I use one from Lowes (under $15) and they have held up pretty well over the few years I have had them.

No pockets, and the velcro seemed to loose some of its sticking power sooner than I would have expected, but I'll just stitch some new velcro on if/when it becomes necessary. It's very comfortable and really shows up good in the dark. Folds flat and lays in my rack bag when I don't need it. I like the reflective X on the back. Just seems like it would get attention quicker than two straight lines.

I buy mine at Home Depot. They're sold in the tool department along with other safety gear. A basic vest with biggy reflective stripes is $9.99, a basic shirt is $19.99. Available in orange or limey-yellow. Other more expensive versions are there too. I had one for 3 years, only had to replace it because I ripped a big hole in it (almost torn in half, not worth stitching it back together).

I wear this one from Lowes; $14, ANSI Class 2, I can see it a block away with a bike headlight. Also, it has velcro closures and is big enough to go over a backpack.

Amphipod. They have several similar vests.

You can also get one for your dog!

I wear the types that road contruction or event parking lot workers wear. Lots of reflective area, I think they were each less than $20.

I got a FuelBelt vest, it was very visible, but the zipper isn't very durable. I used it for 6 months or so before it started getting hard to work the zipper from corrosion. I never used the rear pockets. I will probably replace it with something better. (Sorry I can't recommend anything better yet...)

Great front and back coverage, Back is shorter than front, light weight, mesh allows air to move freely thru, no flapping (for most part). I cut a slit in the back horizontal stripe and can hang a blinky from the back if I want.

I use a backpack occasionally. I have one of the 'slow moving object' triangles for the backpack. Wrap the strap around the base of the backpack and gets me noticed.

Thanks guys...I like the vests with the wider stripes, so it looks like there's a lot to choose from. I may venture out today for a couple last minute gifts if I feel up to it, so I'll swing by our local Dick's Sporting Goods (which started here with two little rink dink stores btw)and see what they have.

This past morning I was driving to work and saw a cute young lady running with a nicely reflective vest on in the dark. I almost stopped to ask her about it, but realized how creepy that would be! I probably would have gotten pepper sprayed before I got two words out.

To the OP: Try www.alertshirt.com. Great products at good prices because it bypasses the "it's for a bike" surcharge. I picked up the Ansi bomber jacket from them for like $40 to the door and the thing is almost too warm to wear. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of their stuff.
