Great ride today. Temperatures were perfect, no headwinds, and the lights were switching pretty quickly when I hit the reds. I hooked up with another commuter on the way, and we chatted for a bit. He showed me a new shortcut throught he university to mix it up a little.

We parted ways, and 10 yards from the driveway into my office, I spotted a patch of broken glass too late to dodge it. I prayed that my magic tires would just repel the shards and I could go about my business.

NOPE. No such luck. I heard the PSSSSSS, unclipped, and started braking. I looked down to see the rear tire acting as a Slime cannon, shooting a pile of the stuff onto the ground. I've decided not to use Slime again, but I'll have to patch this tire up before replacing it tonight. I guess I know how I'm spending my lunch hour.

Fortunately, I didn't spill like I did when the front tire blew on me.

Great ride, cool breeze and beautiful sky. First day of riding in with my wife and son (she works at his school). Then I rode the rest of the way in to downtown Atlanta. Life is grand! (boy, are those endorphins still working...)

Rainy day here with temps in the low 60s. Wore my rain gear & really needed it. To bad I didn't remember my booties, shoes & feet got pretty wet. Don

I'll take 0' F and dry over sub 60 and wet any day. To get really cold, try 45 and downpour after midnight.

heh, had my first flat in 3000km's on friday too. i guess i shoulda kept that tire strip on (had a plastic thing that goes between the tube and tire). but then my rear tire was a hutchy carbon race tire, very soft, and it was gonna happen... patched up the tire and went off, was glad to see my mini-pump and tire patch kit finally made themselves useful to lug around.

I'd just call the cops. In fact, I wouldn't even bother to honk at them.

Having said that, I don't have a problem with them because I don't use those trails.

Tough ride today... I rode to a soccer field 18 km away to join some friends, played for 4 1/2 hours, and on the ride back I noticed my rear fender was rubbing on my tire. I didn't have the time to fix it (was working soon), so I rode on. By the end of the ride, I was huffing and puffing just to keep my speed above 10 km/h. Probably my toughest ride of the summer in some ways. I barely had enough time to eat before riding to work... in a car. I hate driving.

Well, today my whole day sucked. I copped the worst of just about every red light both on the way in and on the way home (must have seen Halley's comet six times), had a shyte day at work, had to deal with a lunatic bus driver on the Sundale Bridge who risked the life of his passengers to try to stop me from fatally owning him in the gridlock. He failed of course, but even that piece of 169% ownage failed to excite me. A presentation totally lacking in enterprise.

After a really hot and unpleasently humid night (during which I got precious little sleep) I awoke to pouring rain. The ride made for a refreshing interlude, but then I got to work..

I had the day off Friday, decided to head north on my bike to practice riding hills. An expected 3 hour ride turned to 4+ hours when I got lost. Arrived home dehydrated and sunburned. Had a great workout, though! Biked to work Saturday and Sunday; the weather has been unseasonably, delightfully cool.

This past Saturday I did a 90km ride which I thought it was a metric but my polar doesn't display individual ride distances. If it does I haven't figured it out yet.

I thought the ride in this morning was going to be a slow one. I found though that after having the Sunday off I was still quite strong and plowed on in to work. Now the ride home could be a different story. Pretty damn cool for August. I wish it would warm up bu the forecast is calling for rain all week! Oh joy...

[edit]...Oh well at least I didn't do the tear down and overhaul I was planning this weekend.

The ride in was great… very quite and cool… 77 degrees. The ride home will be a much different story… at least it will not be 100+. The mold count has been off the scale… my sinuses were killing me this morning. Plus, there is chance of rain through Thursday… oh joy. Cheers

Today was my worst commute yet!

My wife had an early meeting at work, and I had to deliver my son to his mother, in our truck! Waaaaaah!

I guess I'll have to go riding after work while wifey's at the gym.

Hey guys! After a long long long time off the bike, I climbed back on and did my commute again. Since we last spoke, I now have a new baby girl, and we just bought a new house.

My new commute is exactly 1/2 as long as my old one. (Now it's 7.5 miles). Its not nearly as scenic, and its a bit more hairy in one spot. It definately felt good to ride again. I think I'll make it a habit .

It turns out they already passed something like this in MN:

"Electric personal assistive mobility device" means a
self-balancing device with two nontandem wheels, designed to
transport not more than one person, and operated by an electric
propulsion system that limits the maximum speed of the device to
15 miles per hour.

I had thought that Segways were faster than that, but after looking through segway.com, it looks like they're only up to 12.5 mph. I can tow a trailer behind a bicycle a lot faster than that. I guess I'll have to play nice (but they sure do take up a lot of space, almost as much as a rollerblader and they're even slower...)

Our rainy weather went away Sunday Morning & we are back into a hot cycle again.
54F at 6AM today meant wearing a long sleeve jersey on my morning commute but by 3:30 PM it was 96F. Hard to work up much speed when its that hot. I saw lots of other cyclists on the way in this morning but none at all on the way home. I was the only "mad dog" riding in the heat. Tomorrow I have to bring a small Bar B Que in for our annual picnic. I'm considering driving in to deliver the grill then return home & make my regular bicycle commute for the day.

My body did not want to be on the bike this morning. My knees told me so. My legs told me so. My butt told me so. Temp was mid 40s (F).

The ride home after 10 hours with no breaks or lunch went much better. Was a pleasant 75F with a bit of a tail wind.

When I left home the temp was high 80's...Cross a pass over into a more inland valley ,farther away from the coast...I do not know what it was..My bike odometer has no thermother...At the plant, they said not long before I got to work, it was 100 degrees...I hate hot...Consdering it might have been near 100, think I got to work ok.. TOok the heat ok...That is usually not me...Did take a swig of Cytomax before I left and went through 2 bottles of water/gatorade in my 26 mile commute...
Hope the heat I can weather , because I often wimp out over 95...Wore my jersey with side vents.. Going up the hills was a little hot, otherwise I did ok...Like to think if under 100 , I can hack it...
When the asphalt is that hot..Could feel the heat thru my shoes...Sun so bright. Kevlar tires help...Asphalt at say 140 take a beating on your tires.?

About 15 or 16C and humid as hell. 11 miles of sweat stinging my eyes, especially on the last steep hill up to the office. Not the best ride in. But now? Endorphins are buzzing and I'm set up for the day.

20 degrees C this evening, the smoke has temporarily cleared, but I suspect it will be back with fires burning all around us and no rain in sight. Felt surprisingly good on the ride home this evening, considering I've had bugger all riding this week. Hopefully I'll get the pre-dawn rides back soon.

Very Nice ride in this morning with mild tempature and a slight headwind. traffic was a little heavy which was bad because the bulb in my headlight went out 3 miles into the ride.

This morning's ride was a real soaker! I had to take a 4 mile diversion since the local council were repairing one of the sections of road (I had left in time to accommodate this). The rain poured down, especially during the last section of the journey. Fortunately it is warm (no point in rain gear/waterproofs) so not uncomfortable but I arrived at work absolutely soaked. Looks like it has cleared up in time for this evening's journey.

Took all my clothes home last night and brought them back in this morning so it was a slow and heavy ride. Not too bad though, considering that the weather reports are calling for rain and thunderstorms all day and for the next couple of days (but, I already mentioned that.). No rain, and no real issues as I made good time and didn't have to fight off traffic. I should mention that last night I had a stiff tailwind all the way home, too bad I was loaded down with laundry.

Another great morning in Colorado. The temps were in the low 60's and the wind was calm. I saw 14 other bikes out this morning. This was my fastest time in to the office ever. Between you and me, I set a "how fast can I get there" goal earlier this year that I was starting to think might have been unrealistic. After this morning, I think it can be achieved and hope to get it in the next month or so.
