Beautiful ride in this morning-nearly perfect. 67 degrees, little humidity, spectacular sunrise over the Potomac silhouetting rowers and sailboats. I, however, have been suffering from allergies and was quite lethargic, barely maintaining 14-15 mph, that should improve this afternoon as I take my Clariton at work. I guess we're expecting severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Guess I'll have to put the hammer down since I left my rain gear at home today.

Cool, crisp, and brilliant sun. Got a late start. (that darn snooze bar was just to tempting this morning) Hammered my way in and still got to the office with 10 minutes to spare.

Hmmmmm... you realize that that's why it's probably going to rain this afternoon, don't you? :)

Nice day today, wide open blue skies with Mt. Rainier fully visible, low wind and a bit warmer than the last few days. Trail is starting to get too crowded and as I'm doing extra miles on the commute for tour prep it may be time to abandon the trail for a while. Well at least for the ride home when I actually have some energy :D

This was a perfect spring day. I rode my Bianchi, which usually wears sewups but last night I had decided the roads on my commute just had to much junk on them so I put on a set of rigida clincher rims with 18c tires & had a fast ride in to work. About an hour after arriving I walked by my bike & noticed the front was flat! Checked things out & discovered a dagger shaped piece of rock was the culprit. At least clinchers are quick to fix. Don

Doesn't work that way -- I leave my rain gear at home everyday in the hope that it might rain. Haven't had a lot of success lately. Oh we've had some decent rain in 2004, but it always seems to stop every time I go out for a ride.

Today was about 70 on the way in with a pretty steady 10-25mph headwind. It SUCKED! On the way back I rocketed along at 21mph+ with no wind whatsoever. 14mi, but felt like 100 after the ride in and my 40mi yesterday.

Wasatch_commute 04-22-04 11:32 PM

Had to ride about 5 miles with 35-40mph headwind on the way home from work tonight. It was a bad experience, but I looked at it as a good workout. Kept telling myself "wind is your friend." (a quote by N7CZinMT on this forum)

"Hmmmmm... you realize that that's why it's probably going to rain this afternoon, don't you?"

Almost worked, it did sprinkle a little just as I got home-they are predicting more significant rain today however. Does that kind of jinx only apply to myself? I don't want to ruin it for the others. Today marks my official first complete week of riding. For whatever reason I've only managed 3 to 4 days per week thus far. I'm a little tired today (due mostly to allergies) but otherwise feel good. Besides, I wasn't going to take a chance with Metro or driving today as the IMF and World Bank protesters are in town and might make traffic difficult. The ride in was just about perfect: 62 degrees, clear skies, and little wind. I took my time and spun in averaging about 15 mph. It looks to be a nice day to finish the week on, next week: vacation.

A beautiful spring day here in Oxfordshire. I was a little tired and slow this morning, but the ride was fantastic. Clear skies, great views from the hilltops sunshine - superb!

Have a great weekend everyone,

Ed

I had a good ride in this morning, a little cool (39F/4C) but a spectacular sunrise with pinks, oranges on a blue horizon. With the birds singing and the air so clean a fresh, makes you glad your alive... especially the fact that it's a Friday and you've got a weekend in front of you. I rode my winter bike this morning with summer tires, it felt weird, I haven't riden it since the last snow fall, but it's fun to change bikes once and a while. Have a great weekend!

Another warm-up week.
Monday was 39 degrees in the morning, by Wednesday it got to 49, this morning it was 62... All measured at the same time arriving into work at 7:00am.

Back to Spring?

Zin 04-23-04 09:50 AM

Sunny and mid 40's this morning. I was a bit over dressed. 18mph ssw winds. That means head winds for the ride home. Taking off at noon and look to enjoy the predicted 70F day! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

froody 04-23-04 11:40 AM

Yesterday was my first small-front-gear-free day. Hopefully I can keep it up tonight to make it 2 straight days. (The hill on the way home is steeper than on the way to work.) Also this is my first 5-day commuting week since usually I only work 4 days a week. Milestones galore, and the weather is perfect for it. I can't find my other pair of shorts, though.

Overcast & a light drizzle this morning, looks like showers all day but supposed to go into another sunny spell beginning Saturday. Enjoy your weekend.

Zin 04-23-04 03:39 PM

What a great day! Mid 70s and sunny! I took the afternoon off and went for a 20 mile ride. 10 miles out to some hard climbs then 10 miles in a 24MPH head wind. Forgot to mention that I had the loaded panniers on for this ride.

ollo_ollo 04-23-04 06:05 PM

It turned sunny this afternoon. We should have a great weekend. Lots of cyclists out today once it cleared up.

AG7KinMT 04-23-04 10:24 PM

The ride in was nice with a tail wind. The ride home was warm. 70s for temps. The head wind was really tough, but I made it! I am still new to commuting and riding in general, so I very happy with the accomplishment. :)

Ed Holland 04-26-04 06:25 AM

Nice ride in today, taken slightly easier than usual due to the aftermath of yesterday's "training" and some crazy traffic problems. Why oh why does the council send the roadsweeper out at 08:30 on a Monday morning?

Cheers,

Ed

Sunny morning. Temp around 40F/4C. Light winds. Its getting noisier in the mornings. The geese have increased in number exponentially and are quite vocal early in the day. Sure is different from my winter commutes where the only sound is my own breathing and the tires on the snow.

Stubacca 04-26-04 09:01 AM

Pleasant ride in today, with just a slight headwind and cool temps. Took it pretty easy today - the legs weren't the freshest after a 50 mile flat ride and 50+ mile hilly ride over the weekend!

I passed two 'sting' operations at red lights - the cops were having a field day ticketing red light runners and speeders. Love it!!!

mtessmer 04-26-04 10:02 AM

Ahhh, sunny morning but a little brisk (39F/4C) and it's only suppose to get up to 57F/14C and high winds. Oh well, it's all part of the adventure. I had a great weekend on the tandem with my wife, we put some good miles in both days. Now if it would just warm up.

billwatson58 04-26-04 01:14 PM

Mid 40s this morning, clear skies, minimal traffic = NICE! For the ride home, 20+ mph headwinds, upper 50s temps. A sign I'm getting in shape?: this weekend I logged over 100 miles and today I don't feel sore.
