Since of Accomplishment
Today I noticed that I was at 1,122 miles on my commuter bike. This bike pretty much only goes to and from work. That number made me smile. It equates to 51 days of commuting this year so far. I love it. This morning I got up, looked outside and it was pouring down rain. A few months ago I would say "oh man, I should drive." This morning I said "Man, I hope I get out there in time for the rain". Going through the puddles is wonderdful!

Okay, I am a little jealous, I commute but today and the last few days with rain I took the car. I am not able to say to myself I am that type of rider, that I will ride in the rain. Also the wet roads scare me as I am more afraid of accidents in the rain. Good for you to be able to do it!!

Congrats man. I remember reading your posts when you were just starting to commute by bike. You're a seasoned pro now. I don't ride if it's raining, but aside from that, I agree with you. It is nice to see your rides add up to a significant amount of miles. My goal for the year is 127 commutes, which is half of the year for me (including holidys, but not including personal days), so seeing a bunch add up is nice.

I think my commute has been wet for around 90% of the time this year.
Some people have to rationalize a "rain" bike. I have to try to rationalize a "nice weather" bike.

Bikes: Cross-Check/Nexus commuter. Several others for various forms of play.
It's been a while sense I've had such a since of accomplishment. Well done! I'm in far away lands at a temporary job site and not commuting by bike for a while. Oh, the misery.

Good for you!
I agree that rain is not really all that daunting. It's even fun when the temp is right. Cool, and even cold, beats hot at those times.
I avoid riding when it's pouring steadily and/or storming. For some inexplicable reason the drivers become even more reckless and stupid when the visibility is poor.
But if it's just showers, even fairly heavy and frequent ones, there's no question about whether it's the bike or the car for me. It's the bike.
And it sounds like you're one of us.
