Hey folks, I've still been with you although I haven't had a chance to post much recently. Busy, you know.

Anyway, after a tough training-riding day Saturday and a fast 10K run yesterday, I added 22 miles this a.m. I'm whumped.

Hey, my trusty Trek 520 is nearing 5000 miles now and the back rim is cracking all over the place. I noticed it last week on the way home. It has stock Bontrager Fairlane rims and around many/most of the spokes are cracks ... some quite sizable. It's sitting in the garage now until I get this little problem fixed. Don't feel quite safe on the bike with the rim in bad shape like that.

Hey everyone, have a good weekend?

Last week we had a little fog a few days, so I was ready for it.
I also use prescription glasses, but when it's foggy I remove them.

This morning it was hazy sunshine riding in, then after 4 miles it was like hitting a wall of fog, never seen that much of a defined fog bank, It was really weird, one side of the street was hazy sun, and across the street it was black.
You could see the fog moving North to South at about 5 mph... (OK ??? kph...)

After crossing the street the visibility was about 20 yards (at most)...

Really weird...

Great weekend here in the Seattle area, especially Saturday. Went out and did a 40 mile urban loop and was just in shorts and a flannel! Today is more of the same, clear blue skies, temps almost to 60f when I set out and light variable wind. Really didn't want to come in to work...

I had to drive today. Picking my bike up from the LBS after repairs from being hit by a car Thursday before last. Be back on the bike commute in the morning!

Bikes: Still have a few left!

It was a great weekend down here in Olympia also, got in some recreational miles Saturday & today's commute was as good as it gets in March! 64F, no wind & sunshine. Rode the MotoBecane Grand Jubile; great for fast commuting. Don

For some bizarre reason the rain stopped just as I was setting out this morning -- not a happy camper. Still, at least it's not hot right at the moment, which is always good. Fairly uneventful ride this morning, except that I clocked a milestone -- 7,000km since my last flat.

I'm with ya, farrenator, I rode home in -3 C with a -7 windchill, even though it's my first ride in a week (I was on call for work last week, had to drive), I am tired of it already! It was also my 50th birthday yesterday, wanted to ride for 50 minutes to celebrate, but had to hurry home for supper and cake because I had to work late (had a stupid meeting at work from 4 to 6:00 (I'm usually done at 4:00!!!) I would have liked to put in 50 km or even 50 miles, but it was too windy, too miserable and I didn't have time!

Not an epic ride this morning - My legs felt as if they were filled with concrete after playing football after work yesterday! It was also windy and threatening rain.

Cheers,

Ed

oh man...colder (3 C) but no rain, no wet streets, and riding four days into a 7-day fast is still OK, but moderately slower.

Then again, it's snowing outside as I type this. At least no hail like yesterday. Just gotta hope that it's not going to stick, as I'm on my racing bike (decided to chance it...)

got 7 straight days going after a longish period of snow-based train/car riding in Feburary. Hope that the cold spell warms up!

Cold but beautiful ride in this morning. Tempature was around 19F. The birds where out singing though. It felt good to be back in the saddle again. Tempature is supposed to rise to the mid 50's this afternoon. Looking forward to some warmer weather!

Bikes: Giant OCR3

Had a good ride in today. Got some new bike shorts at REI (yay dividend) yesterday. I like them. They fit better than my current ones. I got them because the ones I have don't dry all the way overnight. Now I can wear dry bike shorts every day.
The ride in was nice. Had a nice little tailwind, and it was a little bit warmer than it has been (I'm guessing 50s).

Cold, very cold, I'm looking for some warm mornings. It's been a tough winter, I'm beat, the bike's beat and the winter cycling clothes are beat. My spirit is wearing thin, I need some warm weather and clean roads.

Yesterday was so nice and I was so busy early in the morning, I did not check the weather for the next day; so I did not know the good weather was going to end...
Yesterday, I had to get on the bike and appreciate the warmth..
Returning today after Nite shift, it was really foggy and a heavy drizzle for about 8 miles of my 26 mile commute.
Thank God I live in So Cal. I am not used to that crappy weather.Slowed down my time by about 30 minutes. The grit on the road had turned to mud..
I am retentive about my bikes. My panniers are covered with mud. Drive chain covered with grit. I had to wash that stuff off before I could go to bed. Even though the rain was really a heavy drizzle, the dark substance just oozzed off the drive train. I washed it just about two weeks ago.. Seems I noticed drivers seem a little more wacky and out of control in the wet conditions.

Clear and crisp morning. Nice to be back on the bike after a week of business travel.

Abandoned the tights for the season today. Yesterday I was far too warm even riding home at 11pm (that's the software industry for ya) So today I'm just wearing shorts, t-shirt and flannel, it was about 5 degrees colder than yesterday, mid 50sF and the wind is back. I started out kinda cold but warmed up. I packed my leg warmers in case I need em for the ride home. Nice day out though, the sky 2/3 blue with a 1/3 of the sky toward the east covered in a smattering of clouds that looked airbrushed onto the sky.

The ride home was awsome! 71F, sunny, and 25mph winds gusting to 35 or so. Bring on summer!

Bikes: Still have a few left!

We had some variety in South Puget Sound country today. It was cold & clear 39F at 6:00 AM & I hadn't checked the weather forecast so I rode my Motobecane Grand Jubile in again expecting another beautiful day. By 11:00 AM it was sunny & 54F but lots of clouds rolling in, it changed to sprinkling & overcast while I ate lunch so I returned on my Centurion. By 3:30 PM when I left for the day, a heavy shower was just beginning. Looks like our weather has returned to normal for this time of year.

MrFix I hear you loud & clear. Last weeks snow caught me with the lights (new NiteRider Digital Evolution) dead on my snow bike. I missed 3 days because of that. My wool jersey is at the cleaners. I pulled the cleat off my winter boots getting them unclipped when they had frozen in. I'm back on my hybrid and trying hard to think spring. I ordered some SPD sandals.

Great ride home last night! The wind was finally at my back! what a great relief that was. The tempature was around 57(F) and it was very sunny.

We had some rain showers last night so the ride this morning was wet. I got a little rained on but not much at all. Besides that it was a very nice peacefull ride in. The ride home tonight should be great, tempature is supposed to get to the low 60's(F)

Woo Hoo!

Ridelot - same thing happened to me last night, at last a wind that didn't need to be fought

This morning was a different story, since it was windy and cold. It made for a good ride though, because I can begin to see the first signs of spring.

Cheers,

Ed

Great riding weather today, with very little wind for a change. And for once I had no encounters with ignorant drivers - instead I came across many courteous drivers who were happy to hang back and let me have the right of way I'm allowed. Stranger things have happened, but not by much...

I'm loving the commute in short sleeves again - only needed the jacket for the first 2 miles until i got warmed up.

Bikes: Many

Man, I envy those of you that can actually ride in shorts and short sleeves. Still, I had a nice ride in this morning and I took my summer bike for the first time this year. It was in the mid 30s F which is unusual for this time of year and they say we might hit 60F. According to our weather man that will be the warmest temp we've had since October 24th! Oh, and the sun is suppose to come out too. You can finally smell spring in the air and they've sweeped the streets!!! Thats the earliest I've seen! Bring on spring I'm ready
