On the way to work I got passed by a scooter with driver and passenger just before getting to the light at the intersection onto the highway by-pass. Passed them early on the down-hill run and they didn't catch me again until we got to the bottom of the hill. Passed me at over 60 K/h, Ding-Dang speeders, it's a 50 K/h zone. ;) :D 64 F, wind out of the ESE at 9 mph, mostly cloudy. On the way home it was 73 F, with wind out of the E at 16 mph and overcast. Had to stop twice on the way home. The first time for an ambulance coming up behind me that turned off before he got to me. The second time I was blowing down the road when I saw five early teens on the sidewalk with four cruiser bikes, one of which was upside down. Had to go on down the road a bit to a driveway because of the curb and when I got back to them they had fixed whatever the problem was and were getting mounted up again. Just before I got home I checked the computer for the total mileage for the week. 117.something, a lap around the neighborhood gave me 120 just as I pulled up to the house. :D

Good ride home this morning (1 am). Expected rain never materialized and wind not a factor at all. Quite a nice surprise considering forcast (rain) and observation from about an hour before ride (15-20 kn wind right on nose).
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND !!!:) |

"good", "medium" and "slow" times are at 5 or 6 different points along the route and push it pretty hard. But man, when I'm sore or missed a day or just not feeling up to it -- Leaving the clock off and just riding for kicks can really be a great re-motivating elixir. Riding today was indeed great here in the South Bay. Beautiful entry to the weekend. I got up early this morning and gave my chain / cogs some Simple Green lovin' to get off the road gunk from the rain. I was rewarded with an easy 2 mph boost :D Weekend task: try to find a Jamis Aurora or Nova somewhere in the area for a testride. Pretty sure I want this bike but I would really like to ride one before commiting..... |
Friday morning it had rained all night but stopped just before I left for work. Rode in on very wet streets but no rain. Big fluffy white clouds/blue sky & sun breaks with dry pavement for the remainder of the day. My lunch commute was interrupted by a 5 minute hailstorm, then the sun came back! Definitely Springtime now. Grandkids are coming this weekend so I'll have to go out early if I want any riding. Have a great weekend.

Frustrating ride to work. Had flat tire, tried to fix flat tire, blew spare tire. Had to walk a mile and 1/2 to work. Got their on time. Tried to fix the flat again at work and another flat. Had to call for a ride home after spending 15 hours at work. What a day.

Thursday was the day our front yard became completely free of snow. Friday I rode my hybrid with slicks for the first time since December. I had forgotten how tall I feel on that bike, and how fast it goes, and how easily I spin. Here's to my faithful Little Pony, Flora. What a wonderful commute.

Painful.

Commuted five straight days last week (last week of March to first day of April). Today is Daylight Saving Time in California!!! No more lights for commuting until Fall!!

This morning's commute was wet. Rained on me all the way in. Bike computer thermometer was hovering just above freezing, too. Fortunately nothing froze.

Good morning: I was gonna post that I no longer need lights for commuting until I saw my AM ride. With the time change I now need 'em for the morn. great ride but wish we had this weather on the weekend. Gonna be near 70F/20C, sun, light wind. We had torrential rain and very high winds on Sat & Sun. Got my taxes done tho'

44 F / 7 C here in the Washington, DC area. It really looks and feels like Spring! I took the studs off last week, but fitted the trailer for bringing my daughter back from school. Today, my wife is back from her travel, so the trailer is off. Wonderful quiet, easy ride.

But for some trail construction that forced me through some mud it was a great commute. Looking forward to the warm weather this afternoon!

It is a great day to be out on the bike. This morning the temps were in the mid 40s and the slight wind was at my back. There were 8 others out on bikes this morning. Today is the season opener for our baseball team, it has been over ten years since I have been able to make it to opening day. My Dad and I will be leaving work a little early to get on down and catch the game. They are saying the weather will be fantastic, with temps in the 70s and plenty of sunshine.
|
Though the weather is just now reaching acceptable levels of precipitation and temperature, I fear that DST will hold back my morning commutes until I get a light rigged up to my bike. Argh, it's just one thing after another...
|
Wow, great day in St Louis. Spring has sprung. Time change didn't even bother me. Probably will reach 70's today. Great day for the NCAA finals! Go Illini!!!
|
A little darker than usual. Someone changed all my clocks. :p
Cooler than last week with no wind and sunny. :) No problems other than it should be a holiday so I can go riding later today -- around 1 pm. :D |
Ugh!! It rained on the way in which I did not expect; therefore, I got soaked. This put in a bad mood first thing in the morning. I really thought that it was just foggy; this time of year we get a lot of fog in So. California by the Coast.

My new Open Pros arrived last week (thank you Nashbar coupon!) and the commuter wasn't ready yet but I was dying to try them out. So I slapped on a cassette and some tires and put them on the racer. Man, what a nice set of wheels! Not light or fancy looking, just classic silver, rock solid quality.
And a gorgeous day for a ride. It poured last night so the air was cold and super clear. Stupid work! I need to be out riding, not sitting at a desk. |
it's really quite nice out; i'm glad i rode my bike today. yes i am.
|
Man, what a great ride in this morning (except the fact that I'm back using my lights in the morning because of DST). Clear skys, upper 40's this morning and they say we might hit 70 today (average high is 50F)! I took the long way in, I'm going to explore on my lunch break and take the long way home after work. Spring has sprung!

First commute for a while today (have been out of country for a few weeks). I got about 5 miles into my 12 mile commute, and realized that I'd left all my travel expense receipts (my only reason for needing to go to the office today) at home. Bugger! Turned around, rode home, then rode to work again. At least I had time for the miles today....
Stinking head wind on the way to work this morning made for slow going, but of course gave me a fantastic push on the way home! |
First commute since last........ October? I think. Anyway got in some new wind blocker tights (super Nashbar sale & discount) as well as some knee warmers. At 30F this morning and calm, it was just enough. 50ish this afternoon, nice. Marshmellow legs & sore bottom. Will probably go again tommorrow as it's going to be a high of 42F Wednesday & Thursday. No head light needed today just a rear flasher for country commuting.
|
Good ride in. Quiet and calm on the roads today, no wind and a tempature of about 44F. The ride home is looking nice with warmer temps.

What a difference since last weeks commute - Colder and darker!!! 32 Degrees out when I left at 6:30 this morning.
I decided with DST and riding into the rising sun, to get off the super smooth fast & easily graded 2 line highway busy highway and instead take some back roads that are extremely hilly and rough & bumpy (The highly trafficked highway follows a nice valley). Although my cutoff was shorter, it was much harder with the hills, but well worth it- Once the sounds of the highway faded I could hear a woodpecker working a tree as well as streams rushing along the road. The best part is that I arrived alive, as I saw only one car over this 3 mile cutoff rather than being passed by 180 that are all driving into sun glare on the highway.. Have an awesome day!!!! |
Beutiful day today, a light headwind, with temps in the 50's. Stopped and voted and received a few odd stares at my bike gear. Looking forward to a nice ride home.
