It was about 32 degrees warmer than it was two days ago. (That is: It was 32F degrees this morning.)

I've noticed my Schwalbe Ice Spiker studs are beginning to wear. I could get the front tire to skid a little on ice. Now the question is: Do I buy a Hakka now, or wait 'til next season?

At any rate, it was a nice ride in. Huge volumes of water rushing through the mouth of the Winooski River and into Lake Champlain. All that rain we had yesterday...

Had a nice cool (low 30's) ride in this morning. Didn't ride in yesterday due to high winds (40-50mph) and some rain. Lots of traffic out and about but I just took it easy and enjoyed the views of the sun rising. I think my bike computer might be off a little bit with my tire circumference. My trips in seem to be a little longer this year after I reset the computer. Gotta fix that soon.

Jumped on my bike and headed home from work around ten pm with a huge tail wind and the roads were fine till I hit a long section of black ice which was an eye opener but I made no fast moves just mirco adjustments in steering and cruised out of it

Plenty of patches of black ice today, especially near my house. Ride gingerly! Then I came upon the murder scene...ain't city livin' great!? Had to take a detour because the cops roped off an entire block, and the garbage men were taking up the alleyway. Other than that, no surprises.

Not cold. Snow cleared off the roads pretty good. No maniacal dump truck drivers. No dogs chasing me. Perfect.

Wheeeee! 20-30mph S tailwind in AM. Supposed to lay and switch to N by late PM, win both ways.

Yesterday was my first commute since October (when I broke a rib, then got lazy). Dark, drizzley, cold, great to be back.

I've had exercise-induced athsma for years. My doc didn't schedule scans or anything more aggressive than good ol' ventalin inhalers. I avoid the use of the inhaler at all costs, since I find that I can become dependent on it. Instead, if I ever start not being able to breathe, I slug back some DM decongestant with an expectorant in it. The booze in the medicine relaxes me [not as well as a nice Petit Verdot], the DM reduces the tendency to cough, and the decongestant and expectorant help clear out the lungs. It might be even more effective than the inhaler, since I can't inhale properly.

The ride in today was completely normal. I tailed a Benz all the way in to downtown, pedalling my little legs off. SS is good for the spin...

No bike commute today. The Wonder Twins' have a trial day at daycare today and being a good 21st C. dad, I helped get them ready for the day. Lucky for me that I married an extremely organized woman and there wasn't much for me to do other than put on the kids' shoes and load them in the minivan.

I thought of throwing the bike in the back so I could ride at lunch, but no sense in complicating things further.

Pretty decent this morning, WONDERFUL 27*F clear blue sunny day heading down to Subway to pick up a sandwich for lunch.

A nice change, yesterday was 28*F with wet, sloppy snow falling and unplowed roads hiding potholes in the morning, and 17*F in the PM with a 15MPH headwind and the last mile before home still wasn't plowed and was covered in half-packed slush crud; I've never fishtailed all the way up a hill before.

Getting back in the saddle after a day like yesterday can be a challenge, it's nice when the weather hands you a reward for doing so.

Another lovely morning ride in. I felt a bit more sluggish than usual, but hey, it's just three miles. And it's not a race, so I had a lovely time, as usual.

Had to ride in today. It was 50 F this morning with little wind. Rain or snow tomorrow. So today was the day to go. I left a little early so took a little longer route to get to work.

I am looking forward to getting my cat eye DL 1000 from performance.com

bummer. just doesn't seem right that cycling should end up being "bad" for you. Hope you get this straightened out.

my commute was, how can I say it... "plodding". yeah, "plodding"... kind of lopey-dopey, lopey-dopey, lopey-dopey all the way home. hey, but I did it. now I need a nap.

The mornings commute was good. It was a bit cool and I made it to the office in about 10 minutes.

I am going to bang in sick tomorrow so my commuting for the week is over. I was 3 for 3 this week, and am now 12 for 12 for the year.

Ride home felt faster than usual. But cuz I forgot to look at my computer this morning, I can't verify it. Oh well, at least I felt fast.

what a difference! re-entred my 1987 performance vitesse i got from cyber-cyclery 10 years ago, threw new tires (700x23, punture resist BN, 100psi, road). it hummed both ways today (compaired to mb tank), apples to oranges! had a cop pass me, swing into parking-lot, watch me pass, then pass me again (closer) tonite on the way home (must have been all the lights = 5 total including headlight). i am a roadie by choice!

This morning was the first time that I laid my road bike down on it's side--hit a patch of ice and down I went--left side. The pedal is scratched to he|| and the left STI shifter was rotated inward, but other than that, ... No road rash for me. It's 30F and I'm covered with plenty of polypro-nylon-spandex-neoprene techware.

I had my nearly get hit and die moment of the week this morning. I got a little bit of a late start so I was pushing myself at a pretty good clip down my favorite four-lane road. As I approach my left hand turn, I take the lane, signal, look back, and move into the left hand lane. Then as the turning lane is about to begin, I take the lane, signal, look back, and just as I'm crossing the line into the turning lane a red civic behind me guns its engine and pulls into the turning lane nearly running me over. After I recovered from the shock I pulled in behind her and just shook my head, although I'm not sure she could see me through the large "Nopi Chic" stencil on her rear window. The best part is that after the turn, the civic went all of 100 feet down the road before turning into a building.

You should have pulled up next to the building and yelled something nice to her...
Yesterday a lady in a brand new volvo almost steamrolled over me ... lucky for me, she got stuck at the next red light, so I slowly pulled up next to her and I told her to SLOW DOWN LADY .. as I rode by!!

So, today it rained in the early AM, I went out just after and I managed to get my shorts all wet as usual... no mud guards yet ! LOL

It still took me exactly 30 minutes to make it to work which is ok considering that I spent 2 hours at the velodrome yesterday after work so I was kind of worn out...

Average Speed: 60/30*7.5 = 15 mph.

Nice ride in until a car turned out in front of me and stopped because of traffic blocking the right shoulder of the road that I ride on. She must not have seen me at all or cared because she just blocked the shoulder and I was forced to go around her on the left and cut back to the right side in front of her almost hitting a mustang that slammed on it's brakes. I missed hitting the back of the stang by inches. The sun was almost up and I had my front LED blinkie going so I don't know how the woman missed me. Other than that I had a nice slow ride in this morning. Passed some people running and walking on the golf course I cut through. High 60's for the way home, can't wait for that...TGIF!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my ride in today. I worked the pedals nicely and felt great. Breezey, but not so much as earlier in the week. 50F in Cleveland! Crazy. I'm waiting for the Russian cold front to get here! Can it? Probably not.

Too much sweat today. I thought I had my clothing all set this winter. But, 50 to 55 is weird. One tee shirt isn't enough, but one under a thin sweatshirt is too much. I don't get it!!!

Great ride in this morning, just above freezing with a tailwind. Its Winter Bike to Work Day here, so I stopped by Daley Plaza for cheesecake and picked up some more bike maps of the Chicago area. I hope the forcasted rain/snow holds off until I get home. Walter.
