Well, it was a white ride in this morning, but it was a balmy 34F/1C. The roads were clear and just wet by lunch time. The wind is suppose to pick up this afternoon and, of course, it will be in my face on the way home. All part of the adventure, right?

My wet, cold ride home yesterday morning has been all but forgotten due to ideal conditions for todays ride in. Did, however, have have a strange clickng noise that seemed to come from rear wheel (hmmm...). No big deal, ride home at 3:30 tomorrow morning should be nice as well.
Have a great day !! |
Cold commute to work, 15F light winds, 17.5 miles one-way. Glasses froze...but at least there was no snow on the ground!
|
Excellent! Headed in: In the upper 20s, weird road blockade that cost me a couple minutes, but no big deal. Still kept the ride at about an hour. Slight headwind. Headed home: Even better, upper 40s and again a slight headwind (Why does that always seem to happen?). Great clouds. Made it home in 50 minutes because it's all downhill going home. Perfect after a trying day at work!

50F at 6AM with light fog, left a bit earlier than usual & was only passed by 3 cars on the way in this morning. Sunny by Noon & 60F this afternoon called for shorts & a Yellow bike. Don

Good ride to work and home. People on cell phones and driving make me nervous. I was getting ready to pull out of the parking garage at work and the two people in front of me were on cell phones. I just waited and let them go. Overall, my ride was good.
Have a good night. |
Since last riding, I service my rear derailleur and put some new rubber on. The ride is this morning was smooth and fine. There was no wind and the temps were in the upper 20s. The afternoon temp should be in the mid 60s. I saw four others out on bikes this morning. They are predicting snow here for the early part of next week.
|
Nice & easy. But they're predicting heavy winds later today so the ride home may be hairy.
|
Spring Break begins soon.
Flower scents floating about. No commute next week! |
It must be friday . . . I forgot my dress shoes so I am clogging around in my IP SPDs, making a fashion statement. Hey, at least I remembered the undies. Well, when I go out for lunch I will have an efficient pedal stroke!

Spring has arrived: Clear, calm and 58F. I'm almost embarrassed to mention how gorgeous this morning is here in Sacramento, especially after reading about frozen glasses.
Rode the "A" bike into work today, just in case I can slip out unnoticed this afternoon for a few miles. I'm noticing more road bikes in the bike cage lately, I wonder if others are having the same thoughts. |
I left home at 7:52 AM, a bit later than planned but my wife called and set me back. The first section of the ride consists of 100 yards of slight upslope, I had no problems here. Once I cleared the Palm Colony gate, I had a traffic free ride till I came to the "Las Posas Jig" (at least that is what I call it). I waited at the light then crossed and took Las Posas for several hundred yards of bicycle lane riding. I came to the turn for Rosewood, and took a right. Rosewood consists of a slight down hill, then it levels out. There was no traffic until I came to Podorosa. Here I had to wait for a car to pass then I crossed the street. I continued on until the stop sign at the Rosewood/Paseo Camarillo intersection. As no cars were there I blew through it and made my left. 400 yards later I pulled into the parking lot of the office.
Total time: maybe 9 minutes Mileage: about 1.4 miles Climbs: I'd say a good 30 feet. stop signs blown: 2/3 Time lost at red light: around 1.5 minutes Time late for work: 5 mintues Max speed: 16 mph (Rosewood decent) Min Speed: 7 mph (Palm Colony accent) I've been riding a 22/32/42 and think I may adjust this for next week to get max performance. |
Today was the best yet. It was above freezing and sunny so I left the windpants at home and wore only the jacket, jersey's and shorts. I have had two days off the bike to relieve a saddle sore and felt very strong this morning. I hit all 5 lights green and at warp speed and rolled into my office 2.78 miles and 8 minutes later. I did not have to worry about traffic in the congested spot today because they were all going the same speed I was so I just took the lane. I love this commuting thing. The problem is that I just get going when I have to stop ( I am too lazy to take the long way). We are moving next week and my commute will then be 9 miles each way. I just got a new job where they let me keep my bike in my cube so I get to take the TCR 0 to work. Life is pretty good right now!

This morning was windy ~15-20 mph headwinds most of the way in.
Going home should be a breeze (sorry for the pun :o ). Since I'll be going the other way, this morning's headwinds will be tailwinds. :D |
Wednesday during my commute (rather an errand) I ran over an old rusted piece of a coat hanger. My back wheel hit it and the hanger caught into my chain and went up into my rear derailer bringing me to a violent stop and destroying my rear derailer and cracking my sweet Avenir rack. I was going about 20 mph and the rear wheel just stopped. It was on a highway with fifty five mph heavy traffic. Close call. Back on the sadle today! :)

Giant rodent almost got me this morning - scared the sh*t out of me. About a mile later, my left clip-thingy came loose. So, I'm sitting on the grass of a grocery store tightening the thing when the sprinkler system starts. Didn't get too wet, but was beginning to think that perhaps my ride karma was out of balance. The rest of the ride was very nice. Still have a wierd clicking that I have not figured out.
Have a great weekend - ride !! |
Super windy on the way home. Wore me out.
|
39F at 6AM with patchy fog today...60F this afternoon, cloudy with sun breaks all day. Nice riding but almost got right hooked twice, once at lunctime then again on the way home this afternoon. Have a good weekend. Don

I ride 4 miles to work and 4 miles back. (Wichita, KS) Three days a week I am allowed one hour of workout time, so I get an additional 15 miles. I got 85 miles in this week. AM commute was 34F, ride home was 58F almost everyday. Cool wind out of NW. I lost my military ID on one afternoon workout ride and ended up re-riding the entire route to look for it. No luck.

beautiful 20 °F and sunny. first time on the bike in a week (don't ask about last week), and a fresh drive train overhaul to boot. wheeee!
|
Great ride in this morning....too bad I had to stop when I got to the office. No wind and no cagers this morning. There is an upside to a 6:30am commute. Conditions were -16 with very little wind.
Have a great day. |
This morning wasn't quite as nice as Sunday, which is probably a good thing. Yesterday it was 77F (25C) and bright sunshine. Summer is on the way!
Anyway, this morning it was in the high 40s, light wind, and slightly overcast. The traffic seemed kind of light too, or maybe they were just being "cooperative". ;) As usual I had to strip down half way to work. Took off my gloves as my hands were getting damp and removed the light weight windbreaker (with sleeves). I have two sleeveless windbreakers (one light weight - one heavier weight) but I wish someone made a short sleeve windbreaker. Some days a sleeveless doesn't work. My shoulders and upper arms get cool. Maybe someday. |
I left a bit late today, at 8:00 AM which is actually the time work begins. Temps were a bit warmer than last week so I had to keep things slow as I work in the cloths that I ride in. On this trip I was also using GPS, but as it was calibrated to a different set of satallites it was not useful on this trip, although I did hit 29 kph on the Rosewood slope. Back to the ride, exit from the condo gate was slowed due to a Honda Civic that arrived at the gate just before me. Once past the Honda it was a non trafficed ride to the Las Posas Jig. A wait at the light for eternity then the quick ride down Las Posas. I flew down the Rosewood slope. Valuable seconds were lost at the stop sign as the lady in the small car did not want to use here right of way. After the turn onto Paseo Camarillo, I used the sidewalk just because I could, then slid into the office late, but not as late as my supervisor. Total commute time was maybe 10 minutes.
|
A fairly stiff north wind this morning. My mom, the retired fourth-grade teacher, will tell you that a north wind makes kids hyper and spacey. I was hoping it wouldn't affect motorists the same way.
So far, so good. |
Well, we are certainly stuck in this winter thing, it was 12F/-11C this morning and we'll stay well below freezing all day. At least we have more daylight. I still had a wonderful ride in this morning, I'm use to it.
