So far so good. Nice Monday morning ride.

Nice ride, 60F. T-storms yesterday broke the ~100F heat/haze(smog), rain last night sapped some of the humidity that took its place...

Got an email from an out-of-town biker over the weekend who was visiting Raleigh and looking for rides. So I invited him to join me on my morning commute today. My legs were fried after riding a century (101 miles) on Sunday, so we had a leisurely ride at recovery pace. We rode all the way downtown and I showed him all of Raleigh's "tourist attractions" -- the state capitol, governor's mansion, the giant acorn, and Krispy Kreme donuts. So, I ended up with a 20-mile morning commuter, double my usual distance. Nice way to start the commute week, although I'll have to work later than usual to make up for the late start.

A little cooler this morning - getting some delta breeze, I could actually see some fog off to the west. Made for a nice ride, and should be cooler going back up the hill this afternoon.

School must be back in for the rugrats... I pass by a couple of elementary schools and there were kids, parents, and cars all over. The traffic was bad enuf that my ride took about 10mins longer than usual. I'll have to try and get started a little earlier!

I'll only be able to ride 3 days this week! :-(

Beautiful ride in this morning, the students won't be back to campus until Thursday so it was a peaceful ride!

Very slow. A bit sore from a fall on Sunday.

First Car commute for me in a month. My girlfriend broke her wrist yesterday, had to driver her to see the orthopedic Dr. So I went in late with a car. :-(

Today was the first commute on the new commuter rig. It was a beautiful cool morning with higher humidity then we normally have. A welcome change.

Had an RTD bus rip past me only to pull over to pickup passengers not more than 5 car lengths past me. I had to do a little evasive maneuvering to keep from running into the back of the bus. JERK!

Missed the ride today. Tweaked my back yesterday while trying to follow my husband on his bike (he tends to not tell me where we're going and so I'm in high gear trying to get up a steep hill bleh). Thought I'd be able to go in on Wednesday, but I have an afternoon appt. Not sure if I'll have the energy on a Friday!

Zin - Sweet ride! I'm starting to learn that Trek bikes are popular. What made you decide on the Trek brand and this particular model?

Rumrunn, I've had my Trek 5200 road bike for years and it fits so well. So, I chose Trek because the fit works well for me. I chose this model because it is snappier road geometry. Disk brakes for all season commuting. Mounting points for the rear rack. It is also light. (comparatively speaking)

I commute 30 miles 3 days/week and 50 miles the other 2 days. So, this bike is fast and responsive even when loaded with all the crap I have to carry for work.

I had a good ride home. Pretty gnarly tailwind had me loping along over 20MPH for a while, not even breathing hard. I love that. Once on the MUP it was sheltered so I dropped a few MPH. I came up behind a dude on an MTB. He was wearing flip-flops on platform pedals, moving around 14MPH. We came to a stop sign and slowed down so I dropped into my middle ring. He heard that, and suddenly his cruising speed went to 17MPH. He was my rabbit for about 4 miles. He was busting stop signs and I wasn't, so I got to catch up 2 or 3 more times before he turned around.

I left at 1:30 pm to get back to my car. Today was kindergarten orientation for my son. My goodness where did the time go? That and why am I so dang nervous? He does not care either way.

Anyways.... it was weird to be riding home that early. 70F and almost a perfect commute. These off timed commutes are usually the ones I remember the next year. Last year was me working 7-7 and riding home when the sun was setting through parks filled with kids playing and the odd atmosphere my exhaustion created. The bad part was a closed part of a trail with trees everywhere with an inadequate light that I became completely spooked for no good reason and sprinted for a couple of miles.

Fine ride, nice almost full moon helping to light my way, high humidity, but lower than usual for August. A female coworker rode in as well and was coming up the road some distance behind me. She asked later if I was the one flashing her....Yes, it was me. She was flashing me as she asked too :-)

Morning commute was nice today. No rain but it was pretty dreary out. About 55F. Good tail wind. I saw only a handful of peds and no cyclists.

I wish a couple of my female co-workers would flash me.

Ride in today was nice. First ride with the new messenger bag. Felt great. Warm morning though.

Eeriely foggy and a bit warm, but nice to ride again.

Afternoon ride into work I think I only had four cars pass me. My night ride home was very nice with full moon up in the sky and only two cars passing me...

Congratulations! How did it go?

My ride home was...late. And cold. And it took too damn long. But I would have said all of those things for my seven-minute drive, too...I really just wanted to be at home and be asleep. The good news is that I got to see fireworks! The city of Wheat Ridge had their little town celebration on Saturday, fireworks got rained out, so they did them last night. It was awesome!

The ride in was pretty cool. I met a friendly motorcyclist, we said 'good morning' at the light. And then a pedestrian hit the pedestrian button to trip the light for me before he jaywalked. I like people!

need to leave a little earlier so i can avoid the bothersome city busses...we always end up playing the passing game

Traffic was stupid this morning. I could've gone faster on the sidewalk if I wasn't blocked in by so many cars.
