Just started a new commuter blog with interviews
Hey I'm Andrew and me and a good friend of mine just started a bike blog about bike commuters. We take a few photos of each commuter and also record a short interview to help tell their story. Anyway, I think some of you guys might enjoy it. I'm pumped to start spending Time around here. This is the liveliest forum I've found.
We've been trying to decide if the main image needs to always have the bike prominently in it. Were without a doubt a bike blog, but we're finding out through the interviews that we are just as much a people blog. Anyway, would love some feedback.

Looking at your page, I like the three picture sets. While the "Dad guy" doesnt have his bike he has a helmet.
The other two have their bikes visible, and they look good.
The two bottom pics are also good, focusing as they do on the bike.
The suit guy has a funny blue blob on his suit, what caused that?
But the whole white-space thing, which I usually like, is not working for me, but not having a graphic imagination for creating stuff like that I cant suggest anything better.

I really like this blog. Keep up the work and keep the bicycles if the people are cyclists.

Someday soon, we'd like to just pay a designer for a whole new site, but for now we just want to be able to share the stories and put the emphasis on them.

I think this is a great idea. I have wanted to do something like this but, a little more video based.
Obviously more you do it you will figure out what style you want. My thoughts would be to have a photo of their bike. Bikes show the persons style and personality a lot. Like that Chopper trike, there isn't a photo that shows it off completely, you only even know its a trike if you realize he said he tried to put a trike kit on his first bike before getting a custom bike.
Looks great. Can't wait to see more.

Great site, photos and idea!
I would recommend you go globally since with the 'net it's easy! Open a sub-section for global cyclists and ask them to send in pics/audio so you can edit to your standards!

We are hoping to do some long form interviews with video within a month or so, but keep audio as our bread and butter.

Hey we keep getting a regular amount of traffic from this thread, so I thought I've give you guys a little update:
1. We're up to about 25 stories with our first in-depth piece (See: Video + audio and photos) in the editing stage
2. We've gotten a lot of fans from here, we've got a pretty good collection of visitors from all the big bike cities (NYC, SF, Austin, Seattle, Portland)
3. We're working on getting a sponsor this summer (if you know someone that wants to support original bike stories, email us ride@anewbike.com or shoot us a DM)
4. We've had traffic from every state in the U.S. except stingy North Dakota and South Carolina. No one rides bikes there? Plus, 30-some countries.
We're pumped to keep doing it, and we're looking at being in a new city full-time in the Fall.
Thanks for all your views,
af

Hey maybe another small update for BikeForums.net.
We're constantly trying to improve our stories, and we think this is probably the most meaningful yet.
Usually we don't get to spend much time with each interviewee because find them on the street, but this one we spent hours interviewing at multiple locations.
The we woman we interviewed is paralyzed from the waist down, but rides her bike everyday. Very, very cool. We'd love to have you guys check it out.
