 The boss got caught in a slow line of traffic and wondered what the hold up was...He charged me like a bull as I pulled into the parking lot and I got a shouting ear full. He said he was temped to scream something at me as he passed!!!!!!

err...yeah.

EDITED: Oh and then on the way home a hot guy in the oncoming traffic hung out the window and yelled I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

???? Guess commuting has it's ups and downs

spidercyclist 03-15-05 11:35 PM

Good ride on the way to work .but on the way home I found alot of loose spokes on by wheels . So when I got home I fix it . But still a good ride . Have a good nite .

ridealot 03-16-05 06:22 AM

Great ride home yesterday. A slight wind but not to bad. Tempature got up to about 48F. Traffic was heavy in a few spots, I guess everyone was taking the backroads to avoid the highway.

Ride in this morning was real nice. A little cool with temps around 25F. The ride was going great and I realized the wind was at my back, which was good, but means that I will be riding into the wind on the way home. Unless I can get my weather control device done by then and I can switch that around.

Finally back to commuting by bike. I don't know how those folks in cars can stand it. Out of town for 3 days last week(S. Carolina-azaleas blooming, nice) and drove the first 2 this week. Ride was great, good temps, rather warm. Need to rebuild my entire drive train on my commuter. May have to switch to the roadie in the meantime.

Light rain, tailwind, and cool (42°F). The rain sure does clear the bike path of dog walkers and moms! Happy trails.

mmerner 03-16-05 09:00 AM

Chain fell off again, in exactly the same place (of road). making it two nights in a row. wasn't able to fix this time. ending up walking ~4 miles home.

lala 03-16-05 09:02 AM

It rocked! No wind, clear skies, low 20s. I had plenty of layers this time: ended up perfectly dressed.

Tree Trunk 03-16-05 09:03 AM

Cute blonde whooped at me as she passed by. She rolled down her window at the next light and talked to me a little. I asked her if she couldn't resist a man in tights. A little ego boost for me -- I'm not all that much to get excited about! Nice start to the commuting season for me as yesterday was my first commute of the year.

EnigManiac 03-16-05 09:09 AM

A nice bright sunny morning (-6c, -10c with windchill) and very pleasant. The bike lanes were still clogged with thick ice or cars that couldn't park against the curb, but it is warming up steadily and all that should be gone in about a week. Rode the chopper to work and it was a nice smooth ride...except I heard a strange noise from the rear and will have to investigate before I head for home.

I drive to work about once a month. Today was one of those days. I had to fill-er-up, and was shocked--since when does a Honda Accord (an OLD one) take $30 in gas? Luckily I don't fill up too often. The traffic was bad and I was stuck in it, and then I couldn't find a parking space...all this because I bought a couple of lamps yesterday and can't get them home on my bike! What a drag. Tomorrow I'm biking.

angel 03-16-05 11:27 AM

i am just responding so i can crab about wiping out on ice.
i ripped not only my fancy work dress pants (i have so few of them that actually are appropriate for work and i can bike in them), but also my favorite pair of long underwear got a hole in them because an ice chunk when through and cut me down to my knee cap:(. that will heal, but new long undies are in order.
my right knee didn't get any blood shed, but it hurts worse!
silly ice under freshly fallen snow on 10th and main! so pretty out, but hidden ice.

angel 03-16-05 11:29 AM

they said my message was too short, but there is nothing else to say besides i am happy no cars were around. i did make it to work. my boss thinks i am a freak for biking in the winter. it is a public service i don't drive.

super-douper 03-16-05 11:58 AM

great weather again today (don't mean to brag, just glad spring is here!)

woke up late so only took the 5mile route.

Biking makes you notice things you never would if you were in a car. In San Jose people pile their yard clippings and such in the street and the city comes by and picks it up. Today I saw a pile of yard clippings with a cardboard sign on it that said "FREE". I thought about taking them, but they wouldn't fit in my trunk bag. :)

I also say a dude mowing his lawn with a cast on one foot and crutches. Push lawnmower 6 inches, hobble 6 inches, rinse repeat. That's going to take him all day. If I had a broken leg and the lawn needed to be mowed, I'd find some way to trick my friends into doing it while I drink a beer and "supervise".

anyway, was a good ride....counting the minutes 'til quittin time.

bikebuddha 03-16-05 04:22 PM

Cold and wet, but I still made good time. :P

EarlT 03-16-05 05:33 PM

Slow, windy, cold, hip still a bit sore, excellent ride !!
Glad i didn't wait another moment to get back on the bike.
Felt so good on test ride this morning, i decided to switch lights over to fixed gear for ride today - glad i did. 12 miles of Zen-like riding.
Enjoy and be safe.

Hey it makes up for the crazy drivers and keeps us motivated. Yesterday's whoop from that guy made me feel better. Good think my husband wasn't in that line of traffic ;)

ollo_ollo 03-16-05 09:57 PM

Unusually windy yesterday & today, had trouble staying above 15mph with the headwind. I began posting my miles on bikejournal.com last week. Bike Forums has a team & in just 1 week we have moved from 33rd to 27th place.

spidercyclist 03-17-05 12:07 AM

Good ride to work and home ,but still cold & alot of mud . But still a good ride .Have a good nite .

ridealot 03-17-05 06:19 AM

Got lucky and the wind switched directions on the way home so I had th wind at my back. Great ride home, warm and traffic was near non-existant.

Ride in was slow, felt a little sluggish for some reason. High tempature today is supposed to get to 54F. WOOT!

SaskCyclist 03-17-05 07:50 AM

40K headwind on the ride home last night and a 40K tailwind this am. It's all good. Temp is -10C with some light snow. Spring can arrive any day now.....have a great day!

Map tester 03-17-05 08:20 AM

Light rain and cooler than yesterday (37°F). Going to have to order some rain booties if this keeps up. Happy trails!

RicardoJM 03-17-05 08:25 AM

Big tail wind this morning, the kind where you feel no air in the face when you moving at 20 mph. The temps were in the mid 30s and I saw three other people out on bikes this monring. One of them works here at my company, on another end of the campus. It is a great day to be riding.

Identical riding here in S'toon.
Took a slow-motion fall due to ice ruts under the snow that I didn't see. The smoothest fall I've ever had. I think if anyone had seen it, it would have looked like I just decided to take a rest & lie down for a while :)

About 2/3 into my ride I heard a "ting" sound. Thought my rear derailuer nocked a pice of ice... turned out to be a broken spoke :( Wheel got progressively worse. By the time I got to work it was rubbing on the fender through about 1/3 of a revolution... don't want to risk further damage by riding it home.

I don't have a spoke wrench or extra spoke with me, so I'll try to courier my wheel to the LBS & have them fix it & send it back for the ride home... we'll see if they pass the test :)

lala 03-17-05 12:04 PM

Nice conditions today, but I was weak. Temp 35 degress little to no wind. Riding the 12 spd. Looking forward to the ride home, hoping for winds from the south.
