Thanks, man. I updated my stats about twice a week. I am back on the bike, though up to now I've only been riding the stationary trainer and a couple of 20-30 mile rides on the weekends. My wife doesn't want me to go back to commuting for several reasons, but she said I was welcome to ride every morning before work if I wanted to. (what the difference is, I don't know!)

As soon as I get over this ear infection, I plan on riding 13-15 miles every morning I can. It will require me moving my work schedule back an hour, but hey, I need to ride, you know? :)

Just want to make sure I'm doing this right. Are people who are putting the total in parentheses using the first number (not in parentheses) to indicate weekly commuting mileage and the "total" number in parentheses to indicate yearly total? Not clever enough to figure out the protocol by following the example, I'm afraid.

It's my first year trying to commute through the winter and I am loving it! Got myself an old mountain bike that I've made into a winter commuter, studded tires being a confidence-building addition. I'm a teacher whose schedule varies a bit depending on the day. We work on an 8 day cycle, and 4 of those 8 days I have no first period class, meaning I don't have to be there and showered until 9:10. I can do my 24 mile (round trip) commute and shower at the gym if I leave by about 7:30 or 7:40. I could get up early and commute the other days, but that would mean missing breakfast with my family, and since that's sometimes our only meal together, I'm not willing to do it. Still, I find myself waking up early sometimes, and instead of saying, "Oh, damn. It's 5:30. I only have another 45 minutes to sleep.", I think, "Oh good! In just two hours, I'll be on my bike!"

Hoping to continue to produce miles to post. Happy and safe commuting to all!

Only got one day in this week since I found broken spokes after getting home. My wheel is now off to my mechanic for repair. Having only one bike sucks. :(

It's also my first winter of commuting and I already got into mechanical problems after only one day this year. But it was fun and challenging as the roads were quite varied from slushy to icy to snow covered rut.
