A beautiful day in the River City. 47F and blue skies on the way to the office this morning. Should be in the 70s on the way home.

After the cherry blossoms hit full bloom this week, all the petals are falling off. The wind picked up a bit coming home on Custis (for those of you in the DC area) and it looked like it was snowing. Fantastic ride, and I just barely beat the rain home.

I woke up to snow on the ground.

a fairly pleasant ride in this morning but overcast and windy- wind in my face.

And I was beat from a long road ride yesterday.

The ride home was intense- RAIN! And I mean HEAVY RAIN! Rode the bike path home and hit some 10" deep puddles. Fortunately, I know the path well enough to know where to aim in the puddles and I was in my full rain gear (including shoe covers and goretex mitts).

Managed to get home not exactly dry as a bone but not completely a wet noodle.

29 stinking degrees! I thought Winter was over in Ohio.
I'm sure there are colder places this morning but I've already been out riding in shorts for the last 2 weeks. Physically I can handle the cold fine. Mentally, I am really sick of Winter.

I missed the rain coming and going yesterday, and I may have missed the worst of the wind today--though it was still blowing 20+mph in my face. And at 37F/3C, I was certainly glad I pulled on the helmet liner at the last minute.

High 30s maybe even 40. Wet roads due to rain all day yesterday. I dislike having to spit on my water bottle before sipping, especially when I forget, and then get some grit in my mouth.

I rode the modified MTB and used the vertical bar ends more than before. They're pretty comfy sometimes and I like using them when I stand. The drop-style bar ends are also still great. I can't imagine spending too much time on a bike with just straight bars.

The geometry, gearing & wheel diameter on this bike are perfect for that nasty stretch of Route 20 with little shoulder, and what is there is all beat up. This bike just ate that shoulder up for breakfast. HooAhh!

I think my son is sneaking my protein powder but I had just enough to make a short protein/juice recovery shake for my arrival at work. Need to go grocery shopping - scrounging for food ... At least I had a great 2 eggs sandwich on toast, plus a slice of left over peperoni pizza before my ride. I guess I'll live ...

Rode into a headwind both ways yesterday, coming and going. However, I considered myself fortunate because I just missed a line of severe thunderstorms that rolled through our area all morning. This morning's ride was a piece of cake.

Light rain. Upper 30sF. Calm wind. Not too bad.

Chance of snow tonight. I don't think it'll stick, or freeze up, but we'll see.

I was pushing my bike into an elevator at the train station, and a woman looked at my folding bike and said "I've got one of those." She owns an older Dahon model. We chatted about folding bikes on the way to the train.

Oh man... first ride in just over a week. It was awesome. I woke up early this morning and hummed and hawed whether to fix up the mountain bike (winter commuter) or to get the road bike (summer commuter) on the road. I opted for the later and have no regrets. I forgot what slicks and gears and speed was like.

A beautiful morning... A little head breeze, some Mastodon. No complaints here. Spring might really be here this time. Last night I rode home into about a 20mph headwind on my fixed gear. Damn, I kind of like gears sometimes.

Not really a commute since I'm on vacation. I rode around the neighborhood and visited a couple of parks. Not to many walkers so I was able to get some good climbs in. Stopped at the donut shop and picked up some pasteries and went back home. I was riding my vintage Columbia Tourist V, nice little 5 speed cruiser. Pleasant ride.

I hadn't ridden into work in about three weeks. Full of stupid excuses, and just about every day, while at work, I said, gee, I could have ridden in.

So I managed to ride in today. I didn't move fast, but I got here, and I'm not tired. It's unseasonably cold and windy today, 42F, with a wind chill factor of 34F. My commute is uphill all the way, 10 miles, and it was upwind, too.

34F = 1C
10 miles = 16km

wussed out. heavy snow, low vis.

Fought a strong (forecast said 20-30 mph) headwind most of the way in today and it was chilly. Nothing else to report.

not nearly as warm this morning, but the afternoon will be gloriously sunny. Looking forward to it!

Cold, 40 something degrees. What happened to Spring? I had to wear my long pants and jacket today, sheesh. Relatively slow and lethargic today, probably from all the recent work on the house. I'm psyched for this weekend, should be good weather to get some dirt on my new 29er.

Pretty good ride in today, but I encountered something pretty perplexing. I'm going 30-ish downhill and enter an intersection. (I have the green.) A car in the cross traffic to my right pulls up to his red to make a right and starts creeping up as though he's going to execute his right-hand turn into me.

You might ask, didn't he see you? The answer is, it's tough to tell because the stupid sack of sh1t JAM had one of those window shades that suction cup to your window stuck to the driver's window. He couldn't see anything. WTF???

He did, however, hear me yelling, which brought the creeping out into my lane to a halt.

Dang, I'm at work and it's after 9pm, and I really should have left a long time ago. Here I go...

eh,,, back to snow and high winds but the good thing is that "final four" stuff is over and I can have my town back!

Rained both ways. I need some covers for my shoes. I was really tired after my unit's 3 mile run.

bike path ride in and out today. Still recovering from Sunday's long ride. A bit windy but much better today. A couple of whacko drivers today though. One when I was going through an intersection (I had the green light) I see another car going in the opposite direction that wants to turn left across me. He sees me coming makes eye contact and then leans heavy on the horn and aims, I'm not kidding, aims his car right at me. I mean he timed it in such a way that he'd just miss my rear wheel but- wow! Crazy!- and this guy looked insane.

A couple of other oddly aggressive drivers on the way home- seemed inebriated. Must be the moon.

You weren't the guy who said Boston drivers are no worse than others, were you?
