34 degrees C is hot. Around 92 to 93 degress F. Wouldn't it be easier for the rest of us if the USA would go metric? :p |
Yeah Antonius... It probably would! Anyway you slice it though, Hot is still hot! Thanks for the translation. :D

It actually cooled slightly on the ride home, still warmer than I would like, however. We also got a bit of a dust storm over the coast here this afternoon, although not nearly as bad as last year's effort. Some of the Northern Gold Coast suburbs are burning down, too.
This is why I like the rain. |
Too much water today for me, it's raining extremely hard, the puddles are deep and it's foggy on top of it all. I drove to work so that I can survive to ride tomorrow.
|
First chance I had to commute in this week. Rainy day yesterday so no ride.
The ride in this morning was ok. The roads were still wet from the rain yesterday and it was cool and foggy this morning. Besides that it was uneventful! |
I also drove my car to work this morning. The rain was blowing sideways with very high wind gusts. The weatherman was calling for 2" of rain before lunch.
The rain is supposed to slow later in the day, so I might run out for a joy ride after work. |
Rain today, for the first time in ages. Something of a pleasent surprise in some ways, although it was a bit cold. Things look dry for the ride home though.
Cheers, Ed |
Ritz, or anyone interested in conversions,
Type "34c in f" into the Google search field. Converts a lot of other things too. |
Great ride last night although I was very tired when I got home. I had some extra time so I took the long way home which includes the killer hill about 5 miles from home.
The whole ride was in the dark and I've never taken the hill route in the dark before. Not sure why, just never have. Wow, what a cool ride it was. I turned my front lights off (it's on a private road owned by IBM with no traffic going to the facility and only very light traffic coming from IBM). Pitch black !!! Very eerie. But very cool. Zooming down the other side (with lights a'blazin') I got to see all of San Jose laid out in full lighted splendor. OK, so it wasn't that majestic, but it was cool. |
A great ride to work in perfect temperatures until I got a flat tire one mile from the office. I walked the rest of the way in. On the other hand, this was my first flat since June. Thats about 750 miles -- probably a record for me.

Miserable. Rainy, cool, slick. I loved every minute of it.
Hockey ;) |
Partially cloudy this AM with sun directly on me. Quite nice, all the colors washed clean from the recent rain and gleaming in the sun. However the temps were down w/o the cloud cover, mid 40s on my ride this AM. Looks like mid to low f40s for the next week, and even colder after that if you trust the long range forecast that far.
Last night I rode run in super gusty winds. It started off OK, with a light tailwind even. Then the wind shifted to a nasty crosswind with really strong gusts. Kinda fun actually :) |
Mrfix was probably right. Even though it wasn't very cold, 40'ishF/4-5C, it was very wet and windy. Fortunately, most of my route has windbreaks, but the street flooding was enough that I needed every bit of raingear I own.

A fairly nice ride in , around 65 degrees F. Cought a ride home with my Wife tonight, a little nervous about the surgery tomorrow. All in all a great day though.
|
Reasonably clear and pleasant ride this morning, certainly much better than yesterday. I'm told yesterday's dust cloud was actually visible from space.
|
Jean, you have an amazing amount of dedication, I drove yesterday and rode the trainer on the Cyclops last night. It was a nice ride in this morning at 39 degrees, the roads still wet from all the rain. It starts getting light now shortly after i leave home, I got to watch the sun come over the hills on the way in.

Wonderfull ride home last night. I finnaly had the wind at my back! :D What a refreshing ride that was!
The ride in this morning was warmer, about 42f. The weather is supposed to be warming up this week and next week. Todays high is going to be in the low 70's. |
This was my first Ice Bike morning of the season. We got 10cm of wet snow yesterday and last night that froze into some very icy sections. I had my studs on so I was doing ok, slow but ok. My 5 speed POS IceBike was frozen in 1st gear, probably a good thing as if I could have built up any speed I might have bought it.
One complaint though, on one part of my current commute there is a bike lane I use. Well with all the snow the solid line is not visible thus the motoring public decides it is a good idea to drive half of thier car in the bike lane giving them 15 feet between the two traffic lanes. It nerved me out this morning having cars partially in the bike lane, going 60kph, on ice, with no winter tires. If this keeps up I might have to spec a new, less convenient route to stay away from the cars. |
Nice, cool, crisp, autumn ride in today from WG. I believe there's been a 20-degree (F) dip in temps from a day or two ago.
|
Almost completely clear today with a stunning view of Mt. Rainer with what looked liked clouds pouring off its shoulders. Coldest morning so far, almost wished I'd put my full fingered gloves on. Slight headwind and I wasn't moving as fast as yesterday. Saw a number of other cyclists out today - they have been pretty sparse this week.

This is probably not the place for this... but I want all of you living in and around the wildfires to know that you have a rather large group of commited Christians praying around the clock for your safety and recovery of your property. Surgery was a sucess this morning, now for the recovery... No ride today, surprise, surprise!

Went to meet my wife after work at a friend's house about 10 miles from downtown. Used my new Cygolite NiCad system. Man, that was great to be zipping along the river bike trail. What a great ride! Sometimes it makes me want to buy a house farther from the office....
|
It was a wonderful ride home after work tonight. There was little to no wind, there was a crescent moon, and the auroa borealis was in clear view in the northern sky.
Hoping to get a 40 mile ride in this saturday. They are predicting highs of 68 F. Not bad for the first day of November. |
Perfect fall rides, although most of the leaves are now on the roadway. I had a scary illustration of what is wrong with relying on reflectors. 2 pedestrians were walking against the traffic (as they should) on a dark stretch. One was wearing a reflective vest over otherwise dark clothing. I did not see them until we were close to colliding. Apparently my light beam's angle to illuminate the road surface for me doesn't get enough height to give good reflection off the vests, and it is a relatively narrow beam. Reflectors are good at sending light back to the light source, which in this case did neither me or the peds any good. Active lights are essential.

Great ride to work this morning under clear skys, temp was 31 degrees with no wind. I was dressed perfect for the temp. The roads a finally drying up from all the rain and the leaves are crunching under the tires. The weekend is forcasted to be warma nd clear so it will be an opportunity to rack up some miles.
