Great morning ride with temps in the upper 30's. Although it was chilly, it was nice not to have to deal with the high winds that we had Sun and Mon (some gusts as high as 50 mph). This was my first ride since last Thurs-had to give the legs a break-and I felt good and strong. I also noticed many more riders this morning, 8 to 10-a record. I wonder if the switch to daylight savings gets more people out there. The ride home should be nice with temps in the 50's.

It was amazing how much less work it was, relative to yesterday, pulling my daughter in the trailer to day camp and then on to work. Really great conditions! I only saw three other cyclists, but I was off my normal route.

Sure was nice riding home in the light yesterday. Work hasn't been making me stay overly late the last week or so and I been able to ride home in deep twilight. With the DST switch it was fully light and Flannel and shorts weather. Anyway today was the same as yesterday -- overcast, upper 40sF little or no wind. Made better time in today -- gotta keep pushing myself, it's only 48 days til I'm on tour...

32F, big full moon & clear at 6AM, sunny & 63F this afternoon, glad I wore shorts today. I can't keep my dark green car clean, its caked with tree pollen within a day or two, If I drove it more, it would probably stay cleaner but that would cut into my bike time. Don

4:30 a.m. -10 C with the windchill, 25 km/h headwind. Moon so bright I had a shadow. Wouldn't have traded the ride for anything.

Yesterday, left the office, got to my bike and found both tires flat. Popped off the front the front, found a hole at the base of the valve stem- used my spare- pumped, went for the rear. Same problem!! Frick- no second spare, no way to patch. Took my bike up to my office and had to take the bus home- hated it, I hadn’t ridden the bus for three weeks (we have had a GREAT stretch of weather in NorCal). Got some new tubes that night, rode the bus in again in the AM- and again HATED IT- too many people, too slow- no control of my own destiny. Worked the day- replaced the tube and rode home tonight- LOVED it! Those two bus rides probably made me appreciate my ride tonight more than I otherwise would We are all lucky to be able to commute- enjoy every day on the bike!!!!

Shoes were still wet this morning. This is good, since it didn't rain today. Pretty uneventful ride in this morning, except that I managed to get every red light between Mermaid Waters and Southport.

Decent ride home yesterday home. Warm, temps were in the mid 60's(F).

The ride in this morning was relaxing, I took my time and was in no hurry to get to work So I enjoyed my ride in. Temps were in the low 40's(F).

Good ride in today. But some doofus in a pick-up truck just couldn't wait behind me at a stop light and went into the empty right turn lane. I suspected he was going to go straight when he didn't turn right on red. Sure enough, the light turns green and he guns it to get out ahead of me. I trailed right behind him thru the next couple of lights.

Another day of going faster than freeway traffic! Does anybody else speed up when riding on a frontage road and you're going faster than the traffic on the freeway?

best commute yet. not too cold, no headwind over the bridge. the rest was uneventful

There was a good quota of headwind on the commute today, which took a shaving off my average speed. Since I enjoy a "roundabout" route through the countryside on most days, there is one section where the wind was at my back. Whoosh! it felt magical to be cruising long at 25mph. The following section swings round to the opposite direction, and it was tough to maintain 20mph into the wind.

Great day to be out and about though, if a bit cold at first.

today's commute was ok. this morning at the intersection, i see a guy riding in Novara Randonee 2004 bike. it's a nice bike. i said hi to him.. he just looked at my 10yr old rockhopper coverted with road slick and just scuffed. he didn't even say hi back.

i just wanted to say that's a nice bike.. but i can't believe that even if he had on matching jersey and other stuff like that.. it's ONLY a $800 bike at REI. it's not like over $1500.. and he's giving me dirty look. if the bike is over 1.5K then yea.. he could do that.. because i'd give him props for his nice bike. but i'm in my rolled up golf pants, golf jacket and my bell helmet, I still don't feel i deserve that look that's all.

i have a $500 sirrus at home and even if i do ride.. i still say hi to everyone regardless.. because the main thing is everyone should enjoy their ride. to me that's just very discouraging and disrespectful to other riders. other than that... it was a great ride. sorry.. had to vent~

yeah... i agree. regardless of skin color or type of clothes you wear while biking or any kind of bike, i would still say hi.

on a good note.. last night as i was riding home.. this rider and i was riding on the sidewalk, because that section of the road is too narrow on the right side of the road for us to ride on. anyway, he was coming towards me, and i was riding towards him... and the sidewalk was about 3 ft. wide only. he stop and lean to the side so i can ride through... and i said hi and thank you, while for that brief moment, he said.. nice bike... have a good ride. now that was awesome! most of all, i was still on my old rockhopper as well. now was courtesy enough to keep me pumped up about commuting with my bike. that guy was cool!

the ride home was going great - until the zipper on my cheapy eastpak backpack decided to break, causing my belongings to be spewed onto the street. luckily a few bystanders helped me gather my things and nothing was lost or broken. i spend a good 5 minutes trying to fix the zipper, and finally ended up sinching it shut with a long sleeved shirt i had packed.

good thing that reload bag i ordered should be ready any day now.

This morning, as I pulled to the side of the narrow street the clinic is on, to wait for a hole in the traffic, I heard "phshhh". So then I had to wait a really long time for a big enough hole in the traffic to walk my bike across. Crazy day at work. No lunch, as usual. Working late, knowing that I have to patch a tire. So I finally finish work, go to the basement and patch my tire. I'm pumping the tire up when I start to feel a blast of air on my hand, from the pump. Apparently the seals decided tonight was enough.
You know your spouse is supportive when they agree to drive 20 minutes to bring you another pump, offer a ride home once, and then head home while you get your riding fix. Thanks, Dan, you're the best hubby in the world. The spring peepers are singing, the wood cock displaying, and today was the first day I wore knickers.

Back to normal Spring weather today: overcast all day with a few sun breaks, no wind & the clouds meant it was not as cold as previous mornings. I rode a ways with another commuter at 6:15 AM. He had a neat blinkie mounted on his helmet, the lights blinked around in a circle sequentially. Haven't ever seen one like this before. I only saw it when he turned off my route & rode away so I couldn't ask him the brand or where he got it.

Milestone yesterday afternoon -- 8,000 flat-free km. Closing in on the record people, it's not far away now! Celebrated with a beautiful ride to Hinze dam last night, but more on that later. Southerly wind picking up this morning, keeping the temperatures a little cooler than at this time last year (when it was 34C by 7am).

And of course now that you've said that, you're virtually guaranteed to get one within the week.

I'm not normally superstitious, but I swear the inner tube gods have it in for me. On the only night in months thaqt I NEEDED to be home on time, I get a flat. Fortunately I'd left with enough time that it didn't make me late.

Ha ha! No chance buddy! I'm on a run. I won't be getting another flat at least until I've broken my previous flat-free record (12,000km set in 1999, broken on Christmas day at Lower Beechmont, still remember that flat). I'm invincible!

Great ride home last night, weather was really nice with tempature around 72(F).

The ride in this morning was wet as we had rain all last night. Supposed to be a pretty nice day so ride home should be good.

Rough ride in this morning. I rode an old mountain bike of mine that I'm selling to a co-worker. I love that bike--in the dirt--but it's no road bike (not that my commuter is a racer but at least I've got slicks on it with better road geometry). It was pedal-coast-pedal-coast-lose speed, I couldn't keep much of a rythym. The heavy, slow-rolling knobbies, lower seat position, and jarring ride of aluminum compared to steal, made it a slow commute. I was passed by a guy that I can normally keep up with, not today, I just let him go. Well, it looks like I'm going to have to take the Metro home (suck) but I hope he likes his new bike (I'll really miss it) and I'm looking forward to being back on my regular commuter tomorrow.

Another day pulling the trailer. Dropped off my daughter at day camp, and rode on to work. Watched a rider ahead of me blow off a stop sign, then called him on it when I passed him.

The best part was getting to work. There, on the basement bike rack, was a lugged steel Nishiki, set up for clipless and converted to fixed gear! I left the person a note: "nice bike!"

How Was the Commute Today?

Losy. I set up my single speed scwhinn last nite and was pscyed to ride in. First off the bat I noticed I didnt tourque my stem bolt down and seat was too high. Ok turn around ride home adjust everything. Two miles into my 5 mile commute flat! no pump no patch: I know I'm an idiot and I swear to you it was the single only first ever never had done befor time I whent out the door with out a patch kit and a pump. Anyway it was a nice morning so I had a nice walk in. Fortunatlly there is an lbs 2 blocks away
