Legs of lead this morning.
Had to sit on the couch nursing a cup o coffee for quite a while to talk myself into coming to work today.
I think riding the bike turned out to be my inspiration in the end.
Boy is the office lucky I cyclomute or I'd be flopped on the couch watching TV all day
Rode downhill all day yesterday. Ride the ski lift up then bomb down the trails. That sport flat beats the tar out of ya. I'm going to have to build up a nice cushy bike for bombing the down hills. This old bod is not able to take the abuse like it used to. {Maybe an excuse to build another bike }
The ride was nice... slow but nice.

Did not ride in today. My wife is temporarily assigned to my same building and with getting the kids to daycare and whatnot, it made more sense for all of us to come downtown in the minivan. Just as well, I guess. My legs are pretty dead from some hard riding over the weekend.

High 70Fs this morning, but not horribly humid. I also had a mild headwind to help with the cooling. This afternoon is going to be, well, uncomfortable. It's already 87 (lunch time) and the dewpoint is up around 70. The sun is blazing.
We commuters are a whiney lot. "It's cold! It's snowing! It's raining! It's hot! Waaah!"

I went in an hour earlier than usual this morning. It was nice because it was nowhere near hot at the time. It is quite hot now, but I don't really mind that either. I nearly ran over my wife this morning on the MUP. She and her friend were walking and she wouldn't move! I wimped out at lunch time but promised myself to make up for it after work.

Great ride in, not too hot yet. But it's 95 out there now, and supposed to be 108°. Whew! Good thing I sweat mostly on the way home. I shouldn't complain, the majority of my ride home is shaded by trees in the park.....
It's the human condition; I bet the car commuters are whining about the traffic, the high cost of gasoline, and burning their back sides when they sit down on their car seats. At least we're healthy whiners!

At least we've earned our whines. If I hear one more co-worker complain about how hot they got, walking 30 feet from their car to the workplace, I might commit random acts of mayhem!

It was 80° when I came to work at 5:30 am. It was 98° at 3 pm, with the heat index at 110°. It will be hotter when I go home in 75 minutes.
Shade? Whatz dat? Lots of water makes it all possible.

Ride in this morning was 74 degrees; normally it's low- to mid-50s. Humidity was above 90%, too. I was drenched when I got to work.
Ride home was 94 degrees and as close to 100% humidity you can get without actually having precipitation. I figured I was heading home so doing the stoplight sprint thing would be OK. Sucking in hot air is not fun in my book. Well, ok, a little.
Tonight we have massive thunderstorms and winds up to 75mph pushing through. Hopefully, it'll be dry by tomorrow morning again. Oh, and the tires, fenders and rack/trunk shipped today. So, hopefully, no more sweaty back when I get to work after that.

Ride home was hot. I wouldn't have minded if it was just heat from the sun, but added to the mix was heat radiating off the blacktop and heat radiating off cars and from the bus exhausts that are right at body level. And as soon as I got off my bike, the sweat caught up and I was dripping. And it's only Monday.

Hot. In fact, I think this is supposed to be the hottest day of the year so far. Got to vote, went to the wrong polling place by accident and had to backtrack which didn't help. But I did vote and I rode my bike, I'm very patriotic today.

Yesterday afternoon I saw 97 on my cyclocomputer. It was fine unless I dropped below 15MPH, and then I could feel the heat. So I kept going fast. When I got home, I became good and uncomfortable.
I didn't get to bed until after midnight last night (had my "dual night" flight instruction!) and so I was tired this morning. I still made okay time. It was warm and somewhat humid.
Supposed to cool off later today. I hope.

I really need to learn to slow down. My plan is to tool into work so I don't get too sweaty, but that never seems to work. There's usually a couple of spots where I need to pick up the pace, but once I'm up to speed I just keep rolling.
It's suppose to Thunder Storm later, so that's my excuse for not riding after work today

Unventful ride in this morning. Warm again and I was drenched by the time I got to work. Saw a couple of other cyclists out. Could reach 100 this afternoon which will be great for my soccer game tonight.

Another hot one in the deep south this morning. Only saw a few commuters. I wonder if the heat is causing many of the new "high gas prices" commuters to rethink the idea of commuting?
Some of them just don't know what they're doing. Last night as I was unlocking my bike at the supermarket a bike commuter pulled up to lock his bike. He was wearing jeans (not cut off) and a t-shirt. IMHO a sane and knowledgeable cyclist would not wear than combination in 93F heat.

A bit wet. Looks like it rained last night, and might again today. Maybe I should rethink getting some fenders.

It rained hard overnight, cooling the city off considerably. I was still able to ride in a t-shirt, but it's almost jacket weather. I forgot to switch my bike to 42x14 last night, so maybe I'll do that tonight.

Yesterday the wind was brewing up for huge tailwind...had it as a headwind on the way in. By the time I left the office it died off, not a puff of a breeze. Dang, i hate when that happens. A huge black nasty storm was rolling over the hills so I rode with much speed to beat it home. Good thing too, huge hail and rain for an hour once I got there. It was quite nasty.
This morning everything was nice and clean. Temp were nice and cool, most likely a result of the storm.
The GF donated me her Nano because she won the super duper video Ipod in a sales contest at work. [She rules!] It was nice to have tunes on the way in...Although I think I may have to nuke the Norah Jones off that thing Seems to have cut some time off the ride too. I ordered the I-ride speakers to mount on the bars. We'll see how those work out. Actually the ear buds didn't lessen my ability to hear the traffic behind. I think that they cut down the wind buffeting so much that they might actually improve ability to hear. Hmmm

Overslept and rode in a 1/2 hr. later than I usually do. Traffic wasn't too bad, and while it was hot, it's not too bad when I'm moving. Of course, once I stop, that's when the sweat starts pouring.
Saw Steve Harvey walking past my building before I left yesterday.
P.S. Norah Jones rulez!

I forgot to mention what happened on my ride home yesterday. It was in the 90Fs. I was on the MUP. I saw a couple of young boys ahead, each carrying super soakers. (High-volume water "guns" if you don't know.)
As I approached they said, "You want some?" I said, "Sure!"
So they let me have it. Funny. They were spraying other cyclists and runners, too. Everybody was smiling. Cool kids...
