A nice ride in at 57f (14c). It was a bit brisk in shorts and sleeveless, but it's been that way all week, and once the shorts and sleeveless are on, they don't come off until there is pain from cold weather again.

I actually had to wear my light jacket, jsut a bit chilly at 50?F. Lots of people out really early this morning. Most mornings I might see a jogger or 2 or another commuter. Today there were several of both, lots of people out walking etc. Nice ride in.

vtjim 06-07-12 07:12 AM

Walked to work today, but I thought I'd mention that I had to laugh at myself because a bicyclist passed me and I instinctively wanted to give chase. :p

Did you think you were a dog?

Almost ran over a rabbit, nice sun but big headwind.

linus 06-07-12 07:52 AM

A great day. I don't think it will last too long though.

Had a nice pre work-from-home ride this morning. I like to ride down to a trail with a nice climb out of the river valley, very popular with commuter cyclists. Someday, my timing will be just so, and I'll get to race someone up the hill. I always see a few strong-looking cyclists in the area, but I'm usually going back down the hill as they're going up. Sometimes I'll go back up a second time for a little extra exercise, but today I did some exploring instead and found the beautiful new pedestrian bridge over the river that the city built a couple years ago. All in all, a very nice 20 km "commute" to my basement home office.

We should get out for an early ride one of these days... I won't be able to catch you but I also have the same commute.

How often to they let you work from home ? Sounds like it would be awesome.
:)

50F, raining, otherwise nice.

alexaschwanden 06-07-12 03:43 PM

Very windy, but nice temperature.

Rimmer 06-07-12 07:56 PM

Well, I got a flat, a slow one. I'll patch tomorrow.

HardyWeinberg 06-07-12 08:06 PM

Crazy headwind and downpour all the way home. Slowest commute since days of sleet.

tomg 06-07-12 09:32 PM

ride was the usual 20.8 mile dst (short loop to/from) today. lots of road sharing :-) !
on return trip I got hit with hail/rain storm, made it to a closed facility and sat it out in shelter.
riding in electrical charged storms with 3/8 inch hail is an issue with me!
fiding shelter during can make it a Zen experience!

caloso 06-07-12 10:36 PM

Rode from work to the Thursday Night World Championships. Got shelled like a roasted peanut. Then rode partially home: my wife took pity on me and drove the van out part way to pick me up. Knackered.

Onions 06-07-12 10:50 PM

Had a nasty mechanical failure last week that resulted in me bouncing on the concrete or a dozen feet. This morning was the first that I felt like riding, so I spent 2 hours getting my backup POS Huffy rideable and cruised in gently. Sprained wrist held up okay.

Way home was about 10PM. 70 F, nice cool tailwind, almost no one on the road. My road rash was pretty sore by then, so I didn't make great time, but it was great to be back in the saddle.

I left the house later then I would have liked to because of accidental sleep-in but it worked out well because the fog had just lifted when I left @ 5:30am. Cool, but very calm and not a cloud in the sky! Bluest morning of the year I think after constant rains this week. Nice start to a very busy day at work.

fletchh 06-08-12 06:25 AM

A very lovely morning at 59F (15C). Traffic is much heavier coming in later, and there are more bad people in cars with bad behaviours when it comes to cyclists.

*giggle* No but I guess I have the silly commuter racing bug.

acidfast7 06-08-12 06:44 AM

going to take the long way home and head out to watch the opening of the European Football Championships.

Go POLSKA!

I've stocked up on Apple Juice and Żubrówka!

tarwheel 06-08-12 07:57 AM

Ideal weather for commuting the last couple of days -- sunny, mild temperatures, low humidity and very little wind. Can't ask for more than that -- except for a break from the red lights, which are out to get me lately.

SkippyX 06-08-12 08:30 AM

This morning was sweet. Temps in the low-mid 70's. It rained hard last night, so this morning the air was still and cool.

On the way in I met an older fellow (looked to be late 50's/early 60's) who was riding what looked to be an old 70's bike. I said "hullo" as I passed and noticed he was on an old Peugeot. I stopped. He turned around and we had a bit of a conversation on the road. It turns out that he has had some surgery on his knees recently and he's trying to build up some strength without beating the heck out of them. He was riding his son's old Peugeot. I have no idea what the model number was. It was an old 12 speed.

He had taken the bike into a bike shop and one of the guys that worked there tried to convince him that the bike wasn't worth a damn, and that he should sell the bike to the guy at the shop and buy a new one for himself. :( Guys like that give honest bike shop people a bad name.

All in all a great commute today.

cycronin 06-08-12 08:50 AM

I worked an early shift today... had to be in at 6:45 am. Did the same yesterday but there'd been a massive storm the night before which kept me up, so I wound up flaking out on the bike commute and drove in favor of a little extra sleep. I wasn't going to let that happen today so I made sure to leave by 5:30 to make sure I got to work on time. For me, that is pretty damn difficult. I didn't get that much sleep either. But once I was out it was great riding with the rising sun. The lack of sleep put a bit of a hamper on my energy level but it wasn't too grievous. It's probably a good thing I didn't ride yesterday because the trails were still in bad shape because of the storm... the underpasses looked like they had been submerged underwater. But it was passable this morning. I got to work at about 6:20 after a 10.5 mile ride in.

groovestew 06-08-12 09:15 AM

Pretty nice ride in this morning, sunny and not too windy, though I felt a little underdressed for the 8C/46F or so temperature. Used panniers instead of a backpack for the first time today - it was fine for the ride, but not so fine carrying them around off the bike.

Couldn't resist a little commuter race after a guy on a cyclocross bike got the jump on me going up a hill. I managed to get past him, but he was pretty strong and was never far behind. He turned off somewhere before the top of the hill - good thing, because I didn't want him to hear how hard I was breathing!

HardyWeinberg 06-08-12 11:06 AM

50F, clammy, sunbreaky, took the roadbike

turtletwins2002 06-08-12 01:11 PM

Swell, minus the fact that there was a "bike path closed" sign (been there for weeks, but the path has been usable) which went ignored. About a mile later, found myself backtracking because the trail was actually closed. Wound up on an unfamiliar part of one of the most busy streets in the state, during morning rush hour for about 15 blocks. Claimed the lane, no honking, no yelling, no problems, cagers gave plenty of room...a great ride.

Rimmer 06-08-12 07:42 PM

I patched my tube before leaving. On the way back home, I went down a rather short, steep descent 10% grade maybe?, and that light always turns red before I get a chance to go through it. Always. Well, I was in a high gear, and I thought I was going to make it, but the light starts changing at the worse possible time, so I just brake without even having a chance to downshift. Knowing the light was going to take forever to change and that a few cars would end up behind me, I dismounted my bike and manually downshifted with my hands. I gotta wonder if anyone else even does that.

Commodus 06-08-12 08:21 PM

Found a new route to work that is just super. Also, I fixed my fender.

Good day.

caloso 06-08-12 11:30 PM

Rode the heavy hauler. Stopped on the way home for my son's end of little league season BBQ. Great bunch of kids and parents. Way too many hot dogs, but what are you gonna do? Be rude?:innocent:

acidfast7 06-09-12 02:54 AM

stopped at a local street market and bought: 5 marinated steaks (10€ which is a great price), 2x 0.2L prosecco rossini, 200g Roquefort, 200g some other goat cheese (which was quite nice), one freshly baked baguette, and a gift for the people hosting the BBQ (a nice serving tray and two glasses!)
