Frustrating!!!

March is being March in Oregon - snow, wind, rain, wind, snow, wind, wind, rain....

Crap!

Tomorrow will likely be my only commute this week, the weather conspiring with responsibility (and the need to drive to the place I have to be responsible).

Man, oh, man. But Saturday and Sunday will be rain or shine road rides. I hope.

Oh for summer!

Weather like this almost makes me look forward to global warming...

Don't worry, we've only got three more months of rain after March.

Who lets a little bit of rain and snow stop them from riding?

The rain here is just full of suck.

I just love how it's just enough rain for debris to stick to you tire. So you can be at home plucking all the glass and rocks out.

I don't mind the cold as much as I mind the wind/rain. Of course I've wimped out and not ridden in the rain as the rainy days have been windy days. My fear of being blown into moving traffic by wind gusts on the overpasses convince me to drive on these days.

In Oregon, nobody. But throw in the wind and cold at the same time, and it really sucks.

I say: rain, wind, and cold - give me any two.

We're entering pollen season in NC. The weather can be absolutely incredible yet it's hazardous to your health to ride due to incredibly high pollen levels from all the trees. Fortunately the really bad pollen usually lasts for only a week or two, but I've gotten sick several times from riding a lot in the yellow stuff.

You have to remember we've got Minnesota people on this forum. By their standards, it's never cold in Oregon.

I've been lucky enough to have the strongest of the winds at my back this week, so I'm feeling a bit more cheery than many.

I don't mind the rain/wind here, it's the below freezing mornings where there is slush and/or ice on the ground. My daily commute involves many steep hills and I don't want to risk an injury (or busted bike) on the slick surfaces. Several times it was slick enough that I had to walk my bike up several hills on the grass on the side of the road just to make it to the top.

Not to rain on your parade but up here on the Great Lakes we have had the best winter in my lifetime on track to be the best ever. We normally get 200 plus inches of snow in the Snowbelt and this year hardly none, temps in the high 60’s when normally we would be in the teens.

It was so nice the ice fishermen had to cut 4 inch holes in the floor of their rowboats and sit on buckets and fish that way. The polar bear club never did their January 1st dip as the beaches were to full and the cross country ski race was cancelled for the first time replaced with golf. The ice castle was never built and the list goes on. Hehe

It was a very nice winter for biking though; no one even put their studs on.

When ever I see someone ride their bike using a umbrella, it just makes my day.

So did you ride today, David? I took the day off to do my taxes. I'm planning to ride tomorrow and Friday but with the winds in the forecast I'll probably skip the debut of my rain cape and just use my jacket and pants. I already wimped out and drove Monday and Tuesday. Sorry but I don't think my Schwalbe Marathon Supremes are any good in 4" of snow.
