so good. I might run up to the cafeteria.

vtjim 09-04-08 06:37 AM

What's the deal with all-red text around some avatars now?

Nice commute today. Headwind but I shoved through it. Mid 60sF.

And I broke a spoke yesterday. 6 week old rear wheel. I was doing a climb on grass. Sort of steep but I was in the granny gear and turning effortlessly. Not out of the saddle or anything powerful. I heard it pop. It broke right at the hub. The wheel only had a slight wobble so it was rideable. I'll take it to the LBS this morning. Hopefully this won't be a chronic problem.

making 09-04-08 06:39 AM

I think we got upgraded.

starla 09-04-08 06:48 AM

Mid 60s and wonderful! At least 10 degrees cooler than it's been lately. Can't believe I was actually cold at first. I'm so glad summer is ending...slowly...but better than nothing.

elTwitcho 09-04-08 06:55 AM

I came within a split second of getting doored in the face by a dumptruck on the way in this morning. The door flew open right in front of me and I had to duck and swerve not to catch it with my forehead. I don't usually yell anything when riding but I let out a "DUDE!!! ****!!!!", he seemed contrite and yelled back "****!!! Sorry"

And we went on our seperate ways. Sucked but I'm still here

dcrowell 09-04-08 07:11 AM

I wimped out today and drove. I will hate myself all day for not riding when I had already planned to.

The drive was uneventful, but I was extremely sleepy. I never have that problem on the bike.

JR97 09-04-08 08:03 AM

sh*tty. no energy. I think my thyroid is finally dead. Luckily, I see the Dr. Monday and hopefully will start up the pills soon.

DataJunkie 09-04-08 08:04 AM

I had a long day yesterday and a poor nights sleep. This mornings ride was sllllllooooooooowwwwwww.
ugh
As a plus I hit a new low in my weight loss. Of course any new weight loss is a new low since I dropped below my lowest weight since my early 20s a few weeks ago. 6 lbs to go and the goal I set 4 years ago will have been reached.

Tsuru 09-04-08 08:07 AM

Lovely commute in... felt great, good time, good speed, went the long way........ :D
