Warmed up a bit and commuted today for the first time since my icy crash last friday. It was pretty windy this morning and I had one of those great tailwinds for a few miles. You know the kind where you are traveling the exact same speed as the tailwind. Makes it feel as if there is no wind at all. I saw a couple of raccoons too.

I rode to work and home in the rain here in Toronto through two construction zones I had dirt and thick mud all over the place and the wind was heavy BUT I loved it >Steeker

It was just around freezing this morning. I spotted another roadie cyclist in the distance and eventually caught up with him. He was a friendly fellow as it turned out, we exchanged a few words between gasps for air and swapped for the lead a couple of times until our routes diverged again. I wished him a good ride and finished the last couple of miles to work. How many drivers could say the same?
That made a nice change.
Cheers,
Ed

The commute was strange today. I rode to work wearing shorts, leg warmers, l/s shirt, and vest. I was HOT when I got to work. It was ~70F (21C) this afternoon so I wore shorts, s/s shirt, and vest. The traffic was rather cooperative for some reason.
Tomorrow it's supposed to be much colder and windy.
It's a wonder I'm not sick from the weather changing every day.

21F, clear with no wind & dry streets @ 6AM today, rode to work thru very light traffic. About 1 mile from work the streets were suddenly white with frost & I had to reduce speed. Kind of wierd that it was only frosty in this area but there are several hundred acres of woods around my workplace so it may have been foggy earlier. 51F & sunny this afternoon. Not your usual February day in South Sound Country. Don

Last night on the way home I got absolutely soaked. Just a steady soaking rain. Today is still damp but it should be pleasant.

Bikes: Raleigh Tarantula - with peeling decals, scratched paint, some green paint on the bars, purple aluminum brake levers - it was a freebie, and at least no one wants to steal it!!!!
First time riding today in, oh, about eight years. Nice ride - about 10C (50F), sunny, little/no wind. Mostly uphill going, so a nice downhill ride home. Legs were sore, but it felt good to start up biking again. Need to make a few adjustments on the bike, but I'm looking forward to the next commute.

Rode with my son to his school today. Cool and a beautiful sunrise, 42°F. Happy trails!
INP, congrats on starting back riding! How far is your commute?

Good ride in today. -17C without any wind. I forgot to charge the battery up for this morning. Thankfully the days are getting longer and therefore not as much need for a headlight to see the road with. I have four blinkies, an LED headlight and a 10 watt halogen headlight so if one craps out it is not a show stopper.
Today it felt like I could spin forever.....what a feeling.

good ride today.. -10C and just a slight side wind. I am starting to think that my fenders are too close ot the wheels and the snow packing up and freezing there is creating more friction. it got harder as I went. gotta fix that.

I have to attend a hearing today so I wore a suit, rather than just dress pants, shirt and tie. I have to say that it was fairly uncomfortable the way it rode up when I leaned forward. Maybe I need a more upright city bike.
I'll swing by the LBS on the way home tonight and see what they have in stock....

22F @ 6AM today & I was feeling all my years so I wimped out & drove to work. Spent the final 2 hours of my morning at a mandatory all staff meeting with our agency head (zzzzzzz), then went home for lunch. It was bright & sunny, 42F & heading for 53F so I rode back on my Bianchi. Pushed all the way for a fast commute which helped to clear the cobwebs. I arrived refreshed & ready for a productive afternoon. Don

not much temperature this morning, around 261 °K. last night's ride home was tough on me, with the headwind and the pelting snow and the uphills and the pain in the glavin...

Baltimore got hit by an unexpected snow dusting, 1/8 inch. No salt was put down, 60 accidents by 6:30AM, I-95 southbound was closed as were many other arteries to the city. Schools closed. All of this from an dusting. I thought my commute was going to suck big time. Looked outside and there was NOTHING on my street!! Apparently the edge of the storm stopped less than a mile from my house. I headed south to the train, very cold 22F, windy but no traffic at all. Winter has returned to the mid-atlantic. Weekend looks grim.

Mid 30s this am. It is starting to get light for ~ the last 2 miles of my commute. My rear derailleur has been creaking and getting progressively worse over the last week, so I converted my commuter to fixed gear last night when I got home (easy job because I still have everything from when I used to have it set up as a fixie). It was supposed to be temporary until I rebuild or replace my RD, but I had so much fun riding fix this morning that I might just ride it through the spring.

Pretty wet this morning, but I didn't think too much of it. Got a thumbs up from a motorist at a stoplight. Maybe he was feeling sorry for myself, but I prefer to think that he was saying "Attaboy!"

Pretty morning ride in this morning, beautiful sunrise (it's nice to see those on my ride in again with the longer daylight hours). It was a little cool though, 0 F/-18C. We'll be lucky to see the mid teens today for a high.

23F & clear @ 6AM today. The high humidity put a bite into the slipstream when I got up to speed but the streets were dry & there was not much traffic on the way in. Did a quick ride home for lunch & back in the sunshine, by 3:30 PM it had warmed up to 50F for my commute home. I could get used to this! Have a good weekend. don

11 degrees F, dry pavement, clear skies at 6:30 AM. Cold but great ride to work. Sunny and 30 F with a slight tail wind on the way home. Nice ride home.
