@48 that could certainly be a challenge..Although I only need to add 13 miles to my commute...Hmmmm.

That might be doable since I have to vote in the WI Recall primary on the way home.

Some old geezer pulled out in front of me trying to make a left turn. I had to slow down. He was approaching a T intersection. I clearly had the right-of-way, and I was going straight. He either didn't see me, underestimated my speed, or he was just ********. Before the intersection, I did move closer to the center of the right lane (2 lanes total in one direction) with 2 in the opposite (where he was heading) to increase my visibility on par with this site's, https://bicyclesafe.com/, advice. I've had a lot of problems with old people.

I took the lane approaching an intersection since it was a 2 lane road and there was several motorists about 100 yards behind me coming out of the previous stop light. I got passed on the right by two cars in a row. I assume the second was just following suit with the first.

I've been experimenting lately with not filtering forward at stop lights unless at the end of a line with cars opposite yielding to turn left. So far, seems okay.

How did they pass you on the right? Were you in the left lane, or was the right lane really wide?

I usually don't filter, but sometimes I do. If I do, I don't stay on the extreme right but closer to the center of a lane ahead of some car, never the first one though, because it may want to turn right into me. I don't filter if there's a big vehicle ahead due to blindspots, and they're just so big. I've learned not to trust motorists' turn signals.

No commute this week at all. On the road for work and traveling with another person. If I had been alone I would have brought a bike and enjoyed riding the trails in Albany GA and riding around Savannah GA where I will end up Thursday. Am digging the $42 a day meal allowance! That Filet at Long horns tonight was GREAT!

Two through lanes and a right turn lane. I was in the center of the rightmost through lane. The motorists passed me by crossing half into the right-turn lane.

Bike to work week. I've been seeing some lost souls heading straight at me on the wrong side of the street. They must be riding Ralieghs...

The ride from the YMCA was nice, but my legs were a little tired from the 33.7 mile ride in the morning with the road bike.

Took my road bike today (time for service) and remembered why it's called a road bike. It was scary riding in city traffic without my trusted disc brakes and more upright position.

It was a blast when I could speed up though, boy I love that bike.

Drizzly ride in, but better than the soaking I got going home yesterday, and probabaly the same today. It was a nice warm ride in at 65f (18C). I brought my bike in today, as it will be raining on and off today. I brought my cover, but was too lazy to deal with it.

I had the commute home in the rain last evening and it was raining steady and good. I was filthy when got home. My shoes felt like they were water logged, but I totally enjoyed the ride from the being out in the elements perspective. I had to take the motor vehicle in today as I have errands that need to be accomplished that can not be done on my bike.

Nice misty warm ride in. Our DC United soccer team just announce bike to the match day on May 16! I'll be there.

Just some mellow short legs today, to/from kids' school a couple times, to/from a nearby building and downtown a couple times, vs my usual straight shot out to stripmallia (which was highly unpeaceful last night when they ground off the road for about a half mile, so a half mile of really bouncy sub-pave capped w/ a bunny hop to clear the 4" cliff back up to chipseal level)

No rain today, and 53f (12c). A nice ride in, although I lost a battery pack to one of my lights, so I will be looking for that going home.

took the car in today, due to going out for drinks after work cause it is my birthday (53yrs old), it is also raining out(which we need).

Finally a windless sunny morning commute. My hands got cold but other than that it was perfect. The Sun rising behind some fog hanging over Nine Springs Creek had me contemplating the meaning of Life. For a brief moment, I almost canceled my quest at setting a new 2012 land speed record ride to work time. :-)

Great ride in this morning, the first on my Bob Jackson touring bike since I got it rebuilt. I actually picked up the bike after work and was at the shop until about 9 pm while my mechanic was doing the final touches. I'm leaving on my first loaded tour tomorrow, riding from Raleigh to Swansboro, NC, along the coast. It should be about 160 miles in two days, camping at a state park near the halfway point. The bike rode great but I still need to make a few tweaks in the saddle and handlebar adjustments. Tonight I'll start packing it up to see how everything fits. I'm traveling light since it's just two days, but still need to carry a tent, sleeping bag, ground pad, clothes, etc.

Here's a shot of the BJ as it was previously built for commuting. I've now added a Tubus Cargo rear rack, Sugino triple crank, with Ortlieb panniers to come.

I passed another commuter this morning and I hear him yelling something. I though, maybe something fell off of my bike, but as I look back I hear him calling me an a**hole. I'm like WTF? So I slow down and ask him what the hell his problem is and he starts yelling how I passed him, cut him off, squeezed between him and the traffic, "if a car did this to you, you'd be screaming"...



OK, I am not a car and it was him who was screaming. We're in a painted bike lane and there was like 6 feet between him and the traffic. It's a busy lane, cyclists pass one another all the time, nobody was endangered even for a second. And actually, just a couple of blocks earlier, he squeezed between a bus leaving the stop and the trucks in traffic while me and one other guy took safely to the right side of the bus. I actually noticed him because of that and kept away because he was checked in my mind as "erratic" so when I decided to pass him it was in a pretty wide, safe spot.

What a nutjob. And he was decked out in high-vis gear, panniers, large mirror. I told him that if he's afraid of riding on the streets he should walk on the sidewalk. Damn nut was in rage, fuming. Jesus F Christ... Imagine him when he's actually right-hooked by a car??? But then, he was riding an electric-assist bike so that should give him away as a potential nut Really, if people are that scared of riding, they should not ride their bikes on the streets.

Commute was awesome. I am becoming hard-core, 5 to 6 time a week commute on the bicycle. It used to be half and half with the motorcycle. However, I have come to believe, feel or think that the bicycle is more fun then my sportbikes..

You have a great taste in bikes. The Bob Jackson is awesome to say the least. Like a fine well seasoned wine.

On my ride in today ... everything was perfect. I think it's going to be a good day.

35F and sunny, still shorts no jacket and fingerless gloves, but went for socks. Also, Absolute construction road devastation outside my office so rode 2 miles past on a parallel road to get to a good cross street and then come back down.

Beautiful morning for a bike ride -- sunny , about 53 F (12 C), and little wind. Got about 1.5 mi. from my house and realized I didn't have my seat bag (spare tube, etc.). I'd forgotten to switch it from the bike I'd used for the last couple of rainy days. For 15 seconds I considered riding on, but then I figured that would just anger the Bicycle Gods, and so I turned around and rode back to my house, put the seat bag on my bike, and headed back to work. Like I said, a beautiful morning for a bike ride.

12 celcius, pouring rain for all the 30.5 kms ride. It's been like that for almost 2 weeks here. I think I'll take the car tomorrow... Have not been completly dry for one hour in the last 10 days!
