Forty-four degrees and partly cloudy skies on the way in. Heading for seventy degrees this afternoon. Nice ride in!

Back to the commute after 2 wks vacation. Full load in the panniers and I picked up a construction staple in the rear tire. At least I was close to a nice shady spot to change the tube. Glad to be back in the saddle at any price.

Rode the Super-POS into work. I was pulling it out of the garage when Mrs. Caloso was loading the twins in the van to take to her dad and stepmother's house. She said, "Nice beater!"

I tell ya', I can't get no respect! No respect at all!

Awesome ride home today. Slightest head wind, with temps around 70 degrees - sensational stuff. This is why I ride a bike.

Ugh. Another 85% humidity morning ride. It was beginning to sprinkle just as I left the house and I thought I'd have a comfortable trip, but it was not to be. Rain stopped after a couple of miles.

There's light at the end of the tunnel though. It's going to cool down starting today.

And I'm not so sure, but I almost wish it would snow.

Had a really nice ride in today. Working on my second straight day of commuting. Trying to get a whole week in, which hasn't happened ever. Weather is pleasant, low 70's, no wind and traffic was light.

rode most of the way today, blew off the train. Very humid. Expected afternoon temps to be in the mid 90's with similar humidity. Train is starting to sound pretty good. Don't know if I've got another 20+ in the legs at those temps. We'll see

yesterday's south wind turned to the west and picked up steam during the day - blew me off the road a couple of times. this morning it is 74 °F (dew point is 65 °F) and skies are fair. there was a red sky this morning, though, and this sailor needs no more warning than that to pack his shell, just in case he wants to be somewhat drier on the way home.

Good Commute today....Rain all the way in and 14C ta-boot. I nearly got hit today by a minivan mom who was in too much of a hurry to look both ways before turning left from a parking lot. Good thing one of the two of us was paying attention. I just had that feeling she wasn't going to look at me before proceeding to turn left across my lane of traffic. You should have seen the look on her face as I slammed on my brakes and she started to go and then saw me. Wow. I am sure she had to go home to change her underwear. Thank goodness for my defensive cycling skills; I don't think I look very good as a hood ornament.

Nice commute this morning. High 50s/low 60s, no real wind to speak of, and my legs were feeling strong. I ride the roadie this morning - shoes and laptop were already at the office, so a small backpack was plenty big enough to fit clothes and lunch. If the weather is nice this afternoon, I think I might just have to take the long way home!

I had a fast and humid ride in this morning. Traffic was cooperative, sun shining and birds singing.

43 degrees, light wind on the way in. 80 later this afternoon? We shall see. Nice ride in this morning, though.

I'll just let out a huge sigh of relief due to my afternoon commute. Light rain, temperatures in the high 60Fs. No more near-90-with-high-humidity sweatbox rides!

Summer was nice while it lasted. Now where's the snow?

Rode the "A" bike in today with the hope that I might be able to sneak out and get in a long detour home. With hell all breaking loose at the 5 o'clock hour, that didn't happen. Then my wife called at 5:30 to say she needed me at the house to feed, bathe, mind the kids while she ran an urgent errand. So I just changed shoes and hopped on the bike.

Flying down 15th Street, drafting a bus at 29mph, I feel my tie flapping in the breeze and I think to myself, Those people in cars don't know what they're missing.

Not a great start today. It was pouring with rain and on opening the shed, I discover that commuter no.1 has a punctured rear tire. Not as bad a day though, as it must have been for the driver of the mini that I passed on a country lane. The car was almost vertical, nose-up as it had spun on the road and flipped into the ditch There was plenty of debris on the road to suggest that it took an interesting route on the way to its final resting place

I'm Just glad I was nowhere near when this happened!

Cheers,

Ed

Bikes: more, please.

It's so hot, bikes will melt if you leave them outside for too long

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and hot. Highs in the mid-upper 90s.
Our heat indices will reach 100 degrees for a few hours this afternoon.

Morning wake up temp was 78F. PM rides promises to be different. Wonderful ride despite the humidity as I saw a Baltimore Oriole(not the millionaire orioles but the feathered O's). Brighter orange than my jersey. Been years since I've seen one. Glad to see they are still around.

Today was the first day it wasn't blazingly hot, and I was eager to ride. Somehow though, despite only being 78 degrees, it felt incredibly warm, and I arrived at work more sweaty then I ever remember. I guess it must be the humidity. There -is- a pretty thick haze hanging over the valley..so maybe.

I was so happy to find the AC cranking in the office. Sometimes they don't get it going early enough and I'm hot all day.

Drove today. But as I was driving down the offramp I saw a cyclist riding UP the onramp to head the wrong way on a [limited access] divided highway. I just don't understand what goes through some people's minds.

Well, the answer was obvious. I dont' know why I didn't figure it out earlier.

My helmet fell apart (plastic cover came off the foam), so I borrowed my wife's this morning. Now that I look at it, I see that it has very few (and small) vents.

I'm going to have to get over to the bike shop and get something decent.

Bikes: Many

Well... yet another rainy ride in this morning. The weather folks said we've had rain 30 out of the last 45 days... what a treat... hmmmm. It's suppose to clear up today and they tell us we may actually see more then one nice day in a row!!!! I'll believe it when I see it. I still had a nice bike commute in this morning, my Goretex jacket is getting allot of use.
