Ride home last night was night, a little warm but tolerable.

Rain on the ride in this morning. Lightning and thunder too! The rain was just ending when I got started, 3-4 miles of steady rain then just wet roads.

Ride home last night was nice: low 80s, light tailwind, sunny. But then there was the well-intentioned (?) driver who was compelled to inform me, as he rolled by in the right-turn lane, that I'm supposed to be on the sidewalk. I told him he was mistaken, and that he should go read the law. He responded inaudibly, so I repeated my suggestion, and he repeated his remark, whatever it was. He was certain that he was correct.

So sad that so many people readily accept the privilege of driving while entirely dismissing the responsibility that comes with it: knowing the law.

What can one do but ride on and look forward to the next opportunity to educate another motorist? The opportunity previous to THIS one was with a cop who insisted that bikes cannot use left-turn lanes. "The law requires you to stay to the right edge of the road" said he. !

Another great morning… unofficially (thermometer at the house) it was 67 degrees and very light winds. This weather makes me extra glad it is a three day weekend. Everyone have a great and safe Labor Day.

A pleasant breeze (22mph with 30mph gusts) from the north this morning. Had another well-intentioned but clueless motorist trying to cede me her right of way at an intersection. I've gotten pretty good at trackstanding but it requires two hands so I can't wave and I have to jerk my head while I'm yelling "Go already!"

It was 36F/2.2C when I left the house this morning. It felt a few degrees cooler when I hit the river bottoms. The sun is low in the sky now when I leave home. I'm glad to say that "The School Bus Tango" has not been much of a hassle yet this year. Last school year, I had one that would come up behind me and ride my wheel for a mile or so. Really bugged me.

Have a great weekend!

EDIT:Hey WonkerJaw, send some of that BBQ up this way! Montanan's don't know how to make good BBQ!

Had an enjoyable ride back last night. I didn't feel like pushing myself to go fast, so I took the long route home (only a few more miles, but lots more hills). Of course I ended up pushing a little anyway, but man is that looong down-hill stretch sweet.
Had a nice ride in this morning. The guy who never waves back actually turned his head towards me today, so I know he sees me.

Looking forward to the ride home tonight. Going to do a road ride tomorrow morning if I can haul my a** outta bed and then on Sunday I,m hooking up with some old pals to do some MTB'ing for a few hours. Monday is a holiday. I love long weekends now that I get them off.

I had a great ride in this morning. and am looking forward to my ride home. It was unfortunate, because the traffic held me back from riding as far as I wanted to. I am continuing to work to the point of doing the whole commute sometime soon.

Cool this morning, wore long sleeved t-shirt. Stayed an extra half hour at work and maaaan was there alot more traffic. The school kids I get, but I think the rest were from the Labor Day week-end starting, which I have to work on (but get to ride too).

I rode the A bike to work today, even wore the non-walkable sidi shoes, because I was going to get the chance to take a long ride out of town after work. We were going to have dinner at friends but they cancelled. D'oh! Seems that they just had a bunch of compost and manure spread for their new landscaping and the windstorm we had last night blew most of it into the pool! Ha.

So, I'll just poke along home, hoping not to get run over. Have a safe holiday (in the States) weekend!

Took the day off so no cummute. As a substitute, I rode into town & got a haircut. Surprised at how little traffic there is around here in the middle of the day. Grandkids are coming tomorrow so we should have a busy holiday.

Coolish at 7 deg C, but clear blue skies again, plenty of warmth in the sunshine and only a 3 to 4 knot headwind on the way out. Weather is starting to warm up again, with an expected maximum of 18 deg C in the next couple of days.

Commutes at the weekend (delivering bike riding courses) also were pretty good. Even had shorts on yesterday, although the knees were starting to protest just a little on the way home.

Meanwhile up here it was already 18 degrees C by 7.30 am this morning. No wind to speak of, and the bike managed without any problems after yesterday's mis-haps at Springbrook. Actually felt surprisingly good.

Surprisingly busy for a Monday this evening, but I blasted through the Gridlock nonetheless. Contrary to slowing down when I lane split, I seem to be speeding up for it these days.

Obligatory weather report: 22 degrees C, with plenty of ocean spray around by the beach. Just beautiful.

Groovy trousers chris!

Goergeous weather here today and over the whole weekend. I was even inspired to ride yesterday despite a hangover brought on by our pathetic performance in the footy. How did we throw away a 2-0 victory against Austria (no offence intended to any Austrians who may be reading this)?

Cheers,

Ed

Your commute reminded me of the famous British race driver, Graham Hill. When he was a young man, he worked in a machine shop about 100 miles outside London. His wife to be lived in London, and every weekend he would ride his bike 100 miles to London on Friday and ride back home Sunday. When he got to London, he was too tired to do much romancing. But that surely was true love!

Well today was the first day loaded with my rack and one pannier. Stuffed with 5 days worth of rice and beans, as well as a half ton of tools (bike tools mostly, I'm a dork) and a pair of jeans for work, it felt like it weighed another 25lbs. It was slow going but I rode in to work and had a great ride, arrived fully awake and relaxed. Yes, I had to work labor day but its time and a half so I don't care

What a perfect day to commute! Rode in this morning at 4:30 and got to watch the sun rise! Warm, no wind, and best of all... no cars!!! Coming home was a treat too. Very warm and sunny, and still, fewer cars than normal. I could get used to this!

Rykoala, I can sympathize with having to work on Labor day, bummer to have to work when the rest of the world is off, but the extra cash sure comes in handy! (we get double time today!)

Nice ride home last night. Flat calm on the river. We were right in the middle of a big high pressure system with plenty of miles between isobars = no wind.

This morning, the invisible headwind heading out to the office, but no cloud, lots of sunshine, and a bit of smoke haze (or maybe with all the damned mainlanders moving down here to live, it might be smog... ugh!)

Going to spend the rest of the day painting out the new office.

Had a funeral Saturday, so I switched so that I could work today.
Ride in was near 70F with a steady 15mph wind at 3 o'clock, I saw 6 walkers & only 2 cars! That's less than a Sunday morning ride. This afternoon was somewhere around 80F with a strong 20+mph head wind. Oh well, glad I rode!

Smog in Tasmania? Isn't that about as likely as a romance between Elvis and the Tooth Fairy?

Temperature range of 17-19 degrees C on the commute this morning, yes, it was warming up quickly. Still, that's not as bad as this time last year, when it was 32 degrees C regularly for my 7am commute. The bike handled everything pretty well again this morning after last weekends calamities, but it's going in for some serious repairs tomorrow, so it will be the old beater, the "green machine" coming out to play.

Man, I really intended to hydrate up for a 100 degree ride...When left the ocean side of the pass, it was 90 plus..When got over the pass to the inland valley's, it was still in the 90's...To think I took in all that Gatorade/Cytomax in prepartion for a really hot ride and it only was in the lo 90's...And to think, I took it really well and did not feel all that hot..With hills and lo 90's, My average speed was 14. That is just ok, for this heat woos. .

Please, please don't destroy my fantasies. I simply can't imagine the gorgeous Tooth Fairy in bed with a big fat Elvis!

I think I've missed something here. I know you had a bad-hair day, but I don't recall hearing exactly what happened. So, what gives? And more to the point, how is the bike doing?

Good ride in this morning. Pretty typical. This week may be a rough one. We are supposed to get the after effects of Hurricane Frances. Lots of rain.
