Back on the bike this morning after missing Friday and Monday due to picking up and taking my brother back to Camp Lejeune. He, a marine, just got back from Iraq and came up to visit over the weekend. It was nice to have him back after 7 months over there.

Had a nice ride in this morning. Temps in the mid 40s so I wore some light pants and was warm enough. Made pretty good time and I was happy to be back on my road bike after getting a flat last week. Temps should be close to 70 for the way home tonight

A Great Ride!! 15 miles, on my newly built Biach Brava ($5 at a garage sale), took me 16 David Byrne songs on my i-pod, to get to work. Beautiful day. a Crisp spring morning, and only 1 car tried to cut me off, right in front of 2 cops (not that they did anything). I had to tell her to put her crack pipe away and drive! I swear, she started to pass me 20 feet before the intersection, and then actually started to turn before I screamed at her...LOTS of profanity!!!

Other than that, a great ride.

Great ride this morning. Light traffic for some reason. Is it a holiday?

The ride home will be different. I get a massage every 3-4 weeks. I have an appointment today after work.
Usually I drive to these appointments but the weather has been awesome, so.....
I hope my leg muscles aren't toooooo relaxed afterward. I'll still have ~4 miles to ride.

Some lady decided it would be funny to run me over. Thankfully for her she missed by about 1 inch. I could have scratched her beautiful black suv up. People who see people and have no lack of care really upset me

Great commute both ways today. It was also my last day of classes as a college student; I'm graduating at the end of the month, after I get through final exams. No better way to celebrate it than a great commute and a beautiful day.

I leave in ~30 minutes. Pray for me.

Got my first flat tire today. I've been commuting for two weeks now. My rear tire was cut by a small rock. I'm thinking that I need better tires or tire liners... I was really glad that I had the necessary tools (tire levers, spare inner tube, pump) to change the tube on side of the road though

During my ride to work this morning I saw a peacock. That is a strange sight for an urban setting. It was a nice day for riding.

still spinning safe here! commute distances amping w/ better weather!

'bike-to-work' week/day is approaching and our team psychiatrist (for consumer's, not team members!) suggested at last x-mas party that all team 'players' would commute to work, those who didn't (or could not) would treat riders to lunch. i encouraged that, of course, others followed in enthusiasm !

we'll see what really unfolds; will give all support needed for all follow-through!

TG: Glad you're ok and the woman's got bad aim.
jumpr: Congrats!

Ride home included a detour to the bank. Otherwise it was uneventful. Then I went to CP to practice trackstanding. I need more practice. First ride in shorts this year and it felt good!

Thirty degrees when I left at 4:30 this morning; 70 when I started home at 3. Bundled up on the way in, shorts and T shirt coming home. It's GREAT to be back on the bike after laying off all through March because of daily Grand Jury duty, in addition to work before and after each day, leaving no time for a bike commute, so I had to drive. I'll have to drive tomorrow, too, as I have an early appointment to interview a man so that I can write an article in a local newspaper touting his business.

A big welcome home to your brother! I hope he's home for good and can get some rest and time with his family.

My ride was a delight today. A long day that started with a ride in at 7:45am and a ride home at 9:15pm but without a doubt the bike rides were the best part of the day. Had to sprint from downtown Boston over to BU and then back downtown again mid-day but it was nice to get in the extra workout. It was a relief to have so little wind tonight after getting blown about all weekend on the bike.

Another pleasant ride this morning. I could see my breath when I left, but it had warmed up significantly when I arrived, just 20 minutes later. The sunrise makes a big difference! I can't wait until I get my new tires on... they shipped yesterday and I hope the USPS doesn't drag its feet too much.

I also got to use my 115dB electric horn today... on a pair of jay-walking ducks! I figure I did them a favour, since a bunch of cars were right on my tail.

Hmmm, I also really need to clean my chain. It's rather mucky right now and I'm sure it's slowing me down...

Thanks for the kind words buzzman He is home until next March when he gets deployed again. Most likely back to Iraq but there is a chance he could be going over to Japan which is where he wants to go. My parents are coming down this weekend to get him so he can spend some time at home.

Had a nice ride in this morning. Didn't want to get out of bed but I made good time in after leaving late. Lots of traffic out there but I did see a few other commuters, more than usual. Higher gas prices and warmer temps are bringing out the bikes. I think this summer when prices are sky high more and more people will be riding bikes

Sunny. Mid 40Fs. Light tailwind. Not enough to make much of a difference.

I chased down a little city tractor thing (not sure how to describe it) and we were cruising down the street at the speed limit of 20MPH. This amused me for some reason.

It's beginning to be that time of year. The trail hotties are re-appearing.

Beautiful rides yesterday and today here. 5C yesterday morning; 18C for the ride home; 7C in this morning. Decided I needed the gloves and jacket yesterday on the way in, but was comfortable in just shorts and t-shirt this morning.

It was also good to be riding again after being out of town for two weeks (although I'd rather not be at work with the weather so nice...).

Road in with a nice tail wind and 68 degrees under a bright moon. Saw a momma with three baby raccoons crossing the road just ahead of me. The cubs stopped at the curb to watch me ride by before momma came back to get them going again.

No commute today cuz I'm leaving for a trip, but I did take a ride to my car 3 blocks away to pack some in the trunk. And I'm bringing my bike w/ me!

Number of oddities on the ride this morning. First, windy (~13MPH when I left, said weather.com) which is odd in the mornings, or at least I think it's odd in the mornings. Then, wind was from NNE instead of typical S/SE (cold front moved through last night) so was in my face for half the ride in. I think I like it in my face in the morning better than the evening. Had to stop 2 miles in to try to adjust my backup light bracket, which I loosened to move down the bar slightly, and which apparently didn't get tight enough. No luck - need to wrap some tube in there to make it fit the bar better, so slipped the light in my pocket and moved on again. Then, saw another cyclist ahead (never happens!) - or rather, saw his blinkie. Had to stop for a school bus, and by the time I saw him again he was diverting from my path, so no idea if he was commuting or just out for a morning ride. Then, around mile 10 I noticed the bike was feeling a bit "bouncy" as I climbed up a small hill. Looked down at the back tire, and sure enough it was going flat. Great! Pulled up a nice piece of lawn in front of a million dollar estate and ate a pria bar while I casually changed the tire. Leak seemed to be from the inside (rim side) of the tube, and it seems that my rim strip had slipped/rolled a bit and an edge of the hole that the spoke nipple goes in (what's that called, anyway?) was exposed. Covered the rim strip with a glueless patch at that spot to hopefully insure that it wouldn't happen again and changed the tube. A couple roadies out for a morning ride took the time to make sure I had what I needed as they rode by - if you're reading, thanks, I appreciate it! Finished the change and was back on my way into the (now stronger) wind. Finished the rest of the trip with no adventures, saw another cyclist a couple miles up the road. I don't think I've seen a single other cyclist in the morning in 3 months of commuting ('cept some kids at the park earlier this week) and today I saw 4... It is definitely spring (okay, already summer here in N Texas...)

Have a great day, all!

Did a road ride last night and, for some strange reason, could not sleep. I had to drag myself out of bed this morning with a mighty groan and some wincing. I'm only doing a half day today, as I'm meeting a friend from out of town this afternoon.

ctoddrun: That's great that you found the rim tape cause. I had that problem myself one very long day when I was trying to do a solo century but had to call my wife at 72 miles after my third flat of the day. I was ready to tear my hair out.

Today was just gorgeous.

I'm tempted to send an office-wide email offering to help out any cyclo-commute-curious co-workers. Maybe a better option would be to let them come to me.

It was great. Today was Bike to Work and School Day and the city set up several locations with coffee, bagels, orange juice and a t-shirt. Stopped by on the way to work and enjoyed the scene and munchies.
Took the fixed gear today after a too long break from it.
