God damn escalators, decided since its so hot on my way to my fathers for a visit this morning to take the subway up from Queen to St. Claire. Anyways, sure enough, there are narrow one person sized escalators going up, so I take it, and my wheel turns, hits both sides of it, pushes the bike down onto me, with the pedal striking my right leg.
All I hear is a CRACK! and being unable to bend my knee, so I push my bike straight, push my leg down to the ground and twist it to the left, the opposite direction of where it went with the bike, I hear another CRACK! and my knee became somewhat bendable.
Get to my fathers, organize a few things I had left there, took a couple of things in my pannier, knee started to get stiffer and stiffer as I walked on it. So kept walking on it as sitting down made it lock up again. Finished what I had to do.
Anyways, its sore as hell, stiff too, took me twice as long after I left my fathers to bike home then it normally would as I couldn't bend my knee with much speed or strenght, just enough to make the left pedal ready for another push with the good leg.

Bikes: 3 spd fixie with SA S3X hub, Torker KB2 with SA 2SC 2 speed kick back hub!
Today was first commute on my new bike, a Torker KB2. I thought it would be slower then my previous Torker with an 8 speed Alfine hub bike but the KB2 with a 2 speed hub was actually 10 minutes faster over 17 miles.

Good luck with that knee, and I hope that it is better with some rest.

It was a dry warm dark morning at 74f (23c), when I got up, had tea, cereal, and packed for the day, then as soon as I stepped outside the door, it opened up. I grabbed a rain coat, extra sox and gloves, and on my way. It slowed a bit when I got closer, a glimpse into what the day will be like. No ligthning coming in though, and that is alwys a good thing.

We could sure use some rain here, no real rain in weeks it seems like.

I took off that spandex like brace this morning, and it feels as comfortable walking on the leg now as it did yesterday with it. So there is some progress.

The ride in this morning was very nice, it was a quiet ride. Nothing out of the ordinary. I did bring raingear because it is supposed to rain this evening and you know the weathermen, so better have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

i've been timing my 10-mile commute so that i can catch a bus for the last 3-4 miles (i'm lazy). the last 2 days i've missed the bus by a block, and made a game about playing catch up. was never able to pass the bus, but 2 days ago was able to catch up. my laziness is making me stronger, methinks.
overall the commute was great today. first ride of the year that was humid in the morning (fine with me, i can't stand being cold).
they're great when you only see them a few times a year. I had a route for a while that made me consciously try not to hit them EVERY morning.

Dodged the rain on morning and afternoon commutes yesterday. It was pouring at 4:15 pm but the radar showed a "window" in the showers, so I headed out at 4:30 and hammered all the way home. The rain had just stopped when I left work and started again right after I got home. I got just as wet from sweating, but I enjoy the challenge of outrunning rain storms. I have a dentist appointment today, so had to drive but it's just as rainy again. My legs needed a break anyway because I had ridden 9 days consecutively, including a 125-mile loaded tour last weekend. Hopefully this weather system will clear out by tomorrow morning.

A nice ride this morning. Some cooler and drier air has made it's way into the South Florida area overnight so it was 70 degrees at 7am and school is finally out, so my morning traffic is much reduced. The Giro is doing well as a daily commuter, and I had a great ride with light breezes from the NE.

Leaving at 6am, pouring down raining, wife looking at me like I am crazy, all at the same time motioning me to come in the truck with her, and let her drive me to work. Well, this 72 year old man would have none of that. All I did was switch up to another bike, don rain gear, and off. Now here is the fun part. Temps are up at around 80+, so it is warm, I am on the flats, looked down at the bike computer, and it states I am doing an 23mph on the flats.. Kicked it little harder after that.. I whispered to myself, "this chit is fun"....

I broke a sweat riding an easy pace at only 65F. Got to work and checked the humidity-78%. The good thing about the weather here is that as temps go up, humidity drops.

Left home at 7:00 to a slight headwind and 45f temps. Turned around after a block because the water bottles were left behind, loaded them up, restarted, rolled in on a combination of streets and trail, arrived at 7:38, great ride.

Holy bike to work week in Chicago, Batman!
yesterday storms threatened, so i guess that kept A LOT of the fair-weather people in their cars or on transit, but today is an absolute stunner, and with it being bike to work week in chicago, there were a ridiculous amount of bike commuters out in the city this morning. thousands and thousands of them, cyclists everywhere, the inbound lakefront path looked like the inbound kennedy expressway, except with bikes instead of cars.

Really could not have been a more pleasant morning to ride a bike. Took the opportunity to take a detour and my only regret was not leaving at sunup so as to get in even more miles. Wonderful.

Saw a Road Runner on the way in. This is the fourth one I've seen this year and also the fourth one I've seen in my entire life.

*always* humid here, regardless of temp. Ride in to work yesterday it as 8*C with 99% humidity = FOG. Learned that my sunglasses needed a LOT of wiping so I could see well enough to determine if the dark spots ahead were pavement patches or storm drain covers. LOL

Nice cool rain yesterday on the way home, which I always enjoy because the paths are more clear of pedestrians and recreational riders and because it's an opportunity to take it easy on the wet surfaces and enjoy the ride.

The morning ride was amazing. No clouds in the sky and very little traffic. I did see a runner but as of yet no cyclists. The way back there was a risk of T-storms and rain but that never came about and I even realized that I had overdressed a little. I took a 4 mile scenic detour on the way back and slowed down to enjoy it. It didn't even add time to my normal travel because of the faster pace I was able to keep up earlier on the route. Great day both at work and commuting!

Hey SD, My son just moved to Chicago and is working at Delilahs. He's a dedicated bike person. Say hi to the 6'4" doorman if you get that way...

found a shorter route today and beat 30mins on the way in for the first time. I can use the time saved for a longer ride in the evening

A beautiful morning at 68f (20c). Only one bad driver today, and I am seeing more these types. There are circles in the street on one of the
roads I ride. The circles are to slow traffic down, but there is not enough room in the slot for a bike and a car, however today, a van came from behind, initially no lights, then he switched them on and rode inches from the back of my bike through that circle. We are always told to get tag numbers of people who purposefully break the 3ft law, but I didn't bother. There are just too many of those types out there.
