Hey All,

Just bought my first bike. Hoping to get into cycling a little more and start commuting to work a few times a week. I just got a diamondback insight 1 today. Seems to be pretty good from review's i've seen and I went out on it for about 7 miles today and it rode pretty well. Any recommendations on a softer seat though. Also not too sure if I have the seat adjusted to the correct height so if anyone can give me some pointers i'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

Congrats on the bike! I see you are new to the forums and when people want a "softer seat", I cringe. Getting used to a modern road bike takes time. Getting used to a new seat can take time. Softer is not better. The seat has to match your sit bones. Sheldon Brown's web site is full of useful info and there's an article about saddles: https://sheldonbrown.com/saddles.html I would give you butt a couple of weeks to adjust before looking at seats. Also consider small seat adjustments to see if those make a difference. A seat with the nose pointed up or down is not going to be comfortable. If you get to the point of wanting a new saddle, consider finding an LBS that offers demo seats. Some people have no problems with almost any seat, while other people never find the right seat.

Saddles are pretty personal really. What you do not want is the mushy gel type saddles. Though you might like it for 5 miles or so, it will actually mold around your pressure points and become annoying.

I can only talk to what my wife and I use. I have them on both my bikes and it is a b-17 brooks saddle. Amazing!
