Misty day. The ride this morning in shorts was OK, but it was a lot cooler in the afternoon. Joy is finding a pair of knee warmers tucked at the very bottom of the rack trunk. I was warm enough that I could go down the steep side of MooseHill (coasting I hit 37mph/59kmph) to turn around and climb it again. That way I get to climb all 3 sides with roads.

Windy ride home again last night! This time it was a headwind all the way (well almost all the way but it felt like it).

the ride in this morning was cooler, about 41F. Nice ride, feeling pretty good. Tomorrow is supposed to be real cool down to 33F. Brrrrrr!

Coating of snow on roofs and cars today. Gentle flakes falling. 30f.

Foggy and misty and chilly ride in from home today. I must have "hit" half of the 60+ stop lights on the way in. Maddening.

Big snow flakes today here in Maine. Very pretty, but does not allow the cars to see you as well.

The other day I rode from the office to the gym after work. I stopped to lend a guy my pump and help him replace his tube. I thought the good bike karma would protect me for awhile but I got a flat the very next day. D'oh!

First snowfall, but temps were right at freezing so it didn't accumulate on the roads. Still messes with visibility, and definately gave me warning that winter is coming.

I wore my new lake mxz300 shoes this morning, comfy but not as warm as the ads say, I wasn't cold but there were no sweaty toes either. We'll see what the real cold weather does to them. 31 degrees this morning, I dressed for the forcasted mid 20's. the gore-tex jacket was fine, I didn't over heat, the wind front tights were a bit over done but once I left the house I was committed. I find it hard to dress in the fall and spring, it's cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon for the ride home, I just carry a lot of clothes.

Brrrrr! Cool ride in this morning. Got down to 30F. Lately I have been feeling sluggish and slow on my rides. I feel like a dope now that I know why.... my tires were not inflated all the way! I feel like an idiot. Anyway, nice refreshing ride in. Hopefully the ride home is nice too.

Noticed bridges and some streets salted this morning. Passed a car wash and there was an icy glaze over the pavement.

Todays commute was great... 80kph tailwind the whole way. At times it was pointless to pedal in top gear! The ride home could be brutal though!

Good commute, sunny, with moderate temperatures. Explored an alternate route, and I think I may have bypassed a traffic bottleneck. For those who know Atlanta I usually take Memorial
Drive between the Glenwood/Memorial connector and Oakland Avenue. This morning I followed Glenwood west to Boulevard from East Atlanta, turned
north over the I-20 bridge, and west on Woodward Avenue to Grant. When Memorial drive is clear I can travel much faster than I can on Woodward, but traffic has been backed up on Memorial lately, and the lanes are too narrow for me to easily filter through, so I wind up queued up as badly as the cars. If I could figure out a means of predicting the traffic volume on Memorial Drive on any given morning, I'd be all set now :-)

Yesterday's ride to work occured at 1:00pm so the ride in was warm and in the low 80's. Traffic at this time of day isn't too bad either, allthough not as nice as the deserted streets at 5:00am. My ventral hernia was acting stupid so my Beautiful Bride came to my rescue with the car and bike rack at 10:00pm. Surgury is scheduled for the 30th so I may be off the wonderbike for a little while. I got my top speed up to 25.2mph with the avg. about 15.1 mph. Made it to work in a record 23 minutes! Cool

winter arrived in DC yesterday so I had to dig out my assorted cold weather accoutrements - nice weather still though - its hardly rained at all this month in DC

Last night's ride home: uneventful.

Today's ride in from Willow Glen: uneventful.

Uneventful is good.

Hit the majority of green lights on the way in. Always a good way to start the day.

Nailed the dressing for today. Riding in the morning at 30F/-1C: Coolmax Tee, men's dress Merino wool V-neck, Jackson-Gibbens rain jacket with the pit zips open. Giordano coolmax shorts and old Nashbar tights on the bottom. PI amfib lobster gloves with Outlast liners. Just a tad warm after the first mile. Coming home at 38F/3C, I put the sweater & glove liners in the trunk and closed the pit zips on the jacket. I was cooler than in the morning, but still comfortable. The trip home started in daylight, ended in darkness, so it was good deer sighting timing, one group of 5, another of 3, and a solitary.

I rode my bike downtown to jury duty yesterday (27 miles but what a blast it was!), waiting to get selected I noticed my helmets plastic layer was yellowing and rotting (it was only a year old too!) so I got a new helmet on my way home! Funny thing, the only bike racks were in the parking garage for the jail! New helmet was much cooler on my ride in this morning. Mornings are actually comfortable riding these days. Gotta love it when summer finally ends in the desert!

So...did you get selected? I came up for it this past fall, but was able to get an exemption from the judge because I'm a full time student.

I have been unable to ride since June.Did my first ride today. This year I have been unable to ride at all from June to late September. So far this year, I have 3400 miles in, while last year I did 8800. Anxious to get back my stregnth.
Still did not seem too bad. Was not winded, even on the climbs. During my down time, got in some trainer time, but not much.
In past, I averaged 15 mph, with 3 major climbs over 26 miles.. Yesterday, I did 10 mph. Hope it will not take more than a month to get my stregnth back.
I hope to do a ride in Arizona in late November. Gained almost 20 pounds.
Mad that I would let that happen... Do hope I can ride to work at least once a week.
Ride was pretty nice.. Light winds, high near upper 80's. As always, traffic looks best from the cycling lane.Sunny.

Glad to see you are back commuting! Anyone that trains like you will come back quickly. You might not make the speeds you would like, but I bet your endurance will be back soon.

Just give yourself time, CZ. Eventually you'll be back to your former levels, but it takes time to readjust.

Appreciate the sentiments..The ride yesterday felt pretty good. So good to feel the morning sunshine and clear air.
Believe that or not.. Much of Southern California is aflame.. So far the foul looking air to the north, seems to be moving away from us.
But yesterday's commute... Going i did about 10 mph. Coming back I did about 13 mph.. Even though working all night, felt ok..Slept great when got home. And in spite of the fact the climbs are worse returning home..
My wife has her car in the shop. Hope that cinder laden air to the north is pushed against us. Gina will drop me off half way to work, so that Tomorrow she has my car..So I get to ride half way to work tonight and all the way back tomorrow.
Eager to have such luck.. Have to drop those 20 pounds.Then I might get back to my 15 mph average.

I had a great ride this morning, after missing all but the first two rides last week. Bit of variation too - Had to take my brother over to the railway Station, so put him on the bus and arranged to meet in town, about 3 miles. I arrived 10 minutes ahead of the bus! The remaining ride to work was great too - frosty and sunny.

My last ride was on saturday. Six miles to where I work,then I caught a ride to the woodlands, a subburb of Houston to walk 5.6 miles for M.S. not a bad time at 1.5 hours, but I much prefer riding my bike! My shins were sore, different muscle groups I suppose. I'm still waiting for my EZ-1 recumbent to arrive from 'Bentrider Online so the Wal-mart wonderbike is now up to 768 miles on the clock. God is sooooo good! Somehow He just keeps that $99.00 Mountian bike going!
