I rode home in a 20 mph head wind. Add to that some wacko who thought it was a good idea to come within 10 inches of my bars and lay on his horn. It wasn't a fun ride home.
extraordinarily warm weather today.
rode in on the bike path this morning. rode home on the path but had a disturbing ride home when there was a serious accident on Storrow Drive, which runs alongside the bike path. I arrived very shortly after the accident and along with several passersby did my best to assist. I had a reflective t-shirt, which I quickly donned and got out to direct traffic and keep things moving so that emergency vehicles could get to the victims. There were 3 men, one of whom was very seriously injured and spread out across the front seat unconscious, the other two were out of the vehicle and semi-conscious and bleeding and vomiting. Unfortunately, there was a small boy in the car as well. He was in the best shape but, naturally, in tears and very upset.
Man, cars are freaky and dangerous. It's amazing how instantly they can turn into flying weaponry.

Yesterday's ride home was fantastic. High 80s at the airport but down close to the lake there was a delightful cool breeze wafting off Lake Champlain and keeping the temperature in the low 70s. When I got home I sat outside and drank Staropramen and Dogfish Head 120-Minute.

This morning's ride was nice too. 60F and no wind. I reeled in a couple, passed them, then spotted a guy on an MTB and tried to reel him in. I wasn't having much luck with that, and then he stopped pedaling. I thought, "Heh. He blew up. Now I'll get 'im." But I wasn't reeling him in very fast even when he wasn't pedaling. I stepped it up to 20MPH and finally caught him. The cheating $(@!*# had a motor!
It was loud, too. Electric, but really whiny.

Wet and cold but I had a nice 20 mpg tailwind and used my 42x11 gear for a non-trivial length of time. Pretty soon I'll have to use that big ring thing

I swear someone crushed an entire case of beer bottles and scattered the glass along the shoulder of the road over the weekend. I am about ready to do a testamonial about Schwalbe Marathons with a picture of my still inflated tire and the glass on the road...
The other commuter at my building's bike showed up on the rack yesterday. I still don't know who it is, but 2 people commuting out of 300 is better than just me, right?

Sweaty one today..
The temp is supposed to reach 90 degrees in Boston today, so I thought it would be a great opportunity for my first ride of the season. I had been hesitant because of the streets I have to ride on for about 70% of my commute.... but I sucked it up and took the plunge. Beautiful morning!

I dang near rode today cause it was cloudy and wet but temp was very nice. I drove the jeep because thunderstorms were predicted, by the time I got to work there was driving rain, high wind and storms. The weather guy got one right, finally.

I wanted to ride to work in the rain today but... I ran out of gas. I, I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts. IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD.
But really, I have a dentist appointment at 11:30 and getting downtown in time would have been tight.
Tomorrow.

Of course as it turned out it was just parked car, and no one was seriously injured. But still, it made me re-evaluate how I handle that intersection.
But then again, I don't know if you can prepare yourself for run away trucks with drivers asleep at the wheel, or whatever it was that happened to the driver of that truck.

Absolutely beautiful weather in NC lately, the kind you wait all year for. Temperatures are a bit warm in the afternoons, but the humidity has been low so it doesn't feel uncomfortable. Commuting has been a joy.
Kind of cool this morning. Rode my Diamondback Edgewood hybrid today. Nice quiet ride in with no problems.

72F and sunny. Really nice ride today. There were a lot of other bike commuters this morning -- I guess I'm not the only fair-weather commuter.

Didn't you have another incident recently on this same path? Something about a possibly-suicidal man?

I'm happy to report that all my commutes lately have been uneventful.
Another chilly ride in. I'm seriously done with this 15C below seasonal weather. (the ride was still awesome though).
I'm not the only cyclist at work anymore, there's 2 of us now (that's a 100% increase in bicyclists!).

First day of cycle commuting... nervous nellie forgot to pack his shoes. Spent day in Dockers, shirt, tie and MTB shoes. Sidi fashion statement. Won't be doing that twice!!!
Excellent. Found out that the local Transport Management Organisation (TMO) which iwas set up to encourage intelligent commuting had arranged for some free bike fixing/ checking at the Marriott car park so I went there instead of work at 0800. Nice lady gave me a lift to the office from there.
Mech guy called at 1100 to say my bike is fine and come and get it. "It's old but you've looked after it, right?". Yip. Saved me £30. Happy days.

I beat the rain in, and the temp was very pleasant, around 60 f ( 15 c). Going home will probably be in rain, but I am still on a high from having consistent days of warm weather, so no problem. They took thunderstorms out of the forecast, and that is good. All the drivers behaved themselves, so no issues
there, either.

Another warm, clear morning in NC. I'm continuing to wear my arm and leg warmers and vest, despite temperatures in the low 60s in mornings. Just can't quite get used to riding bare armed and legged yet. My vest is high-viz yellow, so I wear it more for safety but pretty soon it will be too warm for it even in morning. Rode the single-speed this morning and can't believe how much faster I commute on it. It's at least 5 lbs. lighter than the touring bike I normally commute on, plus I'm forced to keep my speed up on the hills rather than gearing down. It's a nice change of pace.

40F with a light tailwind. Not many people out this morning. I saw bmike again, riding the other way.
Got dropped by a big pileated woodpecker.
There was much shattered glass on the MUP in one place this morning.
I saw it and went around it, and then warned two couples who were walking dogs.

rain on the way home yesterday.
I still wonder when my co-workers will stop offering me rides when it is raining.
