Unfortunately, my commute cycle (3 days bike, 2 days bus) was interrupted by some bowel issues. I'll be back it tomorrow.:)

Rode to work and back for a three-hour class.

I stopped at Target on the way in and added an extra mile (and an extra hill!) to the route. I had a headwind, which irritated me, but it wasn't a bad ride.

The ride home was fun. No wind at all. The sky was gorgeous, the moon was lighting up the clouds. The weather was nice. I took it slow and easy, just so I could stay outside for longer.

Put the bike in the shed last night at 8:30pm pulled it out at 4:30am this morning. Hate that. Good ride though. Weathers been unbeliveable lately.

Well, I was wrong about yesterday, today promises to be at least as nice. Might sneak out of work early if my adult supervision aint watching. Wonderful ride in this AM. A bit cool for the first couple of miles. Dont know how it could be any nicer. And since I bought my new wheel the old one has not had a single problem. Might have to build a bike around the new wheel. I am glad my wife dont read this fourm....I dont think.

Cold Ride this morning
 

Left the house at 6:25 and it was 38 deg F!

4.5 miles down the road at the plant, it was 43, granted that is on the lake as well.

Still cold. Wore my tights, longsleeve jersey and gloves! thinking I need to start layering and put on the skull cap (ears still hurt)

The browning corn stalks became visible as dawn broke over the fields. Their autum has arrived, as has mine with my thinning and greying hair. I am comforted by the sound of my tires rolling on the road.

Ugh. I drove today. First time since March(!), and that was because I got snipped!

Coldest day of the season so far, too. Clear blue sky. Low 40s. Would have made for an excellent ride. I'm leaving work and driving directly to the airport for my biennial flight review. Not enough time to use the bike. Gets dark too early now. :(

What a ride! It was nice and cool and I was hitting all the green lights! I shaved almost 15 minutes off my commute by hitting the freaking lights. Now if I can do the same going home that would be really sweet as the ride home is more down hill.

Nice ride in this morning, temps were in the low 70's, but had low energy (didn't eat enough yesterday). However, I'm more excited about how things worked out on yesterday's ride home. Our son started daycare which prompted a slight change in my commute, one that's very dependant on timing and coordination. My wife drops him off in the morning, then returns to park the car near the metro. She then takes the metro to work and calls to tell me where the car is. I continue the moring part of my commute unchanged, however, ride directly to the car in the afternoons, not home. I put the bike on the rack, change (throw shorts over top of my riding shorts, shirt, shoes) and jump in the car for the 20 minute drive to the sitter. I pick him up, return home, throw my bike in the back yard, and take care of our son until my wife gets home roughly an hour later. Then, I can go cover the bike, top off tire pressure, charge battery, regular maintenance etc. I was excited that it worked so well on our first attempt, without a "dry run" even. The only improvements to make are: 1) leave gatorade, water, or other recovery drink in car, and 2) find a better way of securing front tire while bike is on the rack (I got a bunch of velcro strips from work and cut them into usable lengths). It looks like this will be a sustainable system where I can continue my daily commuting. Anyone else doing something similar? Recommendations for improvement???

A little chilly, so I took it a little slower so I can haul some ass again on the way home! Not too bad a ride, my left leg's a little tired lately, wtf?

Ride seemed harder today. Also. It's been a month or so since I got my new shifters on, and I think the cable has stretched enough to warrant an Adjustment.

Time to stop at the bike shop after work.

Another question that could really have gotten me agitated if I wasn't so understanding.

Lady: "How long it take to ride one hour or one and a half?"
Me: "Closer to one and a half in the morning"
Lady: "Too long" at this point she opens the door

Chilly! About 47F when I left the house, and my hands/arms were cold from bombing down the big hill I live at the top of. I also felt a little weak today. Hoping the ride home is manageable.

On the bright side: I didn't have to shower when I got to work! Also on the bright side: good rock climbing weather!

yes it was a bit cool this morning and my hands were cold when i arrived at work but it was so dang invigorating...i love the cripsness of fall

Wet and warm ride in after a wet and warm ride home last night.

But...A wet ride on the bike is better than a dry ride in a car!

Woke up earlier than usual and headed into work earlier than usual. Got hit by a car which was unusual. I'm never going to work early again. Bike's fine and my arm's got a little scrape, but otherwise I'm fine.

Nice ride in. Some of the construction that's been driving me nuts and forcing me onton routes i'd rather not take is clearing up. I now have allot of options.

According to the chauffeur, I swerved into him. According to me, I swerved into a car that was in my lane. My lane was the bus lane and he shouldn't have been in there in the first place, especially if he was sucking my wheel. I reminded him of all this and that if I had been in a car, he'd be at fault since he was behind me, tailgating and he rear ended me. Since I'm on a bike, the same rules still apply and he'd still be at fault. I should've gotten his insurance info though so I'm kicking myself about that.

Crisp and clear this morning. At the bottom of the big hill, I was in a full tuck trying to make the light. I was 3 car lengths from the intersection, when a 5-series pulled out of the left lane into the right in the middle of the intersection. I braked a little to start with, as I figured the car would keep goiing ahead down the road, but no. The idiot blocked my whole lane so they could make a right turn, then stopped for a pedestrian. I locked up both brakes for a good 5 feet before I could deke around the back of the car. I'm going to start riding with my light on in the morning. This is getting stupid.

Took a slightly different route this morning. I'm trying to scout a mellow route through Midtown so I can ride with my kids to their daycare a couple of times a week during the fall. I think I may have an idea on the route, but I noticed there's no place to lock up a bike at the daycare. I'll have to have a word with the president of the board, who just happens to be Mrs. Caloso.

It's nice to know people in high places.

If you don't live in NYC, you probably don't know that this is what the same intersection looked like 7 years ago, minus any but emergency vehicles, plus a lot of smoke where two buildings were missing right there in that skyline.

Good ride for me this morning, my second day of bike commuting. My first day was last Thursday. I was a little bit more comfortable, but still very alert. I also shaved 5 minutes off of my time from last week, but that doesn't really matter to me since I'm not racing.

Keith: Thanks for posting that picture. I worked on the 95th of 2WTC. Very sad feelings today.
