45F and gray. Breezy. Not nearly as breezy or wet as yesterday was, that was pretty wretched. My wife steered me straight to the shower when I got home to hose the road's worth of grit off my legs.
|
Today, I didn't want to stop. I was still in the midst of grinning ear to ear.

About 47 degrees, dark, and rainy. It was windy inbut I town but I rarely notice it in the mountains where my commute goes. It would have been a good day to try my new rain poncho from
J & G but I don't have the reflective tape installed yet so I sweated in the jacket. |
To be honest I don't really remember! Nothing out of the ordinary. I was tired. High 30s. A bit more traffic than usual because I left late.
|
Beautiful sunny morning because I got to leave late. Tailwind was nice for a change but was a headwind on the uphill portion. Made for a good workout. Going home will be 'fun' too with a headwind most all of the way back. Shouldn't have taken the single speed.

Great commutes today.
54F and partly cloudy with mainly cross/headwinds from the SW @ 8-12mph this afternoon on the commute in. My knees were actually hurting a little from what seemed like the boom being too short. I know I didn't adjust it closer in recently. I moved it out a little before I left campus and the knees felt great on the return trip. 43F and dark with mainly crosswinds from the S @ 9-11mph this evening on the commute home. For the first time in a while, someone actually asked if they could take my pic. At one of the stop lights, a few girls in a car asked if they could take a pic of me. Of course I said yes and then one commented how she loved my contraption. People usually take pics regardless, which doesn't bother me unless they're holding up traffic. Most of the time I can tell when someone does it at night cuz I can see the flash from their camera phones out of the corner of my eye. |
Chalupa, I was wondering if you'd gotten your derailleur fixed yet. Glad to see you're back in the saddle.
I get that too, the snapshots. Not so much on the regular commute - after almost two years they're used to me I guess - but any time I range out around the countryside. It gets almost funny doesn't it? |
Warm today, even in the AM for my ride to the office. First time in 2012, I think, that I didn't even use my fleece in the morning. Shorts and two tee shirts, one long sleeve, one short, and I was very comfortable. Nice tailwind on the way to work, but that meant a pretty strong headwind going to class in the afternoon. Supposed to be even warmer tomorrow.
A new pair of cycling gloves arrives tomorrow. Time to retire my current pair, now riddled with holes, after two years of daily use and about 7000 miles. Bittersweet. :-) |
First ride in a month or so. Totally misjudged the weather: dressed too warm. Thankfully, there was a headwind (!) so I could cruise along without needing a shower at work :)
|
Wore shorts today. Temps above 50 F / 10 C.
|
Thunderstorms rolled through overnight so the roads were wet with lots of puddles and debris, but the skies were clear for my morning commute. Another warm morning in the mid-40s with a headwind, so I took it easy. Yesterday afternoon I almost got hit by a recreational cyclist who was apparently trying to get in a workout before it got dark. He overtook and passed me fairly closely without saying a word while riding through my neighborhood . I was just about to make a left turn and fortunately heard his wheels whirring and looked over my shoulder as he came whizzing by, almost hitting me. That would be totally ironic if my only crash in 5 years, 17,000+ commuting came from getting hit by another cyclist. I use a mirror but he was not visible because he was wearing dark clothes and had no lights. A simple "on your left" would have been nice.

It's freeking warm (43F) this morning and will only get warmer (64F) later today. Summer is comming.
|
Awesome. 48F and sunny! I left earlier again, so no traffic. Made my day! I hope others enjoyed their ride too.
|
Had to drive today due to having to leave early for an appointment. Boy, did I get a shock at the gas pump this morning. Thanks to the bike, those shocks are few and far between.
|
First commute in a week and a half. As other DC posters have noted, the temps were mild in mid to high 40's. The headwind and lack of riding made the ride a bit of a grind. Looking forward to smooth sailing on the way home with temps in the mid 60's.

70 degrees and foggy around Tampa Bay. Got a bit of rain yesterday and the forecast is for 20% today -- we shall see what 5:00 PM brings.
|
45F and only a thin cloud cover, felt warm and bright
|
I rode Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and then decided to drive today because I need to get a 50 pound dog food bag on my way home. I need to get one of those Trek Transports to carry around heavy stuff - -

Excellent commutes today. 45F and overcast with rain at the last 1/4 of the ride this morning with mainly cross/headwinds from the SW @ 5-8mph. 47F and sunny with mainly tail and some crosswinds from the WNW @ 18-22mph gusting to 29mph.

Early hints of spring continue. Warm, birds singing, strong crosswind but what a great ride in.

Thanks. I actually replaced it as soon as I got home from my mom picking me up. I had bought a brand new one about a month ago and had never installed it. I was going to return it the Tuesday before, but forgot to, which was a very good thing. This is what my velo has become, in case you were wondering: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/Photo239.jpg I've been commuting lately on a minimalist road bike, with no fairing, because the winter has been so mild this year. I am planning a new build though, scaled back and more light-weight. |
Holy Head Wind, this morning was brutal!!!
|
my commute this morning was within the climate controlled comfort of a commuter train.
it wasn't the snow this morning that forced me onto the train. it wasn't the cold this morning that forced me onto the train. it was the 35 mph wind screaming out of the NNE. that's an 11 o'clock headwind for me on my 15 mile commute up the chicago lake shore. no effing thanks. |
I will give props to anyone who chose to ride in today. Had 34mph gusts out of the north this morning. Crazy.
|
About 39-40F coming in. I leave home at 5:15AM and have only a short ride on, at that hour, deserted streets - unusual to see more than a few cars. Unless it is raining heavily, there isn't much drama. I try to ride fast, chase a bus if I find one, get my heart pumping, get to work all awake-like. I've ridden every day this winter. except one day when it snowed. The sun is out and it looks to be a fine day in Portland OR.
|
45F and grey; starting to get breezy.
|
Miserable ending of a pretty nice week: low 40s and rain :( Quiet, uneventful ride though.
|
Nice and balmy 17c Celsius with a mild southerly wind and clear skies... after a few weeks of rain, clouds and gloomy weather, today was a pleasant surprise!
On my way back home in the afternoon... http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7050/6...ce333579_b.jpg |
Telly,
Nice picture. I like the way the light catches the rims. |
For once I had different weather than Hardy: 31 degrees and beautifully clear with those sparkly things in the sky that I forget about. No wind. It's supposed to be raining tonight so I wore my rain gear.
The bolt holding my crank together almost came out though. My first clue was when it wouldn't shift into the high front gear, as the assembly was moved too far to the left. I finally had a use for my tool kit. This weekend I'll pull it back out, clean the threads, and re-assemble with blue loctite. Losing that bolt would have made for a bad day. |
