30mph south breeze made it interesting. I kept it mostly across me but had 2 fun straightaways w/ it directly behind; I was only heading straight into it the 1st half mile taking my kids to school. My 1st grader was telling her teacher about biking uphill into that wind. She seemed proud of herself for making it.

Thought I might get a double commute on Friday, which would have given me nearly thirty miles for the day, but didn't have time to go back to the office after my scheduled appointment at home.

Beautiful morning today with temps in the upper forties, a slight tailwind and bright sunny skies. All that has led to an afternoon most people are raving about, and I'm thinking it's too hot for this time if year... Over 70 at the moment and it's supposed to be that warm all week. Wish the mercury would stop rising around 55 or 60. Oh well. Shouldn't complain. I'll save my complaints for when it's 90+ for weeks on end this summer.

Flipped shifts today to cover for a co-worker. Normally work 7am - 3:30, today I'm 3:00pm - 11:00. I don't get to ride home late at night like this very often so it's always fun. The ride in provided quite a stiff headwind, but nice temps.

Back aboard the bike again after a week to wear the shine off of a new car! About 39 degrees this early morning, 5:30am is darker than usual because of the time change. But that's ok, I prefer riding in the dark - then I don't feel so bad about money I've spent on all my dorky "fred" lights! Lol

Very nice Monday Commute...Good to start off the week with a pretty sunrise and honing in on the correct tire pressure in the tires. I up the pressure from 50 psi front and 55 psi back to 60 psi front and 65 psi back. Alot better ride. Liking the warm weather too!

Enjoy!

Easy commute today. It rained lightly all day but traffic was super quiet on the way home. What a treat!

fletchh 03-13-12 04:34 AM

A very nice warm ride in at 60f (16C). It rained last night, and might spatter some today, but it will still be warm and that is a good thing.

essiemyra 03-13-12 05:25 AM

a nice commute in, the temp was 45c when I rode through town. When I was four miles away from work the rain began. I have never ridden in the rain so it was different. Very unnerving thinking the cars could slide and maybe hit me. When the roads are dry I don't have those thoughts. Anyway, the temps will be in the high 60's later, so I expect a nice commute home again today.

More warm wind. I love the wet streets after rain.

wphamilton 03-13-12 07:22 AM

I was caught off-guard by the rain, no letting up for 9.5 miles. With my fairing laid up for redesign I rolled in a bit soggy this morning, and had also neglected to plastic bag my work clothes. Fortunately I keep spares at the office.

scottsmith 03-13-12 07:24 AM

my 1st bike commute of 2012 was nice! I would have appreciated an extra layer but was ok without it at 6C.

Roads were wet and filthy from all the sand put down this winter but it was a good ride!

genel 03-13-12 07:32 AM

Nice morning, temps mid/upper 40's, nice tailwind. Sun is now aligned with Hauley Rd. Making the commute somewhat more hazardous (a cyclist was wacked a few years ago). A little overdressed, so it will be a warm ride home.

Sure wish the "children" would refrain from tossing beer bottles out their windows.

AdamDZ 03-13-12 07:43 AM

Ah, first ride in 12 days after being out with flu. A bit wet, but the rain just stopped and it was over 50F at 7:30AM, nice, it felt good.

HardyWeinberg 03-13-12 10:12 AM

3" of snow turned to 3" of slush for my last mile, I was SOAKED from the waist down.

My fellow cube-farmer who takes boatloads of newspaper subscriptions has switched to mostly digital so I had to jam my shoes full of paper towels in hopes of having them moderately dry by quitting time.

NoTrail 03-13-12 10:15 AM

60 degrees was a great way to start my morning commute. The ground was still really wet from the rain last night, but the fenders kept me perfectly dry. It's still a little weird now that it's so dark in the mornings, but overall it was good. And the new saddle, panniers, and rack proved great choices.

kfkcam 03-13-12 11:11 AM

First foul weather commute for me this year second overall this year. Upper thirties, light rain and sleet. Overall pretty good. Made good time for the wet roads.

HardyWeinberg 03-13-12 04:47 PM

We lost power at work today, so I finished what work I could and then, while it was still blinding sun out (after the morning snow got rained off), changed to ride home; when I got out into the parking lot, it was huge fat slushflakes, and it was pelting rain/slush the whole way home. When I got out of the garage after parking the bike, the sun was back (but everything was still dripping slush).

AdamDZ 03-13-12 05:17 PM

70F and sunny on the way home this afternoon, I was wearing shorts! Yay!

monsterpile 03-13-12 09:51 PM

Just cool enough this morning that I needed a jacket a hat under my helmet and my mittens. On the way home I was hot and wished I was wearing shorts and felt hot. I was also going into the wind so it was somewhat slow going. Later in the evening I rode to run some errands and it felt so much better in a pair of shorts.

fletchh 03-14-12 04:54 AM

Anohter nice morning at 54f (12C). I came in sleevless for the first time this season. The less clothes, the better the ride.

Yeah, I hate bundling up for cold weather.

dcb23 03-14-12 05:30 AM

On bundling up, I also like the fact that less head gear means more visibility and I can hear myself pedaling down the street.

This change in weather is just so sudden as to be kind of shocking. I wore my open Keens this morning. Great ride in, even put ice in my water bottle.

essiemyra 03-14-12 05:50 AM

a nice ride in this am, though it was only 39degrees. I had to stop and take a layer off so as not to sweat. Not any wind to speak of, so it was a nice ride. I love riding my bike to work, it is not like going to work at all.

tarwheel 03-14-12 06:03 AM

Beautiful morning with temps in the mid-50s and a warm SW wind, which unfortunately was a headwind. I still made good time, however, probably due to having well-rested legs from driving yesterday. I'm probably gonna regret that on Friday as the forecasters are starting to hint about thunderstorms toward the end of the week, after telling us on Monday it would be sunny all week. Rode my De Bernardi, which is my fastest commuter bike these days with the smallest seatbag and lightest tires, which also helped my speed. The pollen is starting to get bad around here, leaving a yellow coat on my tire treads, but not so bad that it is giving sinus problems -- yet. That's coming.

44F/7C today. I took the scenic route. Lakeside MUP. It routes through a Burlington neighborhood and I spotted my friend loading his kid into the car so I swung over and we chatted for a bit. Then I decided since I was riding right by it, I needed to go to Maglianero Cafe for a mocha latte. They make it right in my Trek Soho mug. Win! :D
