Thick, thick fog this morning. Even with all my blinkies and reflector bands I don't think cars were seeing me. If it's that foggy again tomorrow, I'm going to have to take a more car-free route to work.

Another inch of the white snow today and forecast for 1-2 for the tomorrow am.
Today was fairly cold and windy.
Not much in the way of excitement.

This morning was what makes winter riding fun. My studded tires were silenced by the light layer of snow on the road so I didn't disturb the turkeys crossing the road, 2 flew right in front of me, which was a little disconcerting as these were big hens.

This evening was more of what makes winter riding hard. Lots of salt and slush, but at least I worked late so there weren't too many cars.

That evil and disgusting northerly wind was back this morning, with it's horrible habit of increasing temperatures and humidity. I swear, it even felt like the sun itself had extra intensity today. Here's hoping for some big spanky tropical downpours to come along and save us all.

Yet another beautiful golden sunset this evening. This working overtime isn't so bad after all!

Hi Folks,

First day back after returning from California. After enjoying temperatures of 25°C, sub zero bicycle commuting is something of a change
Also. I need to get into shape after eating all that christmas pudding

Happy new year to all,

Ed

It's been way too icy to commute up here. Maybe next week if the weather gets milder.

Lovely, the first time I've ever had to ride in snow (2 whole inches).

Nice snowfall this morning, and I remembered to bring my camera, but it froze in my pannier and wouldn't work. Next snow I'll remember to put it in my pocket. Lot's of deer and turkey tracks in the snow crossing the road. Lots of mom's in SUVs taking the kids to the bus stop. The traffic was so backed up from the school that it was actually easy for me to make the left turn into the practice parking lot.

Made my second commute of the year today. This afternoon it was unbelievably warm for St. Louis in January, hitting close to 70F. Back to sub-freezing by the weekend.

On both trips I've cleared that 6" curb that foiled me last week. I'd never make it in MTB racing

Big spanky headwind this morning, and it's still blowing. It's also overcast which is good. There were some promising black clouds hanging around Springbrook earlier, but alas they haven't arrived as yet.

Cold and beautiful this morning!

Also a chilly northeastern headwind

Cheers all,

Ed

A nice ride in this morning, +4 C (38 f), 15-20 mph headwind for half the trip made me work a little harder than usual, but dry roads made for a nice change.

Bikes: Mercier Corvus (commuter), Fila Taos (MTB), Trek 660(Got frame for free and put my LeMans Centurian components on it)

Had heavy fog this morning. Made the usually boring city scenery mysterious and exciting to bike through. My glasses would fog up about every 30 seconds or so which got annoying after a bit. It was really weird to have this kind of fog in the desert. Got to work with a good layer of dew all over my micro-fleece jersey, gave it a rather interesting sheen. For some reason traffic was really light. Hope I have enough battery left in my front light to get home tonight after that ride in!

Wet roads.. I just missed the morning rain. There is supposed to be rain today, so just in case, I packed my helmet light to try and get some extra visibility on the ride home tonight. I still feel out of shape from not riding in over a month.

Someone had bought me Starbucks coffee and had it waiting on my desk when I got into work this morning, so my day started off right

With this weather i can`t get enough of being outside!

Clear sky, cold (-6) and silent, excellent riding conditions,.
I thought about changing from normal to studded tires due the snowfall, but the roads are pretty clear and icefree here.

Even did some iceskating on the canals after my ride, my first weak steps on ice after 5 years, my shape is bad!!!

Today we had 3 more inches of snow, so i went skiing instead of biking.
Now I have 2 days off and perhaps the roads will be a bit better.

Good dose of rain on the way home. Using a helmet light in the rain was a good idea. The steeper angle really helps w/ lighting up the more reflective road. The 32 forward facing watts helped keep me visible.

Last night's ride home temp of +2 C (36 F), steady rain. Sounds miserable but I was quite comforatable. The bike jacket worked well at keeping my uppers dry, rain pants and galoshes kept the lowers dry, dry = warm.

A big change in the weather for this morning's ride in. Dry and -9 C (16 F) slight headwind, occasional ice patches in the gutter here and there. I managed to ride around them all.

My first commute in weeks went very well. With the holidays and ice and other commitments, I haven't been able to bike before now. It's driving me crazy because I bought a new bike right after Christmas and haven't had a chance to take it out and play with my new clipless pedals. I had to ride the old Schwinn to work because I'm afraid of traffic right now with the new bike. I hope I'll have time to practice this weekend on the new Trek!

It keeps getting better here in Maine. I woke up to 5" of new snow yesterday morning and then another 2" today. The shoulders had a light layer of snow. I was breaking tracking a lot, but it was a nice workout. And the best part is, just like yesteday, the sun was out by 11am and the temps are supposed to approach 32 F (0 C).

The only fly in the ointment this morning is that a young gal blew through an intersection and I almost ran into the side of her car. She was looking right at me and I am quite sure she saw me. I think she mis-judged my speed. Ah well...I stopped with more than 2 feet to spare.

Hi Folks,

The light dusting of snow has now gone, but it is still around freezing here. Plus I have had a northerly headwind on the way into work all this week. The wind is a pain, but I like the cold bright weather. More snow would be great .

Have a good weekend,

Ed

Heavy mist, occasionally turning into rain this morning. But very pleasant temperatures.

Not to me it doesn't. It's almost two years since our last significant rain.
