Clear, cold day with slight head wind. I left the house with my lobster gloves, shoe covers and a wind proof jacket, at the beginning of my ride I was thinking a cap wouldn't have hurt but after I warmed up I was ok. raffic was light and everyone gave me more than enough room for a change. I took the long way into work, total milage 22.4 miles at a screamming average speed of 15.2 miles per hour. It's forcasted as a nice clear cool day so we should have a great ride home this afternoon

What next, I wonder?
Right. A slow-leaking flat, which I noticed on Monday after work. I was able to ride home, although I had to pump after every 6 kms or so. LBS was closed already, so I went home, took the rear wheel inside, patched the puncture, put the tyre back on rim and inflated. Seemed to hold ok.

Had an uneasy feeling about it, though, so I did not put it back on the bike yet. Next morning (today, actually) I checked the tyre: empty. I bit the bullet and took the bus to work. I visited a bike shop during lunch and bought two spare tyres, paying roughly 25% more than I would have at the LBS.

Please note, I am not going to ask "what next" this time.

Beautiful commute in. Fixed the flat on my road bike soon after I got out of bed so I didn't have to pull out my spare bike again (the hybrid that makes me feel like I'm riding a tall padded bar stool with semi tires, dragging a parachute). Traffic was a bit heavy on Memorial Drive, and as usual, a few motorists passed too closely near the Oakland Cemetery wall, but all in all it was nice, cool, and uneventful.

well its only fitting that in the year that brought us 28 inches of snow and 50 inches of rain (with three months left to go) that I would have to wear tights and a long sleeved top before Oct 1 - today was sunny, but cool - as I rode in I passed a massive back up on Rock Creek Park and then passed the reason - a taxi which had lost control and plunged into the creek - scary stuff

I then got a slow puntcure on my normally reliable front wheel but managed to pump it up enough to make it into work - I'll change it before I go home

Goldilocks weather here: not too hot, not too cold. Absolutely perfect. And since we're now in casual dress around here during the recess, I don't have to worry about flapping ties and such. These are the golden days.

I've been doing a lot of around town commuting over the weekend. Today's ride in was pretty danged chilly. Two layers and my "winter" jacket, which is actually only slightly heavier than the summer jacket.

Road into work a tad late today, 55F...cooler on the way home. No more shorts until next spring...getting too cold on the commute home.

Just getting ready to head out. 40 F, no wind and the sun is creeping up over the horizon. I get to put in some extra miles today, as lots of errands to run and then a meeting at City Hall after work. Hopefully my lights will perform well.

A cool 38 degees this morning, I could hear the coy dogs yelping in the woods as I rode up my street. My dress was just right for the temps, traffic was light and it was really, really dark all the way in to work.

Mild but dull. Ran with blinkies on but really need to fit my rechargeable main lamp this weekend.

Shorts this morning so it's not that cold

A good ride today. Temperature was about 50 F / 10 C which was ideal for cycling in shirtsleeves. I really enjoy the feel of the cool air.

This and Spring are the times of the year when I am fastest -- no overheating.

Good ride in today. The forecasts are threatening rain, but I've yet to see any.

Cheers,

Ed

Legs felt frisky this morning, making me wish I'd left early enough for a little detour. Maybe tonight.

We actually got a little bit of drizzle this morning. Not quite the torrential rain I was hoping for, but at least it's a break from that relentless sunshine.

Friday night's commute home featured an awesome "triple rainbow" against deep storm clouds. Even the motorists slowed to look at it. I also had a homeowner on my route stop me to ask where I rode from. They had figured out that I was commuting because they saw me at pretty much the same times every day. His son did the Pan Mass Challenge on a fixie! Now that is crazy.

First ride with the long sleeve shirt, hat under the helmet and the nylon overpants. I shouldnt have bothered with the hat. Temp was 8C/47F and not quite light when I left home, but sun came up to a clear sky early in the ride. I think the temp will be about 12C/55F for the ride home.

First commute in a while and I'm glad to be back on the bike. While I am trying for year round commuting, I have found the weeks in a row of working 12 hour days are not conducive to riding

But anyway today was nice, crisp with high clouds and a bit of sun poking though. Still able to wear shorts but I had a light sweater on. A lot of walkers on the trail, but this seems to be a kind of once a week thing with a nearby retirement community. A bit of a headwind and the weekend tiredness made for a sluggish ride but I enjoyed it.

Bikes: Mercier Corvus (commuter), Fila Taos (MTB), Trek 660(Got frame for free and put my LeMans Centurian components on it)

Good ride back to work after a week of training (rode the thirty miles to the training twice last week!). Local high school told me not to ride across their campus anymore. I have been doing it for a year and was kind of surprised they let me do it this long. Anyway, another day another route!

Hopefully my last week of commuting on my bent. It was a mere 34F when I headed out this morning. I over dressed as despite this being my fourth winter, I need a few weeks before I will be back into the swing of dressing for winter commuting.

I hope to be in my velomobile (Mango) from the middle of next week onward.

Oh the irony! Light rain this morning, I am the only one at work who actually rode in today (like I am everyday), and I was the only one not complaining about the rain. Bring it on!

Okay Chris, I had a chance of rain on my ride today, does that count? otherwise all around good day, sunshine, partly cloudy high eighties for the temp. No rain though, That's okay , I'm sure i'll get my fair share before it's all over.
