great rides today! on return home, had to pull under old theatre ticket-booth to put on gore-tex pant cover but should have put on booties (shoes got too wet) as well. riding in the rain, with the right gear, is great, as is riding when it is cold, warm. i'm not big coursing through heavy wind though. traffic seemed more sane today,
more "predictable"!

The ride today was great!! Temps in the 70s, high 70s, some wind but the ride was beautiful.

great ride in this morning. less wind than earlier in the week and another 5 degrees warmer- up to 30F+ on the way home. the bike path is quiet these days- that will change soon. This morning there was a guy walking down the path with a half gallon of milk and smoking a big fat joint- a rare sight. About 5 miles later some kid riding a bike hands free rolling towards me and he, too, was smoking a joint. Each person I saw on the path this morning said, "Good morning!" as I went by them. Saw some rabbits at the section I call "Watership Down". Interesting day.

Cold !

Fast ride this morning, I broke out the Lemond . My Cannondale beater/commuter has a mechanically challenge RD. Damn thing was skipping gears up hill during my commute home last night. This allowed someone to pass me...noone ever passes me . This weekend I'll take the beater out back and beat it....ahem clean and tune it.

It's suppose to be windy for the ride home so this was the major reason I un-cuffed the Lemond from the trainer. Skipping gears is one thing, but into the wind, up hill is another .

A New World Record! (for me, anyway). 51:23, 14.95 miles. 32F, decent tailwind. Along the way I caught drafts from two trucks and an unusual number of green lights. It was a great commute.

Well after dealing with 20+ mph headwinds on the ride home last night the winds decided to shift overnight so I am riding into them again this morning. Luckily they weren't as strong but it could have been better. I am sure they will shift today and I will have at least a nice crosswind for the ride home. Not nearly as warm today, low 40s this morning and only getting into the mid 50s. It is sunny though and it's Friday so I am going to add a few miles on to my ride home this afternoon

Great commute this morning, mid to upper 30s and sunny. I put new wheels on my bike (Suzue ProMax hubs, Mavic Open Pro rims), and they are so ridiculously smooth that pedaling was almost effortless. A nice tailwind most of the way didn't hurt, either.

Brilliantly bright blue sky, but two annoying drivers to deal with. The first tried to pull up next to me at a stop light, in his huge F250 with dualies. Ended up halfway in the other lane (4 lane road) and then almost ran into me as he pulled away at the green light. The other was a cement mixer that did the stalking thing for most of a mile until my turn off. Why he wouldn't change lanes is beyond me.

Wednesday and Thursday were nice (a bit of snow falling at lunch yesterday), and not far below freezing.

This morning was colder again, at -12C/10F, but the sun is shining today, which made for a nice ride.

Sunny and crisp about 24F. Only problem was the Manhattan Bridge, which was covered in ice from the midpoint into Manhattan. Was warned by another commuter coming from the opposite way. Should have put on the knobbies this morning. Took it real slow. Otherwise the streets were dry.

The soft fluffy snow just keeps falling! The roads are surprisingly good, but I'll be happy to get a break from what isn't exactly fun riding and hit the slopes this weekend.

Warm and thunderstorms this morning but no complaints here. I even took the long way in to get some extra miles. I did almost get taken out by a duck that was frightened or disoriented by a really loud thunder clap as he was coming in for a landing on the park lake that I skirt. I saw him coming and had just enough time to...well...duck. He tried to veer around me as he passed a couple of inches above my helment. He was quacking all the way through his resulting clumsy landing. I think that I have officially now been cussed out in duck.

I came in late today, after taking a long detour for mental hygeine. The sky the color of platinum, the river the color of chocolate.

I rode the fixie again. I'm beginning to wonder why I ever needed gears.

Home in one piece, Mother Nature did her best to hold me back (22mph wind gusts) but the lighter bike, compact crackset and bladed spokes helped power right through her. Leaving my beater at home today was the best thing I could have done.

No commute today I had a flat and I aready used my spare this week. Well, tommorw I am getting some tire liners, because any little piece of glass will puncture the tube. All my flats are from glass I can tell. And I am getting some 1' rise bars for my MTB, so it's flat bar will go onto my Suteki, making it a Hybrid! A hybrid will be much better for my commute because I have to carry a heavy schoolbag and P.E. bag on my side.

took consumer-client-patient-customer-individuals with persistant mental illness to the gym today, got more of a "work-out" on the 'ecliptical' machine there than commute. went to the gym once (1x) this week, commuted every work day (took tues off) = more long term consistant benefits (hopefully).

Yes, Yes! on the use of tire liners. An old tube with the air valve cut off will do fine until you get some. Mr. Tuffy are great, reasonably priced and available at any LBS. They're in my commuter mtb and I haven't had a puncture in over 2 years(replaced tires once). I have a 10.5 mile route through a variety of traffic situations. Routine mileage is between 60-120 mpwk depending on work schedule.

Late 80's Fuji hardtail w/Niterider 2.0 trailrat and universal taillight, Jandd saddlebags, single Shimano 46t chainwheel and cranks(modified touring triple) w/28x11 cassette on Weinman 519's, Wellgo clipless, Wal-mart(Yes, wal-mart!) 1.95 knobbies...nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. Stock shifter/brake levers(Alivio) w/STX rear der.

Oh yeah, my commute...it was great today. Low 30's am and low 50's pm. Cloudy, low wind. Had to hollar at a busdriver this morning who cut me off and my chain fell off this afternoon, but otherwise great. Mashed most of the way home. Since getting the liners I never think about getting flats, anymore.

No commute today but a great ride this morning, ran to the gym to do some weights, then to the bagel shop for a snack, and finally to the library to return some books. It was cool but not cold and I took my time and enjoyed the weather.

A little windy this morning, but still nice and only one near death experience.

Y'know that feeling like you don't want to do anything but crawl back into bed and stay there a few more hours? That's the feeling I had all morning. Ride was fine, but I still kept thinking about sleep. Off to get some coffee.

Lazy ride today, legs felt flat! I cleaned and tuned my commuter, so it felt good. I even trued the rear wheel but I think I may have closed the rear caliper too much, felt like it was dragging. I'll have check things out for the ride home.

Rode in with my wife today. It's always fun to kiss goodbye in the middle of the road.
